  1. Jim, I have a '67 promo (same body style) in restorable condition I'll probably never get around to. Are you interested in it?
  2. Very most excellent hella way cool! You're making me want to get mine finished! Well done and model on!
  3. Was it this one?
  4. That's a treasure! The paint should come off in the purple pond. I look forward to seeing your restoration or rebuilding of it. Congratulations and model on!
  5. Sounds like an invitation....
  6. Just email me: SnakeACP45 at AOL dot com
  7. Nah, milling it down would be easiser. Though I am gonna have to laminate the rear spring shackes. Somewhere I have a whole package of various thicknesses of plastic, but I can't find it, so I'm gonna have to laminate up some .020" stock (which I can find some of) to get something thick enough to be believable. BTW, you've seen my E/MP '65 Chevelle wagon, haven't you? I won't post a pic here if you've already seen it. Your project reminds me a bit of it.
  8. Would the tripower from the '67 roadster kit work for you? I have a spare you can have. Let me know.
  9. Looked through my Evergreen strips today, closest thing I have is .080" x 3/16, which means I'll have to mill down a piece. Oh well, if this were all easy, anybody could do it.
  10. Mystery Vette update: 24 hours in the lake removed less than 10% of the thick, glossy white paint. Only removed enough to show me that under THAT is a coat of bright red! Interestingly, the MPC '67 hood and the "roll bar" are now stripped to bare plastic, as is the oddball rear bodywork. There was no white or red on these parts. This tells me this model was rebuilt/restyled at least once previously, with those parts added after an initial build. The white is proving so hard to strip that I've given serious consideration to simply cutting off that weird rear end pan and grafting it onto a new '63 body, of which I have several sitting around....
  11. Thanks! Not truly "successful," though--I need to do a bit more fitting between body, top, and windshield. Was just in a hurry to be done with the thing, a glue bomb rescue.
  12. Interesting! Not the first song I think of from this album. For me, this album is about "Monster," "Don't Step on the Grass, Sam," and "From Here to There Eventually." Speaking of "Corina Corina," do you think this song is descended from it? AFAIK, this was the late great Warren Zevon's one and only forum into 12-bar blues:
  13. Courtesy of the local toy show, with a big assist from Gramps46:
  14. That was me. I was shocked to discover it. And I don't know which one became the F500 trailer.
  15. I'll get one because I've started building Dyno Don stuff. Also a couple of the '68 custom Vettes. Otherwise, meh.
  16. I thought so, too, which is why I'm doing it. Or trying to... I feared putty was going to be a problem, too, so I've only had it in Lake Purple for a couple of 4-5 hour stretches so far. But as yet I haven't seen ANY putty, just styrene and tube glue! So I just threw it in the lake for overnight to take off that thick gloss white paint. Just saw the first hints of the windshield wipers hiding under all that, too. If there IS any old-school putty in the door lines, I hope it eats it out. Will know more tomorrow. Thanks for your interest!
  17. Many thanks for the slapper bar details! Planning to whip up a pair of these for my Nova, as well as extended rear spring shackles. Gotta have 'em for late '60s cool, dontcha know!
  18. Mystery Vette update: After one day in the Purple Pond, most of the light blue paint was coming off, with a darker blue showing through underneath. Thought I was well along. After day two, much of the dark blue is off, and there's a thick coat of gloss white under THAT! And I still haven't seen a hint of the door lines yet!
  19. Well, I've still got three or four of the Revell '68 roadsters in the stash, but I've never had this kit--not a new one, anyway (I do have a couple restorable glue bombs).
  20. It is in such short supply these days that it should be considered a superpower.
  21. The impending Moebius kits have me on something of a 1G Nova kick. I'm nearing completion on one AMT '62, and as soon as it's finished I hope to start right in on a second one. And then I want to bang out a Twister or Rat Packer pretty much OOB, and by that time we SHOULD have the new Moebius goodies.
  22. Oh, and a tip for those of you thinking of losing the ugly hood and swapping in one from some other AMT, MPC, or Revell C3 kit: It won't work. This kit's hood shape is completely unique and nothing else will fit in there without extensive adaptation/modification.
  23. BTW, mine's just cheap kitchen foil and Micro Metal Foil Adhesive. Much cheaper and more reliable than BMF, especially if you use as little foil as I do.
  24. 1. Warren Zevon, Learning to Flinch, 1993 live solo. 2. Warren Zevon, Stand in the Fire, 1980 full band. Was gonna recommend the 2007 release with four new tracks but in googling to make sure of the date, just found out that last year they released a new 2-LP (vinyl) set with six MORE new tracks. Hmmmm, where did I put my turntable? 3. Steppenwolf Live, 1970. Ask for it by name--there's a similarly named CD that's much newer but John Kay's voice is pretty much shot. 4. I second the nomination of The Hoople Live. 5. Lou Reed Rock and Roll Animal, 1974. One of the better versions of "Sweet Jane," which has been covered by pretty much everybody. 6. Meat Loaf, VH1 Storytellers. GREAT versions of all your Meat Loaf favorites, plus a cover of Warren Zevon's "Lawyers Guns & Money," PLUS he answers a lot of Meat Loaf Questions, including "What is THAT?" 7. The First Great Rock Festivals of the Seventies (1971). Isle of Wight and Atlanta Pop. Not as well known as Woodstock but just as good--maybe better. 8. Ted Nugent, Full Bluntal Nugity, 2001. THE BEST version ever of "Great White Buffalo," Dr. Ted's alltime best song. 9. Humble Pie, Performance Rockin' the Fillmore, 1971. I'll probably think of more later...
  25. Looking good! Just since you asked for comments... You might want to go back and try cleaning up the edges of your foil. By coincidence, I'm finishing up a '62 Nova drag car that I used some foil on (the rest will be Silver Sharpie). It took me a bit of time to get the edges cleaned up and straight, but it was all well worth it. Also, next time you have the camera out, could we see some pics of your slapper bars? I need to make a pair of those. Thanks!
