I mainly use canopy glue. I use white glue sometimes too if the fit is tight

I got the oxford vaccine a couple of weeks ago. No side effects the first day but my arm hurt for a couple days and flu like symptoms after the second day but happy to have got it. I guess sometimes having health issues can be useful. I should get the second shot end of may or start of june.

57 bug with working suspension & teardrop trailer
stitchdup replied to stitchdup's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Some more done on the camper. I didn't like how the slide out cooker looked so I've changed it up for a single slide hidden inside the cabinet. I'll be building a drawer unti to sit under it so one slide is enough as its more to stop it falling out than anything else. I've also added material to the units so they fit the sides better. Now these parts have a set place to fit I cut out a window and door. I made the window a similar shape to the rear bug windows and might add another small window in front of the door. I've also made my own wheel mounts as the trailer would look a bit odd at stock height with the bug being slammed. I've also swapped the wheels to stock bug steels on both again so it matches -
More done on the bug. I've almost completed the cage and I've widened the arches to fit some slicks. I still need to trim them a bit to get the wheels on but its getting there. And in a moment of maddness I chopped up a gunze bug to make it into an oval and added the scoop from the pink revell bug to the decklid. I've also widened a set of kubelwagen wheels to make a pair of dds rims for the rear and used some polar lights funny car wheels on the front. The front end is now empty under the hood as I got carried away on the cage and extended it all the way to the front. I'll add the fuel tank and battery later as I still have some work to do there so they have somewhere to fit.

Received my first 3d printed body of a custom vw type 3. It seems the tamiya bug chassis will work under it but I'll have to scratch the interior. I think I'll be putting the glass back to more stock ish. Kinda excited to get this one on the bench

Best way to chrome plate resin wheels?
stitchdup replied to mikemodeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you go the molotowe route the only clear I've found that doesn't marr the shine is gauzy shine enhancer from ak, and it means you can still handle the parts -
I'll have to get one, I'm a pretty big fan of the liberty walk cars

Cool, I remember when all the puc kids had the maxi bodykits on them around 1996 -
Just ordered my first 3d printed body from shapeways. Its a custom VW type 3 but I might try and make it a little coser to stock. The cost was about the same as a resin body

Paint Strippers - What to Use?
stitchdup replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've been using la's totally awesome cleaner even on resin. the only place i've found it in the uk is amazon but it works. I had the same problem with brake fluid, a bodyy i had in it overnight crumbled when I took it out. I'd probably strip the chrome in bleach or mr muscle oven cleaner before putting it in the totally awesome to remove the last of primer. Its not a stinky cleaner either unlike dettol which makes your entire house smell -
57 bug with working suspension & teardrop trailer

I managed to drop my sprue cutters on the bug this morning. Being a pearl paintjob I was worried I would have to repaint the whole thing but since I had nothing to lose I tried to touch it up first and it went better than i could have hoped. Since I dont have any luck blending clear i decided to clear the whole body and did the hood and trunk to make sure they matched. I think i got lucky this time. You can still see it but I had a visor I was thinking about using so this has forced my hand. -
Purchased an item over a week ago on the auction site and it still hasn't been sent. There was no delay on my end and the payment must have cleared by now

Brake rotors with calipers
stitchdup replied to TransAmMike's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
If you are after bigger diameter brakes hobby design do a few different sets in resin and pe. Pretty nice to work with too but they need 18" or bigger wheels. -
I've had some paint from a very similar named ebay store. I dont know if it s the same place though but if it is there were no problems and delivery was faster than some stuff that was fairly local to me

It is the roof scoop, I just fitted one to a tamiya bug decklid. The side scoops dont have the flatter centre section and are rounded on every surface
