for interior pics look for high end auctions. they have great photos and most include lots of detail pics. any of the auctions around pebble beach are a good starting point and often wikipedia can lead to some good pics if you follow the links in articles

I feel for you sir, but one thing i found that helped me was when i did have a break i went out somewhere away from it all, and my sense of humour got a lot sicker but its really a case of looking for the bright moments and cherishing those because unfortunately as carers we tend to forget the good times when they were themselves and only see the bad times. there are some things i laughed at that had people thinking i was insane but they just dont know what we have to do. I hate to admit it but i was slightly relieved when my gran passed but not because she passed, more because she wasn't struggling anymore. when they have a bad day sometimes going through old family photos and getting the names down on them can bring them a little out of it as its things that are fresh in their memories so much less confusing for them. I'm not qualified in any way related to any of this but you do what you have to do for family and friends. also if they wear glasses make sure they are clean, for some reason it seems to help too.

Finding some “old” kits
stitchdup replied to fordf-100's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You can still get these type of kits new. I've mostly seen them in shops that sell knick knacks or tousit trap type shops or even the gadget shop. I've got one that builds into a vintage car but its a slot together one and i've seen a fair few older style trains built by other people. They seemed pretty popular during the first pandemic christmas on this side of the pond but seem to have faded away again now. The ones for boats still seem popular but those are much more advanced and detailed. I quite fancy getting the viking ship one cos it would make for a great "up helly aa" diorama. I can remember seeing the older wooden ones that werea block of wood, axles and wheels in shop when i was a kid too and I'm only in my 40s, but when i was kid the local shops didn't take unfashionable toys off the shelfs, they stayed until they sold so dinky cars from the 50s could still be bought new too. But the islands weren't as connected in them days so things came on a need before want basis -

unfortunately this will happen more than once. and with dementia there is a degree of trying to hide things. my gran had one of these chairs and after she used it she would put the lid back on it. what we ended up doing was getting some offcuts of linoleum for the side of the bed over to the chair. it doesn't stop it happening but it makes its much faster for clean up. you have to make sure the linoleum doesn't curl up at the edges as its a bad tripping hazzard but quality velcro should hold it in place and keep the corner and edges down if you use a couple of rows on every edge. even the good velcro loses it grip so you may need to reapply it every couple of weeks but its much better than having to pick them up from the floor. another thing we did to help was on steps we changed the carpet colour as she kept not lifting her feet when trying to go up them. changing the colour made her lift her feet as she could tell the difference easier. before doing this she would have a fall 3 or 4 times a week. I didn't have a decent nights sleep for 5 years but i still cherish the memories. have you been given a bed alarm? it is one of the most useful things we had, it was connected to her neck alarm system so if she was out of bed for more than 5 mins the alarm would sound. i think the current ones mostly work through phones but the older ones would be my choice simply bacause cell phones dont always have a signal and need charged. the old sytem has a battery backup and doesn't need a cell signal which i just thought was a better idea safety wise. not everything has to be linked to a phone

man, you can get a tamiya rc truck for that money. there are a few 3d files for pulling vehicles. some car based but most seem to be the multi v8 engine tractors and there are also other engine options and other parts. they look more toyish than what we build but could give you the bones of something to detail up

i think all of those are available. its simple enough to scale them up. I could print them for you but being in scotland it wouldn't be a good price for you as the shipping is about $15-20, and then theres the file cost and print cost so it would probably be around the same but if you post on here somebody closer might be able to help you out. the slot mags are definitely available in 4 and 5 stud. theres afew detail up sets for the 240z as well that might scale up, but those are mostly more modern bodykits and stuff. -
Anyone Order From This COmpany Before
stitchdup replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
one thing to note, sometimes you dont get a confirmation when it gets posted and they may wait until the next day before they request payment. the info they do send you can be kinda confusing (see my using 1999.com post) but the prices are a little lower than hlj and i find delivery is about a week faster. When you do a search be sure to click exclude sold out or you'll get every item they have ever sold. -
well i've got chassis number 4 on its way. not ready for pics yet though. And while searching for pics of the fire truck to use for inspiration a pic popped up that will probably end up being the inspiration behind the hauler as its got a nice flow to it. I think it will work using the parts i've already got done, just with a lot more shaping plastic

Pre-war heavy Chevy...

theres a 41 coe box van available on cults and maybe a few others. ignore any by louis dioramas as they are tiny and dont scale up. -

theres an aftermarket for the 1/18 kits. a few different companies make parts but the only one i can remember just now is autoart. the parts are not cheap though. another option would to be to find a 3d file of the wheel and get someone to print it at the size and scale you need. I did a quick search and the only z wheels i found were on a full kit and one piece with tyre in a slightly bbs style. the tyres have no tread detail and its not a good looking file but there are probably others out there. did the wheels have a specific name to them? it would make searching them simpler -

most of those words probably have a different meaning where i am. for example a teenie weenie is just a teenager, and bitsy means its broken apart. theres some others but they might get me a ban, even though they have different meaning here and are pretty innocent. orkney words can even have a different meaning apart from the original. take hid for example, it can mean it, over there, hide (obviously) and on some of the islands it means home. if my mum and my aunt are talking i can barely understand them, and most of the time I'm not sure if their going to fight or declare world peace. even the tone used to say some words can change the meaning. i've found people from germany and scndinavia seem to understand us better than southerner europeans but we used to be danish so i guess that has something to with it. if i was to put a vid of me speaking up i dont think many of you could understand it, lol

arrived a couple of weeks ago. my plan is to use the fenders on a mongram 36 ford to build it into a 35. one pic has the fenders from the 36 in and they are very close in size with the truck fenders only being a mil or two wider. length is good. I'll probably use the extra 36 front end on the truck. it wasn't too dear either, even on this side of the pond
