  1. Over the past two days, I got the engine, frame, and a bunch of other components in primer. I’m thinking of shooting the frame red, and the engine the same orange as the body.
  2. Thanks for taking the time to make that post Steve. Very well thought out and descriptive. That's pretty much exactly what I'm looking to achieve. One question. Do you use water to thin the paint, or some other medium? Reason I ask is that the last time I tried craft acrylics, using water seemed to "break down" the pigment. I couldn't get a decent consistency. It was either too thick to brush nicely, or way to thin, like water colors.
  3. This kit is on my to-build list. I'll go along for the ride.
  4. Those lights are killer. Engine looks great too. This is gonna be sweet!?
  5. Steve, you’ve got to stop posting pictures of real cars… And yes, just like that.?
  6. I want to start doing more weathering and detailing on the undercarriage and engine bay of my builds. I’ve done it once, but I’d like to hear what processes you guys are using. The end goal for me personally would be a used but not abused look. Not too grungy, but not brand new either. Something you’d expect to see on a nice clean older car if you looked underneath. Does that make sense? So what products are you using and how do you use them? As always, thanks for your input!?
  7. That would look pretty cool. Kind of like anodized gold.
  8. Wow! Looks terrific. Fantastic job on a rarely seen kit.
  9. Gorgeous. That color is great. Excellent job!
  10. I decided to go to Tamiya TS-98 pure orange for the body. I think it will match the decals nicely (I hope). Got the color coats finished today.
  11. Got some new decals for my 70 1/2 Camaro. All I needed were the front and rear scripts. I’m working on the orange box kit and it doesn’t have those two. These are from the full bumper kit.
  12. Opening up the battery compartment on a 70’s Vette. Now there’s some next-level detailing for ya. I love where you’re going with this thing so far, Joe. Can’t wait to see what’s next.?
  13. Looks awesome! This kit is pretty high on my most-wanted list.
  14. Thanks Carl! Just hope I can pull off a good clear coat, then this baby will start winding down.
  15. And just like that, it’s blue again!? I also shot a couple of spoons for various clear coat trials.
  16. Monogram 1/24 kits are hands down my favorite. It was the first thing I ever built and the vast majority of models I did as a kid were old Monogram kits. I haven’t built one in around ten years. But when I got back into the hobby the first time in my early 30’s, that’s what I went for. All of these (except for the ‘60 Chevy sedan delivery) were built just over 20 years ago, during my first return. The ‘60 Chevy was built around ten years ago, the second time I returned to the hobby. None of these are fantastic, but they represent where my skills were at that point in my life.
  17. Looking great so far. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
  18. Looks great! I like that color. I'm working on the same kit currently. Hope it turns out half as nice as this.
  19. Went to an antique boat and car show with my dad and a friend today. Saw these two. The mail Jeep just looks scary, and yet kinda cool. The carb setup on the Ford is actually just air intakes. It’s fuel injected. Very cleanly built car.?
  20. Sweet! Where were those when I needed them last week???
  21. Thanks Joe. All a part of the learning process. It's part of the reason I picked this kit. I'm not too invested in it. My plan for most of my current projects it basically to get better at painting, before I move on to stuff I care more about. I'm getting closer.
  22. Wow! Is that the amt kit? Looks awesome.
  23. Thanks Dusty. I hadn't cut the black set, but I did with the red ones. These were pretty thick.
  24. Steve is one of those guys that’s so good it makes you want to quit and find a different hobby. That being said, we’re lucky to have guys like him around, especially when they’re so willing to share their knowledge. But again, for one to compare themselves to others is a mistake that can keep you from enjoying the hobby. Instead, learn from them, but still do your own thing and build your with your own style.?
  25. I hit both Fort Wayne HL stores this evening. No models on clearance. Just the same paint you guys have seen. Picked up this lot.
