Ollie's strike again
stavanzer replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wish we had an Ollie's here in California. All we have is Hobby Lobby, and they have added only 2 new kits to shelves since Thanksgiving. I really want one of those Cal Drag Combo kits. The Local R/C Hobby Shop has a Half Dozen model kits, and they do have the Cal Drag kit. For $78.99......$85.11 with sales tax. I'm not ready to spend that yet....... I wish there were some discount stores in California. -
Best paint choice for resin tires?
stavanzer replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
My Go to used to be Pactra Hot Rod Primer, but I use Nato Black and Ordinary Black Primer, now. Using different colours on the sidewalls and treads helps to look more realistic on Street Driven Cars & Trucks. -
I love those "Tire Repair Kits"! I could have used one, when I owned a Model T Speedster. Your collection is very sharp.

It's breathtakingly Ugly. It is sure crisp, and modern, but it has no soul or life to it. Even the Split Window Homage is 20 years too late. Great CAD Design, but otherwise Lifeless.

Man, that is SO Kool! You have the 'Look' Dialed in.

I know the the Testor's HSO Kit of the AMX was Johan Plastic, with the Metal Rims and Tires added in by Testor's. No idea who made them. I found this Quote from an Earlier Thread. " Posted October 13, 2023 (edited) The Testors HSO kits with the metal wheels and photo etch were issued in 1998-99 if you go by the date on the instructions wich is the only date on these kits, the Scalemates timeline for these kits are not correct as I believe these HSO series kits came about the same time as they have subsequent numbers, 7401 for the Olds 442, 7402 for the Plymouth 'Cuda, 7403 for the AMX and 7404 for the Rambler S/C, I have a few of them in my stash. As far as I know Testors did not mold any kits themselves so they had kits molded for them from other manyfacturers or reboxed bagged kits from others like Italeri, Lindberg, Jo-Han and others. One thing I know is that the AMX, Mercury Comet, Plymouth 'Cuda, Olds 442 and Rambler S/C tooling is missing after the last Testors issues and Testors was to issue another batch of these kits but it never happened due to that, who did the earlier issues for Testors I don't know...if it was left over stock from Jo-Han or if anyone else did the molding for them, if it was another company one would think the molds would still be there." This says nothing about where the tires cam from but does help with the Timeline of Testor's kits.

I'll chose to run it as an A/G car. Again, Thanks for the Help!

Awesome! I have this same kit in my stash. It is the 1997 issue as well. Your kit provides Much Inspiration. Thanks. -
That is exactly what I wanted to know. Thank You very much!

Glad to have You aboard , Matt! You'll find this a great place to both show off your builds and see some world class model building. If you have any questions, just ask.

Did you move the axle forward? It looks great!

James, you are a very astute observer, but Sarcasm ill Becomes you. Let's worry when things happen, not anticipate trouble.

Yes, please stop with the Tariff worries. The story changes every day, sometimes every 12 hours. By the time somebody shares an opinion on the "Tariffs" there is a 50% chance that the whole story has changed. Pre-Panicking before we see what is actually changing does nobody any good, least of all Modelers who just want to purchase kits.

Looking Very Sharp, with those wheels.

The Future of Revell...for 2024 at least.

Yes, I agree with you. -
Glad to have you here, Hasan! Are you familiar with the Work of Korkut Varol? He builds some neat Models.

I'd like to build my Dad's White over Copper, '69 Longbed 3/4 ton 2 Wheel Drive truck.

If I install a Blower on the 427 in the Rat Packer Nova, What class would it move into? I don't really like the Injectors, so I found a blower to use instead. Thanks.

I wish we could get those Tires in 1/25 Scale! They'd look great on some of these new truck kits.

A tip for Whiffer/Post Apocalypse/Upgraded Pickups is to use 1/35 Scale Resin Wheels from 1/35 Scale 4x4, 6x6, 8x8 Armored Cars. These Resin Casting are usually Very Well detailed and are about the same actual size as 1/25 Scale Pickup/ light truck tires. So, pretty much a direct fit. They give you a Tougher, More Rugged Look with minimal effort. I listed some Resin wheel examples, but Google is your Friend for this. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/legend-productions-lf1183-v-100-wheel-set--220096 https://armorama.com/news/british-jackal-mwmik-4x4-sagged-wheel-set https://armorama.com/news/us-stryker-sagged-wheel-set-1

What non-auto model did you get today?
stavanzer replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I got an Italeri 1/35 Willis Jeep & Trailer. I thought I'd try to make a Civilian Jeep from about 1947-48. -
You never know what Revell might do. Those stripes might very well be on the Decal Sheet.
