Wow, this is becoming one beautiful build. Looking at all that detail, I think I will stick to original AMT kits . Keep those updates coming.

Cool save. Good job on the restoration.

chevy shop truck
TarheelRick replied to fivesuns's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very cool looking shop truck. As far as the door handles, just drill a couple of small holes at the rear of the indentation and stick some wire with a loop on the end into them. Several of these older trucks had their handles removed because they did not work correctly and the driver simply hooked a piece of stiff wire to the inner workings and ran it through the hole in the door. Or you could also leave the windows down and open the door using the inside handle. -
a midwestern late model and a southern modified
TarheelRick replied to DRH_97's topic in WIP: NASCAR
Those are a couple of really cool builds. My first racing experience was with my Dad at Bowman Gray Stadium watching modifieds just like that one. Thanks for the memories. -
Several years ago I decided to strip the coating off a Coca-Cola can so I could use the aluminum. You all know the outcome. That was when I decided to read the side of the container, lo and behold, it says not to use on metal. BTW, that is one cool Tudor you are building.

My understanding of the original question is the builder intends to shoot clear on bare plastic. Will the clears mentioned have any negative interaction with bare plastic? Years ago I shot some clear on an unpainted body and it bubbled very badly.

I have a real desire to see a '63 Pontiac Catalina or Bonneville 421 Super Duty and maybe a 64/65 Olds F-85. Both were original annual kits and I imagine the tools have been modified (the 63 into a 64) and I believe the Olds was turned into a topless funny car. Still would like to see them resurrected.

The universe is an infinite entity and therefore will never be understood. What we are seeing is in our neighborhood and that is about all we will ever see. There is always going to be something beyond anything discovered by our feeble methods.

So, to re-ask the initial question, "How can a title be edited"? If I have a trade or wanted post that has been completed, how do I annotate "Found" in the title?

Monster of a truck
TarheelRick replied to Sam I Am's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Maybe you could put some diesel in the tank and see if it will crank. Definitely going to take an oversized display case to keep the dust off. Very nice looking build, however. -
Really glad this build was brought back up. It is just so cool retro 60's custom. That particular shade of purple is one of my favorite colors in purple; it is subtle, but at the same time in your face. Very nice overall build.

My next kit
TarheelRick replied to DaveP's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Not being able to see this in 3D, it looks like the registration of the locating pins may be a bit off kilter. I would suggest placing a piece of 600 grit sandpaper on a really flat surface (a piece of glass would work) then carefully sanding the locating pins off. It may also help to put a VERY light bevel along the outer edges of the hull pieces so you can putty the seam once you get the hull glued together. -
Square body/73-87 Chevy

Your plan sounds like a good one. Have you considered removing the door handles? That would really clean up the sides. As far as the vent windows I think I would remove them, it is a subtle change that would make a world of difference to the overall smooth look. People would notice it, but not necessarily recognize what had been done; scratching their heads trying to figure it out. -
Mighty fine early style custom. I see you "cheated" the BMF by putting on those long fender skirts to hide all that chrome behind the wheelwells. I have a couple of these in the stash and one will definitely use the "Styline" parts.

Thanks for the tip. I build a few racers and would really like to add the realism of zip-ties, especially around roll bar padding.

1996 Dodge Ram VTS pickup

Very cool truck, especially like the license plate - Welcome Home!. I have this kit in my stash and want to try to build it back to stock using the extra motor out of the '41 Plymouth kit. -
Another test paint job that turned out well!

Cheaper nail polish can be found at most of the "Dollar" stores and occasionally on the WalMart clearance shelves. I have a drawer full of colors, waiting to be used and I have not paid more than $3 + tax for any of them. -
Probably one of Kyle's "better" days, never was much of a driver. Beautiful work on that damage, looks very realistic.
-
I have not tried polishing out "glass' yet but I would suggest great care in handling the pieces while polishing. They are a bit more brittle than the styrene bodies and can snap more quickly.

Ford Racing got it right on this particular car, and your build is a testament to that beautiful beast. Years ago (around 50+/-) I had the IMC GT-40, a very intimidating kit, it never got built. Would like to find one of those or a Revell, like this one, to take my chances again.

Good looking conversion on that interior. One question, will there be a gap between the ends of the seat and the new interior panel? If so what are your plans to fix it? Inquisitive minds want to know?
