  1. Both are beautiful builds, but I really love that Mustang. Those Eastern Airline sponsor decals bring back a lot of memories. Very nice work. Thanks for sharing it.
  2. Just last weekend I went to a Southeast Gassers meet at the local dragstrip. They reminded me of those glory days of drag racing when the cars were actually driven and looked similar to showroom cars. This build brings back those same memories. Beautiful execution of an exceptional racer. Thanks for sharing it.
  3. I would say probably so. There is a small dent along the side of the headlight opening which indicates a collision of some sort. The extent will only be known when the Bondo is stripped away.
  4. Beautiful T-Bird, I've always been a fan of Rickie Smith. Thanks for sharing it with us.
  5. ROAD CONSTRUCTION. Interstate 77 through my county in NC has been under construction for almost two years and the "suggested" finish date is 8-10 months away. The work is atrocious, new concrete is rougher than the old stuff, But the real problem is the congestion, I-77 is one of the major arteries from north to south. To help alleviate some of the problem, there are electronic signs advising alternate routes, which only makes my trip into town worse, because I have avoided the interstate like the plague. Now I have to contend with heavy truck traffic on a two-lane highway that was not designed for it, and that is the route the 45 mph crawlers like to take into town. Yesterday I came back down the south side of the interstate, which right now is open, and watched an eight-mile backup of two lanes of trucks and cars on the northbound side, to say it was crawling would be an exaggeration. So far there have been 12 fatalities in nine accidents since this construction started. Sure would like to have a helicopter at my disposal.
  6. I think that shop needs to be checked for a pigeon infiltration; looks like that fuel tank was one of their favorite roosting places. Sorry to hear about this shoddy work. But, as has been said before, pride is no longer a politically correct idea.
  7. I doubt I can add any more accolades to this build. I am totally awestruck over the cleanliness of this build. As others have said, with your photography this one looks more real than some real ones. You sir, have set the bar to a whole new level on realism. Thank you for sharing it.
  8. Depends on how bad the glue is. Light foul-ups can be sanded out, but then you will need to polish the windshield the same as if it were a show quality paint job. Takes time and patience and a deft hand so as not to crack the more brittle windshield plastic.
  9. Wow, can't believe I missed this one. That is one beautiful Gasser, love the stance, factory color, and the driver with his T-shirt and jeans. The Southeast Gassers are going to be at the local dragstrip today and tomorrow, hope to get down there and take a bunch of pictures, plus get my eardrums ripped out from those screaming machines. Anyway, that is one might fine looking Gasser.
  10. Not really much of the new stuff on TV interests me. Have been streaming: 1. Crossing Jordan (got a crush on Jill Hennessey) 2. CSI, with Gill Grissom and Katherine 3. Blue Blood, rerunning the series 4. Last Man Standing (fits my political philosophy) 5. Mountain Men (although getting burned out on the "cry for help" just before a commercial break, then return to some menial disturbance.)
  11. Very nice looking 'T, beautiful paint work. The box says "vintage brass car", is this kit actually made from brass? Also what scale (approximately) is it ? I really like it.
  12. Some good advice in this post. IMHO stay away from the "Flower Power" bug, that is, unless you really enjoy scraping and sanding flash. I have/had pictures, unfortunately they are on my dead computer.
  13. Cool blue Pony. Very clean build, I like it.
  14. Cool concept and it even has a seat for Jungle Pam - hubba hubba.
  15. I have found acrylic nail filler to be a good choice for filling holes, etc. You can buy a complete kit in the cosmetic section of WalMart or any beauty supply store; it is the same stuff all these fingernail designers use. There is a bit of a learning curve with it and it does not like dehydrators. It is also quite difficult to sand, but when dried, and it does dry rather quickly, paint does not have any effect on it. There does not seem to be any day-later shrinkage either. You might want to give it a try.
  16. Was it fun? For a 14 year-old wanting to drive anything it was a blast. However, that training session quickly turned into "letting" me plow fields and do other mundane jobs on the tractor. Looking back those many years ago, yes it was fun.
  17. Excellent work, really like the weathering you have done. I learned to drive a tractor on one of these many, many years ago.
  18. As the others have said this has a very realistic look. Especially like the pot holes and the dirt piled up alongside the curb. Excellent diorama.
  19. Going to be an interesting build. Really like these obscure, low-buck racers. Keep those updates coming.
  20. Had to return some pants to JCPenney's today. No problem with the return, cashier very friendly and quickly refunded my money. Went on into the store to find a pair of pants that I wanted, went back to the "Customer Service ??" station and there was no one there, looked around, didn't see a soul. Walked to another station, same thing. Another couple was waiting at this one, waited for a while and finally the clerk showed up. I realized just how easy it would have been to walk out of the store with my merchandise, there was no security tag attached to it. When I left there I dropped by the local "CookOut" to get a milkshake. Both lines were backed up. At this facility the exit lane drives through the entry lane, a very dumb set-up. Anyway I stayed back so as not to block the exit. You guessed it, a couple of cars drove around me and blocked the exit lane. Really wanted to have a word or two with them, but decided the best way was to just leave, come home and have some of my own ice-cream. Of course that milkshake would have made the 30 mile drive home a bit more enjoyable.
  21. Might sweet step-side. Don't you just love it when a bunch of different kit parts come together and make a winner. Nice choice of colors also.
  22. That is some really nice weathering. It is going to look good altogether.
  23. Have the same question. Picked up a couple cans of the Extreme Lacquer at Michael's today. They had about six cans of Root Beer and three cans of Inca Gold that still had the seal around the cap, a hodge-podge of other colors all had the seals broken and one can of clear felt quite light. Used my 20% off coupon and the remnants of a gift card; total they cost me less than $2.00. So, as far as costs of paint I am not really too worried, but the idea of possibly messing up a build bothers me. Another question, the label says "paint, primer, sealer, all in one can: Is that realistic or do I need to lay a primer coat before using this stuff? Or is there a possibility of the extra primer causing problems? So many questions, inquisitive minds want to know. Guess the answer is to give it a try and see what happens, on scrap of course. When I get a chance to try it, I will report the results.
  24. These kits are somewhat underrated IMHO. Will be following this build, I like the direction you are taking. One question: Once you raise the fenders how are you going to reconcile the running board and the remaining longer door sides?
  25. Stopped by my local Ollie's today (30 miles one way) all they had were the Camaro, the 49 Merc, Pumper Firetruck (plenty of those), and a couple if the IH kits. There were also a couple of the Civil War Artillery kits - 2 Confederate and one Union. There was a lot of bare shelf space, so evidently they had a selection. When we have the local model show I will usually set up a table to sell off a few of my overstock of kits. Couple of years back I had a '62 Chevrolet Convertible I had bought at Ollie's a couple years earlier. Normally I will remove the sales stickers, even the Hobby Lobby stickers and place my price tag on there. On this particular Chevy kit I had forgotten to remove the sticker, some guy came by and bought the kit for the price I was asking. On the Ollie's kits I will normally double the price, which gives me some negotiating room. Really surprised when he paid me full price with that big orange Ollie's sticker on the top of the box showing how much I had paid for it.
