  1. Very nice build. To me the '62 Ford was the ugly middle child between the '61 and '63. You have done a very commendable job with this build. Love the simplicity of the subject matter, but it was all business on the 1/4 mile.
  2. Back then didn't all of us use everything that came in the box? Very nice looking transformation. The lady in the evening gown adds a touch of class to the build.
  3. Looking forward to more updates. I built this kit many years ago and one major issue is the front axle mounts a bit too much to the rear, but it can be "adjusted" to look right. Actually builds into a fairly nice looking gasser.
  4. Cool build, I have a soft spot for VW Baja racers. Does that kit come with the two-piece tires?
  5. Beautiful work on an iconic racer, nice clean build. Don't know if it is fact or fiction but I read somewhere the exhaust pipes were run through the trunk and out through the trunk lid in an effort to cause those cars close behind to overheat. Either way it is a good sounding story, and would have fit in with the "experimentation" during those early years.

    1958 Ford

Not one of my favorite Fords. That being said you have done an excellent job bringing this one back to life. Really like the color combination. And yes, if it were to be offered again I would probably break my moratorium on buying new kits. Thanks for sharing it.
  7. Always liked this body style Torino. You have done an excellent job with it, very nice paint work.
  8. This is about the best thing that can be done with this particular kit. Really like the direction you are taking and your eye for proportion on the bodywork is excellent. Keep on hacking and let us watch.
  9. A bit similar to the first fatal accident following the beginning of construction on I-77. A rig loaded with lumber had stopped in the line of traffic, the driver of the rig behind him dropped his cell phone and was trying to find it and piled into the back of the first rig at speed. Of course a fire erupted. When the rescue people arrived they discovered a Dodge pickup jammed between the two rigs. That accident kept traffic backed up for the better part of the day, the northbound lanes were finally cleared for one lane around 6:30 pm, the accident happened around 10:00 am. Still trying to figure out why the second driver had his cell phone out.
  10. Very cool rig. With a different backdrop it could pass as the real deal. The 3/4 front view in your second post almost looks like it is rolling down the highway. Impressive work. Thanks for sharing it.
  11. Both are beautiful builds, but I really love that Mustang. Those Eastern Airline sponsor decals bring back a lot of memories. Very nice work. Thanks for sharing it.
  12. Just last weekend I went to a Southeast Gassers meet at the local dragstrip. They reminded me of those glory days of drag racing when the cars were actually driven and looked similar to showroom cars. This build brings back those same memories. Beautiful execution of an exceptional racer. Thanks for sharing it.
  13. I would say probably so. There is a small dent along the side of the headlight opening which indicates a collision of some sort. The extent will only be known when the Bondo is stripped away.
  14. Beautiful T-Bird, I've always been a fan of Rickie Smith. Thanks for sharing it with us.
  15. ROAD CONSTRUCTION. Interstate 77 through my county in NC has been under construction for almost two years and the "suggested" finish date is 8-10 months away. The work is atrocious, new concrete is rougher than the old stuff, But the real problem is the congestion, I-77 is one of the major arteries from north to south. To help alleviate some of the problem, there are electronic signs advising alternate routes, which only makes my trip into town worse, because I have avoided the interstate like the plague. Now I have to contend with heavy truck traffic on a two-lane highway that was not designed for it, and that is the route the 45 mph crawlers like to take into town. Yesterday I came back down the south side of the interstate, which right now is open, and watched an eight-mile backup of two lanes of trucks and cars on the northbound side, to say it was crawling would be an exaggeration. So far there have been 12 fatalities in nine accidents since this construction started. Sure would like to have a helicopter at my disposal.
  16. I think that shop needs to be checked for a pigeon infiltration; looks like that fuel tank was one of their favorite roosting places. Sorry to hear about this shoddy work. But, as has been said before, pride is no longer a politically correct idea.
  17. I doubt I can add any more accolades to this build. I am totally awestruck over the cleanliness of this build. As others have said, with your photography this one looks more real than some real ones. You sir, have set the bar to a whole new level on realism. Thank you for sharing it.
  18. Depends on how bad the glue is. Light foul-ups can be sanded out, but then you will need to polish the windshield the same as if it were a show quality paint job. Takes time and patience and a deft hand so as not to crack the more brittle windshield plastic.
  19. Wow, can't believe I missed this one. That is one beautiful Gasser, love the stance, factory color, and the driver with his T-shirt and jeans. The Southeast Gassers are going to be at the local dragstrip today and tomorrow, hope to get down there and take a bunch of pictures, plus get my eardrums ripped out from those screaming machines. Anyway, that is one might fine looking Gasser.
  20. Not really much of the new stuff on TV interests me. Have been streaming: 1. Crossing Jordan (got a crush on Jill Hennessey) 2. CSI, with Gill Grissom and Katherine 3. Blue Blood, rerunning the series 4. Last Man Standing (fits my political philosophy) 5. Mountain Men (although getting burned out on the "cry for help" just before a commercial break, then return to some menial disturbance.)
  21. Very nice looking 'T, beautiful paint work. The box says "vintage brass car", is this kit actually made from brass? Also what scale (approximately) is it ? I really like it.
  22. Some good advice in this post. IMHO stay away from the "Flower Power" bug, that is, unless you really enjoy scraping and sanding flash. I have/had pictures, unfortunately they are on my dead computer.
  23. Cool blue Pony. Very clean build, I like it.
  24. Cool concept and it even has a seat for Jungle Pam - hubba hubba.
  25. I have found acrylic nail filler to be a good choice for filling holes, etc. You can buy a complete kit in the cosmetic section of WalMart or any beauty supply store; it is the same stuff all these fingernail designers use. There is a bit of a learning curve with it and it does not like dehydrators. It is also quite difficult to sand, but when dried, and it does dry rather quickly, paint does not have any effect on it. There does not seem to be any day-later shrinkage either. You might want to give it a try.
