  1. How much do I spend? More than I tell my wife I spend! I don't really keep track of what I spend on a particular build, or on the hobby in general. I need supplies, I'll just go get them. And I know what I'm comfortable spending on a kit.
  2. I dig it. Like the different choice of colours. Still smoky there eh? We were down in Nelson for the past couple of weeks. Hwy 93 from Cranbrook to Radium to Banff was crazy smoky on the way home. I'll be heading out to Kelowna next week for a tradeshow. First underwater, now smokey. Not a great summer!
  3. Will be grabbing that Jeep Honcho for sure!
  4. Recently discov ered a group called Anathema. Listening to this band a lot here at work. Couldn't find video for their song "Springfield" but that's a current fav. It's on Spotify if you're so inclined. And here's some of their stuff. https://www.vevo.com/artist/anathema
  5. Got the seats painted and installed. I think they'll fit the overall look perfectly. I've since gone and touched up the spots I missed. Man, the camera really picks up ALL the flaws.
  6. Finaly wrapped this one up. It's the old Italeri kit # 735. I got it for a steal on Ebay a few years ago, and started it late winter. Built it box stock with no additional detailing. Turned out okay. I have to say, I'm not a fan of multi piece bodies! And I found some of the details really fiddly and tricky. Like the rear cab fairing supports. Those were a bugger to get right! And some of the engine details didn't fit quite right. Like the air cleaner assembly. Using the stock holes and slots in the frame wouldn't have worked, as the front inner fender, air cleaner, and intake pipe to the turbo were not all lining up, so I had to cut some tabs and move things around to make them fit. Other than that, no issues to speak of. Paint is Tamiya right from the can; TS-18 Metallic Red, TS-38 Gunmetal. The chassis and trim are four different shades of black. The bulk of which is a Duplicolour bumper paint. The headlights and tail lights were BMF'd before being applied. All in all, I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. Next kit though will hopefully be something smaller, without the multi-piece body!
  7. Turned out great! That colour is an excellent choice.
  8. Not sure I would say I'm "irked," but it's my first day back at work after two weeks of vacation. First time in two weeks I've worn anything but a tee shirt, shorts, and flip flops. Now I'm in a shirt and tie. Despite that, it does feel good to be back.
  9. Nope! Bringing one of my guitars, but that`s it! Just the fam and the outdoors for the whole time.
  10. Without getting preachy, I would have asked first. However, as a long time Jeep guy, I can appreciate this. 93 XJ Sport, 4.5" of lift, 33" rubber, a number of "battle scars," four Jeep Jamborees, 440,000km of adventure.
  11. I'm excited. Last day of work before we take off camping for two weeks. I can't remember the last time I took two full weeks in a row off of work. So we're loading up the trailer and heading out to Kokanee Springs in southern British Columbia. There are fire bans in place, but that's fine. Two weeks of hiking and relaxing. An no cell coverage. I love it. This is our rig from last year. The truck is different now though.
  12. If you check their website, there is ALWAYS a coupon or two! Selection of kits in stores here is horriblethough. And supplies are non-existant.
  13. My replacement seats arrived yesterday! Jeremy from CLearly Scale got these to me in less than a week. Quality looks excellent as usual.
  14. I got the name wrong, but this is the stuff! I really like it as an interior colour, will be using it again for sure.
  15. What's wrong with that?! I think that looks just fine!
  16. Can do. I'll grab that tonight when I get home.
  17. Lots of mold lines on this one too. Mold lines I didn't bother with 20 years ago. So those are all sanded smooth now. Will be getting some flocking down on the interior. Won't be able to see much when it's done, but it looks pretty plain as it is, so I think a little detail is good.
  18. Very cool. Looking forward to the end...result. I've always had a fascination with hearses. I want one, laid out on bags, license plate says "MRSCARY." Because after all, life's a grave. You've got to dig it.
  19. Well this kit has been an incredibly long WIP. I bought this kit back in the mid-90s when I was still working for Porsche. It was to be one of the kits that got me back into building. So I started it, then promptly stopped working on it. For whatever reason. And now I'm going to finish it. Back when it was new, I decided purple was the colour of choice. And I decided to spray that right onto the body, no prep, no primer, big mistake. So now I've done the purple bath, properly prepped the body, primed it using Tamiya white primer, then sprayed Tamiya Gun Metal. Needs some polishing, but I like how the colour turned out. Interior is now a semi-gloss black, with Model Master Dark Crimson. I think it's a pretty close approximation to Porsche's Oxblood Red. Over the years, the kit's wheels and seats vanished. Thanks to Steve (Intmd8r) I have a set of wheels and tires that could be interesting on this one, going to require some suspension tweaking, but it should look cool when done. I have a set of seats coming from Clearly Scale, so those will look pretty good once in. Not going too nuts with detailing on this one. Just want to finally finish it and have a good looking curbside kit to put on the shelf.
  20. Excellent work! Love the 965.
  21. After being a Ram guy for a long, long time...I made a switch to the dark side. Sold my 2017 Power Wagon. HD trucks are hard to find here in western Canada right now, for a number of reasons. I used all of my resources, but couldn't find the right Ram 3500. I then searched for a GMC or Chev, but those are even harder to source, and a lot of my dealers won't sell their Duramax trucks to fleet clients right now. So that leaves only one option. This is my new 2017 Ford F350 Platinum. Pretty much full load with the Power Stroke diesel. I added a BakFlip tonneau cover, clear 3M stoneguard, Drexler ceramic paint protection, and a set of Nitto Terra Grappler G2 tires in a slightly larger than stock size. Should handle things easily this summer. Kind of dwarfs my '97 K1500!
  22. There have been a number of times I almost threw the entire kit in the parts bit. Nothing fits right, and the lack of details is annoying. But I'm in the same boat as you; I HAVE to finish kits I start!
  23. WOw. Amazing work on an awful kit. I've been fighting my Super Stones Ford for a while now. Haven't been happy with any aspect of the build. Yours is just about perfect thought. Engine and chassis is excellent.
  24. Well, I got the dreaded email last night. Will go elsewhere now. Not sure where just yet.
