2008 Dodge Magnum Conversion
Joe Handley replied to Dragon7665's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
If you have the 3.5l, you might be able to rework one of the Prowler V-6's for the engine, not sure on the body work or the headlights though. -
That would make me want to hook their car to my Jeep and drag it out of the spot so it could be used by Mom and Dad, or somebody else who's equally deserving!

OK, this more than irked me today. My Mom has some issues with her legs that have required her and Dad to get a permenent handicap placard for the Town and Country they own. We were coming home from Branson, MO today and stopped at a rest area to find two semis taking up 6 of the handicap spaces there!

I keep thinking back to the old F/S Chevy Vans my folks had when I was growing up, the second one had a 33 gallon tank in it and Mom would only put $20 in it as a time because of how much it cost to fill at less than a $1.00 a gallon. I can't imagine having to fill that when prices were close to $4.50 for regular back in the summer of '08 here in Chicaco, the 20.5 gallon tank in my Jeep was bad enough!

Most Swoopy car to you ?

Not sure if I would call that swoopy, suicidal might be more accurate............... -

You want a tin foil secretary's car that won't steer on anything other than hard, dry pavement? One of my uncles had ine back in the day, it was garbage the way Dad tells it. -

2014 Malibu Hybrid is DOA.
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You would still end up with a rolling death trap. Modern cars are also a whole lot stiffer and contain more materials than than those and will deform in a manner that will protect the occupants while the car is being destroyed. Ditching the bags and the nannies will lighten a vehile, but so will America (myself included and in paricular), going on a diet. -

The Rambler might be fixable, that Lincoln just flat needs to be put down. -

Back on the topic of the Malibu, we have friends who own a house in Branson, MO and met up with them for dinner here tonight. They were telling us their adult daughter (married, teen daughter, HEAVY right foot, and the last I can confirm ) had bought a 4 cylinder Malibu for mileage and found that it didn't get the claimed mileage for her regular use around home. She also found that here in Branson, that Malibu could top out climbing the bigger hills at only 55mph. She's decided to go with the V-6 Impala for her next purchase........... My V-6 200 on the other hand will get the claimed mileage driving in worse conditions for city and highway, will best the EPA's E85 mileage, and has no problems on the same hills (65+ mph with plenty of throttle left ) while pulling comparable weight up the hills. -
Trying to find E85 while on a road trip, and those that do have worthless price spreads.

The Shaft?
Joe Handley replied to Randytheroadrunner's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
You can usually see them pretty easily on 4wd trucks with solid front axles too. Those are different style of u-joints, but might still be made visible within the C's and knuckles in 1/25 on a stock height truck. My stock height XJ Cherokee's are visible and easily seen from the front.........especially when you know where to look -

Difference is though, todays 40mpg cars aren't just empty tin cans with lawn mower engines, they're nearly as well featured as the luxury cars of that era, and probably safer too! -

That system has been around for a number of years now, it was originally used in the Saturn Vue Greenline pre economic collapse, only they used NiMH packs at first. GM probably invested some money in it, but I'd be surprised if it cost them more than the 4 wheel steering on the full sized pickups did, and not only did that last 2-3 years, but now you can't even get the parts for them anymore. -

If they would put "Extended Range EV" system into more than just the Volt and the upcoming ELR, that might help Slusher. Rework that Malibu (as well as the new Impala and all the FWD crossovers) to use that system and maybe continue to use that same updated standard Malibu engine with it, it could make a big difference in mileage and might even make them more desirable than they currently are. I'd be more interested in the Malibu if it were an E.R.E.V. than the standard version. Same goes for the SUV hybrid system, start putting it into the pickups and vans, maybe with power outlets to operated electric tools. I honestly think this would sell to the more forward thinking people in this country! -

Not really much of a point that system anyway, they should be trying to put the Volt's system into more mainstream platforms. As much as I dislike Honda's system (seems utterly useless on something without at least a few hundred horses), that "mild hybrid" system seemed even more useless. -
Trying to find a K&N drop in panel filter for my 200 locally for a decent price and not having to pay shipping to have it delivered to the store. I hate to say it, but I'm thinking about ordering it from Summit instead........

We had a garbage truck driver like that, and was lazy too, complained about having to pick up garbage that was too heavy.......even though my Dad (who was around twice his age) was able to get it to the curb. I had gone for a walk one morning and and I saw him rolling down a hill that is a few blocks from home and noticed it looked like he had no intentions to stopping, so I stayed onthe sidewalk until he stopped or had blew threw and cleared the intersection. Turns out It was a good thing I did wait, he rolled right on through all while giving me this "get off MY road" look. Needless to say, I called the company to turn him in since that didn't only put me at risk as a pedestrian, but also as a motorist, but there was a grade and middle school just behind me.......luckily it was in the middle if a school day, so all the kids were in the buildings and not outside or trying to get to or from school.

The Best Car Ever Tested?
Joe Handley replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If that can in some way turned into ethanol alcohol, my 200 will burn it! Install some sort of wind turbines in and around the legislative branch buildings, at campaign stops, debates, ect............probably could power the entire state if Iowa just on what the Iowa Caucuses would produce for a long, long time! -

Unless he meant for the whole platform, not just the premium line.
