  1. Would have been better if he said he would unwrap/break the seal on the box.
  2. Its pretty easy to exclude a seller from searches on eBay. If you decide a seller prices his parts unreasonably, exclude him from your searches. Problem solved.
  3. Most sites provide ads that are directly related to your past internet searches or browser history, not sure how the ads are done here. I have to block them or my computer runs really slow.
  4. I currently own to '67 Chargers. People either love them or hate them. Can still be found for a reasonable price (compared to those from 68-70).
  5. Absolutely nothing wrong with posting photos of the cars as long as he is not actively trying to sell them. He even posted in the correct section. I wish more folks would do that.
  6. You can read thru this thread. There is some really good info scattered throughout. Everyone has an opinion on this subject, it is best to do a lot of research before you make your decision.
  7. Others had this problem and it was related to software they used to store their passwords and/or security settings. I will tag this so Dave can take a look at it.
  8. That is a pretty good list. While I was scrolling through it, the thing that jumped out at me was that you could meet the kid, on the raft, that got eaten in Jaws .
  9. I don't begrudge famous people for charging for an autograph. I figure some do it to try and keep folks from continually harassing them when they are out in public. Some of the older or maybe lesser known actors may actually need to do it for the income. If people are willing to pay, why not benefit from it. They will know when they are charging too much, the line will be very short.
  10. You are correct. That is what I meant.
  11. You need to learn what the weight and box thresholds are for each shipping company. Use the smallest box that you can safely ship the items in. I know that there is a big jump at USPS if the box has any dimension over 12".
  12. I will just give you my thoughts on this particular thread and on moderating in general. It will be a rambling post. The thread in question started with bad language, which in turn let other posters think they could use worse language in their replies. Those were removed and warning points issued. It morphed into an objective argument of what is good and what is bad as far as model box art (which has been discussed here several times). Then it became an objective argument of what is good and what is bad art in general. Then it was quickly becoming an argument between two members. So it was locked down, before it got any worse and before others could add to the argument. Moderating is objective and we try to keep an open mind when reading/reviewing posts. We don't see everything and really appreciate when other members report things that break a forum rule or look like they are going to jump the rail. In general most people keep things civil and know how to keep things on topic. Once an argument starts brewing things tend to get out of hand quickly. Some of the same folks that get mad at a thread being locked are quick to point out when something is allowed to go on to long, keeping in mind that none of these folks will report a thread/post when things start to get out of hand. There are folks that regularly post negative things about the magazine, the forum, Gregg and the mods. We still let those folks (mostly) participate here. Post bad things about the magazine/forum/owners/employees at the other big model car site, let me know how long it actually stayed up. There are some folks that post comments looking to encourage a negative response to add fuel to a simmering argument. Most folks want to come here and read about and look at models, they don't want to see all the bickering, personal attacks and way off topic discussions that start to fill the threads.
  13. I believe this has gone on long enough. Art is objective, when two people start arguing about it, there will be no winners. Locked
  14. Contractor is running underground wire to my new garage. Yesterday he did the hard part and got the wire thru a really congested area without hitting any other wires or cables. There was only one cable left to miss and it was clearly marked in the middle of the yard. He hit it and now, when I get home this evening, I will be without cable TV and Internet.
  15. Figured out the show - SPEED Channel's Supercars Exposed. 2008 Shoot out episode (I think). Figured out the car - Porsche 996 Turbo Could not find a good photo of the car. It is white and looks nearly stock. Others have guessed that it was making over 1000 hp.
  16. Congratulations. I have a ways to go before I equal that accomplishment. Just celebrated my 5th last week.
  17. There was a racing/reality tv show years back and the winner (I believe) had a 911 that he never showed the engine of. He walked a guy down on the last straightaway (at night) like it was nothing. Can't remember the show or I would have found a photo to post. Anyone remember this show?
  18. Paul is a member here. Folks really love his models.
  19. One recently sold on eBay for a little under $90. It was mint in the box. This one is started and in a damaged box, so it should be worth considerably less. I would build it! Just a reminder to everyone that buying/selling is not allowed on this site.
  20. Dave can answer this better, but I don't think the problem is created by us being able to directly upload photos to the server. I have noticed that a few folks post a lot of photos in a single post. I personally would put no more than 3 to 5 photos per post. If I have a lot of photos to share, I make multiple posts. That way when folks use the quote function for a reply, it only duplicates a limited amount of photos and not all 20 photos in the thread. You can also use the quote function when replying and then delete all the unnecessary photos before you post.
  21. While before my time, I think Aubrey Hepburn is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. For the girl next door, Nathalie Emmanuel. Missandei is easily the best looking character on Game of Thrones.
  22. Since I am pretty deep into this one, I am leaving the decision as what to do with the reported content (there are several posts that have been reported) up to the other moderators. You have implied that many folks suffer from Dunning-Kruger, those don't count?
  23. I can handle it. I knew most of Bill's qualifications before I asked the question. No one will come close to what Harry was able to do here.
  24. My Billy Carter and Midnight Cowboy trucks both have the same wheels.
  25. I truly don't think you realize how many times you tell us about your background & achievements, how many posts and countless hours you have poured into this site and how many times you have proclaimed that the majority of the world has completely forgotten how things work or how to work with their hands and brains. Yes, we have all seen your eco 3-wheeler (the partially completed model has been posted several times). While I personally don't think it is practical on today's roads, I hope that you do eventually complete it. I am not calling you stupid or an idiot. In fact, I think you are a fairly intelligent person who puts a lot of thought into everything you do. I just wish you would stop telling us, we get it. Whether you feel you are degrading others to make yourself fell superior or good, it is surely how it comes across (I doubt I am the only one that feels this way). I don't ever want to ban anyone, I want us to all get along. You, or anyone else, are always free to send a message to Gregg or Dave if you feel I have crossed the line. I am not perfect and my buttons can be pushed just like anyone else.
