Famous Photos Recreated in Miniature
Xingu replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The only one I did not recognize immediately was the WWI photo. -
You can get House of Kolors paints from Amazon or eBay. Be sure to use an appropriate primer with them.

You guys are killing me, two pages of comments and only 2 photos of food (of the same dish). Remember to snap a photo before you dig in. Some of these meals sound really good.

model car mag.com safe
Xingu replied to s10chevypu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No, nothing bad. The difference between secure and not secure is how easy it is to see the information sent back and forth between the server and your computer. This site has always been "not secure". Browsers just make it easier to see if the connection is secure. -
Here's one I guarantee you've never seen before

The Batman we had in the DC area went to visit children in hospitals on a regular basis. One time he was pulled over by the County police while driving his Lambo (there is a video). He was killed when he was hit by a car while broken down on the side of the road. -
Yes, remember to keep politics out of your discussions/arguments. It is a scientific fact that by the third comment WW III is about to break out.

Posting a link to the manufacturer of this equipment is fine. Posting links and trying to drum up business for a realtor friend is not. I think you must have missed the point Dave was trying to get across.

Hodad with 6 pack
Xingu replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
It looks fine on my computer as well. Not sure why it would auto rotate on your screen Scott. -
Just to remind everyone, there is a What Did You Get Today thread, in the Off-Topic area for non-model related items. This thread is for Model Car related items.

Boxes for 1/25 collection
Xingu replied to mikemich's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You asked this exact question back in April and received quite a few helpful responses. We merged the two threads. Just so you know, asking the exact question a couple months apart throws up a red flag to us moderators. -
Then why click on a thread titled 2018 Indy 500?

This thing sure has an aggressive rake.

I happened to be watching when it crossed the block. I was shocked at the final price. -
Unlike this sailplane, the car needs to stay firmly planted to the road at speed. I would assume at least some of those wild flares and angles are there to generate down force. That fuselage would look a little different if it also had to hide an engine instead of a tow hook. That said, I have seen a few sailplanes in flight (not lucky enough to be in one though) and they are pretty amazing.

Paint it gray and put two more doors on it and people will line up to buy it.

You NEED this book!
Xingu replied to Terry Jessee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Book arrived today. I like it! There is a lot of information to sort through, but the photos let me know which holes I need to fill in my collection. -
And the cycle begins again. People blocking ads, and taking away a big source of revenue for them, is what caused them to raise the rates in the first place. Granted, they are one of the worse sites for ads. I copied all of my photos off their site as soon as the rate increase was announced, but left them there on the free account they provided. Now that they have removed the block on photos that had already been utilizing 3rd-party hosting, my threads should all be restored. Not many here, but a fair amount on aquarium and photography boards I have been on in the past. The folks that deleted all of their photos on Photobucket with the "I'll show them attitude" have now essentially destroyed their own threads. I doubt I will ever go back to paying Photobucket (Fotki has been working well for me), but I will leave what I already had stored there. It's free, so it sure isn't hurting anything.

To bad so many folks thought they were proving a point by deleting their photos from their Photobucket account, those will not just magically show back up.

This is all getting to be a drag. The rest of the forum always seems to get drawn into these bickering matches. Most of us really don't care about any of this discussion beyond is this tool still around and is the kit going to be reissued. Not sure what testosterone levels have to do with model building. Thread is locked.

ISO someone with a brain that knows a thing or two about engines
Xingu replied to 426 pack's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
A lot of folks have the skill to fix things...if they would only try. Too many folks don't want to turn a wrench anymore and will take a car to the shop for the simplest problems. Props to Cale for getting in there and trying to figure it out. As with any advice, either from the internet, a book or face to face, weed through it and decide what YOU think is right and what YOU are willing to try. -

I ordered one from Amazon last night and got a notice that it shipped today. Looking forward to reading it. -
Have we lost the poll feature again ?
Xingu replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I tagged this so Dave can look into it. -
Have we lost the poll feature again ?
Xingu replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So after you click Start New Topic, you don't see tabs that say "Content" and "Poll" right above where you type in the new title? -

Everything worked fine for me and the button is in the same place that it has been. Start New Topic Click on Poll tab (Upper Left)
