  1. I sprayed the Krylon Short Cuts Clear on the birth year Shelby Cobra earlier today. I'll let it gas out and harden for a few days before wet-sanding, polishing, and waxing. In the meantime I'll get the detail painting done and start assembly of the engine, interior, and chassis.
  2. Very nice! I really like the silver stripes on the yellow paint!
  3. I was struggling for ideas and with motivation after the Foose Truck build, so I took a few weeks off until one or the other struck me again. While fiddling around, I finally got some motivation, and shortly after some ideas came to me as well. One of them being to try out the Testors Blue Galaxy Color Shift paint I got a couple years ago. I figured a late model Camaro was as good a canvas as any, so I got to work. I used the Testors Black Basecoat, then the Blue Galaxy, and then cleared it all in the same day. After a couple of days I wet-sanded, polished , and waxed it. Being that I bought three of these kits for the engines, this one would be a curbside, so no engine, engine bay, or undercarriage details would be there to slow down the build. I sort of detailed the interior, but after using Tamiya Smoke to tint the windows, you can't see inside anyways, lol. Anyways, really not a bad kit at all, not very detailed, but the fit was good for an enjoyable quick build to get the juices flowing again.
  4. I was considering painting the inner rim and lip chrome, so I did a quick mock-up. I think I like the all black look better as there will be very little chrome on the car anyways.
  5. I got the black stripes painted on Sunday night. The craft paint stuck to the tape just a little bit and it needs a few touch-ups, but it looks pretty good to me otherwise.
  6. Nicely done!
  7. Looks great, and I love the color!
  8. The Copper paint is on the Cobra. I mixed a few drops of Black into the Chroma Molten Metals Copper for a little bit more depth. I'm liking it! Next will be taping off the body to paint the Black stripes on, although I may shoot a coat of clear on first.
  9. I got the interior parts and a few others painted gloss black yesterday and cleared them today. I'm using the custom wheels and tires from the Revell Dom's '71 GTX kit for this one. I know they're kind of technically Mopar wheels, but they looked pretty good mocked under the Cobra. I hope to get the Copper on the body tomorrow or Saturday. Friday's out as my mom is being released after a month and a half from having a heart procedure done and a pacemaker put in. I'll be driving her to her house, and doing some shopping for her and helping her get settled back in.
  10. I'll go ahead and throw my hat into the ring and enter my first Cannonball! I'll be doing the Monogram Shelby Cobra 427 S/C to represent my birth year of 1966. I trimmed the flash, sanded the mold lines and deepened the panel lines on June 30th. On July 1st, I gave the parts a bath in some Dawn dishwater. Today I sprayed the Stynylrez gray primer on the body, and their black primer on the rest of the parts. Afterwards I remembered I still had some chrome parts in a bottle of LA's Totally Awesome, so those will get primer on tomorrow.
  11. Very well done in a great color!
  12. That looks great! Yours is proof some kits just take a little more effort, but they're still fun!
  13. I don’t get out much during the day, but my wife and I had to go to the store where I saw my first 8th gen Corvette on the road. I managed to get a quick pic while I was waiting for her to grab some ingredients for a homemade pizza for dinner tonight.
  14. Nice!! Great paint and color. That kit is on my most wanted list, lol.
  15. Very nice!
  16. I watch his videos all the time and have learned a lot. They are great for learning how much to thin, what to thin with, pressures, and heaviness of coats. Also, most of the spoons he uses have a primer coat applied, so getting the same results should not vary by much at all. He also does primer tests, and various spray can tests besides the mostly airbrush tests he does. Again, very informative especially if one is not a seasoned airbrush veteran.
  17. Nicely done!
  18. That's an excellent looking Beetle, well done!
  19. Looks great Mike! I like the wheel and tire choice, and that purple looks excellent. I have that purple too, and have a project in mind for it but it probably won't be this year.
  20. That's a nice color, bummer about the decals.
  21. That is a gorgeous color!
