Candy Brandywine...
Jantrix replied to Straightliner59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I suppose there's always 'too much of a good thing" but I really like that green. Especially back in '17 when the Vipers came in Snake Skin Green. Very slick and eye catching, which is, of course the idea. -
Very nicely done.

Finger nail powder chrome works great
Jantrix replied to my66s55's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Agreed. Any further experience with this stuff? I'm headed to Amazon tonight to find some. I have two old Johan kits that I have been waiting for a chrome system. -

Looking for on line photos of this Cobra
Jantrix replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wonder if this was a "hey that's interesting" response to the 1961 Ferrari Breadvan? -
If they are, then the ones I have aren't the same ones. I've never owned that kit. No worries, I have plenty of options.
-
What is the next option?
Jantrix replied to TarheelRick's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Rick, you've covered all the bases. I think your options are some careful sanding or painting over whatcha got and doing a patina finish. -
As if it was built for a model kit collector
Jantrix replied to Jon Cole's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I quite agree. I've never understood the collector mentality. I see a huge collection and all I can see is a huge bother to those that have to settle your estate when you die. Or for yourself if you have to move unexpectedly. -
Amazing work. I'm always in awe of you folks that work in metal.

It sure does Al. I remember when you did that and it was a factor in my interest in this build. Revell's '49 Merc and '50 Olds were in the running for this build but ultimately I chose the Chevy because that's that's what the 1:1 vehicle is and I had lots of parts from other projects, that needed to get used up. I do owe you a big thank you because, I've been wondering about what tail lights to use and as you used the same rear fenders as I did, and I think I have a set of those tail lights floating around here somewhere. So thanks very much for posting those photos. ?

I appreciate the busted windscreen. Nice detail that. Well done.

Folks, I'm sorry if I've been a bit of an absentee organizer here. I believe that anyone who starts an CBP, should be active and involved in the thread and posting frequently to help keep people interested and engaged. Due to the new job and work on the farm, my build time has been very limited. And when that happens I tend to focus on one particular build that I'm most interested in. I'll try harder to be more involved here. Build on.

I've been an electro-mechanical technician for nearly thirty years now. I've an excellent resume that includes four Fortune 500 companies. I've worked on some of the most intricate machines and electronics anywhere. I'm a veteran. And the fact that a person with no appreciable skills or the character to actually be successful in a job, but is willing to be a fool on Instagram, is doing better than me financially, is nearly rage inducing. And I'm a pretty mild mannered fella. I know, no one ever said life is fair. But this is pushing it too far.

Black Cherry paint
Jantrix replied to Andrew D the Jolly Roger's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I used the same color for a customer build. It's quite nice. Check the Duplicolor line at whichever auto parts store carries the best selection. PepBoys in my experience. -
Thanks for the info Zed. Honestly I prefer my design with the Desoto grill over the Caddy Dagmars, so I'm really happy with what I have here. I can't wait to see it painted.

Terrific build, super clean and tidy. Outstanding.

Jantrix replied to Claude Thibodeau's topic in Model Cars
Very impressive. Would have liked to see a WIP thread. -
1964 Comet Crash - Opinions?
Jantrix replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Honestly this sort of thing is pretty common. A fella puts time and years into a car and the very second it's drivable (allegedly) he's out on it. It's a very understandable. I've done it myself when I was helping friends out with their cars, back in the day. Is it stupid? Yep. But there aren't too many car guys who haven't done it at least once. -
Thanks guys. This one is coming together slow but sure. Having channeled the body over the frame a bit everything needs to be massaged a little or a lot. I've got plan for paint, finally. I will go with the front stripe like the original vehicle, but I'm reversing the colors. The vehicle will be lighter than the stripe. The body will be Testors lacquer Graphite Dust and the stripe will be Revving Red , from the same line. I will then clear with Duplicolor 1K Ultra Gloss. I'm going to do a test paint very soon and I'll post up the results.

Getting some details in there. Gas tank and the radiator. Added a shroud and electric fan. Getting ready to paint the chassis.

Stock frame. Altered plenty though.

'32 Chevrolet Cabriolet....Traditional-ish...Update 7/23/22
Jantrix replied to Plowboy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Check the SBC in the ZZTop '33 Coupe. Both the belts and headers are designed to fit in a narrow engine bay. -
Looking good!
