Great build! Guess it's orange because of Amsterdam's relation to Holland (their traditional national color being orange)?
-
...depends on how you do it, imho. On modern cars like this I usually use 2k clear and that is very resistant. Meaning it is not a problem at all to mask the parts that have to be painted (flat or semi-gloss) black. If you use an acrylic (water-based) black paint for that, you can practically make corrections ("scratching off") later on using a toothpick, in case you have excess that needs to be removed. As regards your model, I really like it, and nice detailing on the engine!

Great kit and a great result from you Will!

This is just lovely!

If you don't mind some words in German, here is a link to a presentation of the kit on a German forum. Images will speak for themselves, I guess. If there should be the need for translation, let me know: http://www.wettringer-modellbauforum.de/forum/index.php?page=Thread&postID=582023#post582023

Hasegawas Lamborghini Miura SV....new update!
Tommy124 replied to Dann Tier's topic in WIP: Model Cars
If you allow once more, Dann... Coming back to the aforementioned PE honeycomb grille parts... They are available for purchase now. I have my own parts already and they do look great. I would have liked to insert a link to the shopsite of MBM Munich (the seller) but they have an issue with setting the new site up IT-wise at the moment, so I'll post a link to their seller's section of a German modeler's forum instead. I hope that's okay. You can see images, dimensions and prices there. Here you go: http://www.wettringer-modellbauforum.de/forum/index.php?page=Thread&postID=836012#post836012 As I mentioned before, I don't have any commercial ties to this, but if someone should be interested in this, I'll gladly help. So if any of you would like me to help make contact to Fredl (that's the guy), please send a PM.- 213 replies

Have to join all the praises here, Daniel... really great job on this one. I do have an old AMT kit of the Monza SS (this one: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/210280-amt-2214-monza-ss). Is there any connection between the promo models and the AMT kit?

Looking good Will! I can see two things on these photos: 1. it's a great kit and 2. you did a great job on it!

I don't know which is the greater miracle... the build's quality itself...? Or the mere fact that it's actually finished now?? Well, I guess I'll go for the build! LOL! One fact about closely following a great WIP is that at some stage you KNOW there will be a great result eventually. But this is not just a "great" result, it's a fantastic one - the same fantastic that applies to your skills, your dedication, your innovative methods and your patience. Even though you have permanently spoilt my appetite to build this kit for myself ( ), I am grateful for the efforts you made in showing and explaining how to get such a result, that is so d**n close to "perfect". R-E-S-P-E-C-T Dann, and looking forward too see a lot more WIP's from you!

Very clean and realistic-looking build!

Looking good Dann! By now I think half of the model is consisting of that much-praised canopy glue! LOL...

Sorry for the off-topic, but I simply can't have anyone saying that ("you're funny") without thinking of one of my favorite scenes in one of the all-time greatest movies...

LOL!

OK..........I gotta compose myself!!

Well Bill, in that case let me tell you about the two most important rules in marriage... 1. Don't let your wife take control about the money, so she can't buy anything she wants and 2. don't let her notice her that you DO actually buy everything you want! Yeah, that's a great kit and though I'm not an expert at all with these super premium and/ or large scale kits, I'd rather spend those hundreds of USD, Euros... (whatever) on this kit than on any of those 1/8 scale Pocher sets that come even more expensive. -
Maserati Boomerang - restoration of my 90's build
Tommy124 replied to Tommy124's topic in Model Cars
No doubt that what he started in the linked WIP did look good, modelling-wise... -
Thanks for the tip. I will check them out, looks like they do ship abroad, too!

OK, let's face the truth - this is an original German car. Okay, they did let the Italians do some drawing and designing but... LOL! Nice touch on the flags, Dann, but I think the Italians would rather not have us stress the German (AMG) engine... aswell as the fact that Horacio Pagani is an Argentine .

Well done Tony! I remember that "thing" from some older video games, think it was Gran Turismo 4 or 5...?
-
Extremely clean build, brilliant result! Love it! Do these (Firestone) printed wheels come with the kit?
-
Beautiful Olds! The color looks perfect on it! Would love to see more images though (engine + chassis)...

Clear Over Alclad?
Tommy124 replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for these much more scientifically founded statements. In fact, I have not yet used MLQ over a black base so far because results have been great without that, but I will surely do some comparative testing. I guess for the same reasons they (Alclad) recommend to use a black Enamel base coat?
