  1. If I may add one (last) thing regarding the honeycomb grille parts... As the webshop now is online again, I'd like to provide the link. The shop is in German but as I said, images will speak for themselves. The link is: http://www.mbm-munich.com/Eigene-Produkte/eigene-produkte.html
  2. John, your progress on this Vette looks beautiful! I will be following this. I believe the point about using the Microscale film is that you have to be aware of the decal's poor state beforehand. Once they disintegrate in the water, it's too late. So maybe one should use the film precautiously on all old decals...
  3. Hi Zoltan, this is a good kit from ROG that can make a nice model even when built box-stock. Whereas I have seen some built and painted in quite exotic colors (such as pearlized purple... - and it looked good!), I like your color choice too. I'm just not quite sure about white wheels...? Do you plan on making the orange trim line on the bottom of the car? In that case, even orange wheels could look great along with that. Just saying... Either way, I will be following your build.
  4. Nice build! I thought that block looks very much like Viper too!
  5. I agree with you that it's up to personal preference at such a late, important stage of the build. Plus I have to add that the color I use for these paintings (Revell Aqua Color 302 - this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/36302-Revell-Aqua-Color-302-Schwarz-RAL-9005-Seidenmatt-16-39-EUR-100ml/323595360769?epid=1604197441&hash=item4b57c95a01:g:dXcAAOSwYj9cEQhu:rk:2:pf:0) doesn't seem to be easily available on the US market. Theses ROG Aqua Colors are not really great colors for airbrushing in general, but I like their consistency on the 2K and the possibilities of easily correcting (masking) faults, as I mentioned earlier on. However, I believe there are similar acrylics from Testors etc. Thanks by the way for your compliment on the Countach!
  6. Thanks both... Very helpful and good to know where to get all this well-founded information in case I "happen" to do one of these kits. Quite a bit of "extra work" to do on all of these Camaro first gen kits, it seems. Looks like the Revell '69 is the less flawed of them, right? Wait - don't tell me! Got enough work to do on that already!
  7. Sorry, but I have to disagree here. I have used semi-gloss acrylic black paint (applied by airbrush) on several models in order to paint black window trims, bumper parts etc. - ON the 2k. Of course, it's better the less you handle the painted model after that but the fixation on the 2k clear is good. See my Countach build below for reference.
  8. Interesting approach! I will be watching closely, as I am also in the process of building a Revell 69 Camaro Z28... Btw, how is the AMT (68) Camaro rated in your opinion? I have that kit too and I'll be using it's custom wheels and tyres for the 69 build, as I am not too happy with the Revell kit's rallye wheels...
  9. No problem, Dann. I did it for myself, too... Yes, Fredl does some good stuff at fair prices. The upside of low overhead costs and a one-man-show... For those of you who are interested in purchasing these or other PE parts from him, feel free to contact him by his email address: uaruem@gmx.de
  10. They even came wi(l)der from Koenig Specials... @martinfan5: great model and superb, temporary choice of colors!
  11. Great build! Guess it's orange because of Amsterdam's relation to Holland (their traditional national color being orange)?
  12. ...depends on how you do it, imho. On modern cars like this I usually use 2k clear and that is very resistant. Meaning it is not a problem at all to mask the parts that have to be painted (flat or semi-gloss) black. If you use an acrylic (water-based) black paint for that, you can practically make corrections ("scratching off") later on using a toothpick, in case you have excess that needs to be removed. As regards your model, I really like it, and nice detailing on the engine!
  13. Great kit and a great result from you Will!
  14. This is just lovely!
  15. If you don't mind some words in German, here is a link to a presentation of the kit on a German forum. Images will speak for themselves, I guess. If there should be the need for translation, let me know: http://www.wettringer-modellbauforum.de/forum/index.php?page=Thread&postID=582023#post582023
  16. Great result Will!
  17. Lovely Caddy!

    Nicely done!
  19. If you allow once more, Dann... Coming back to the aforementioned PE honeycomb grille parts... They are available for purchase now. I have my own parts already and they do look great. I would have liked to insert a link to the shopsite of MBM Munich (the seller) but they have an issue with setting the new site up IT-wise at the moment, so I'll post a link to their seller's section of a German modeler's forum instead. I hope that's okay. You can see images, dimensions and prices there. Here you go: http://www.wettringer-modellbauforum.de/forum/index.php?page=Thread&postID=836012#post836012 As I mentioned before, I don't have any commercial ties to this, but if someone should be interested in this, I'll gladly help. So if any of you would like me to help make contact to Fredl (that's the guy), please send a PM.
  20. Have to join all the praises here, Daniel... really great job on this one. I do have an old AMT kit of the Monza SS (this one: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/210280-amt-2214-monza-ss). Is there any connection between the promo models and the AMT kit?
  21. Looking good Will! I can see two things on these photos: 1. it's a great kit and 2. you did a great job on it!
  22. I don't know which is the greater miracle... the build's quality itself...? Or the mere fact that it's actually finished now?? Well, I guess I'll go for the build! LOL! One fact about closely following a great WIP is that at some stage you KNOW there will be a great result eventually. But this is not just a "great" result, it's a fantastic one - the same fantastic that applies to your skills, your dedication, your innovative methods and your patience. Even though you have permanently spoilt my appetite to build this kit for myself ( ), I am grateful for the efforts you made in showing and explaining how to get such a result, that is so d**n close to "perfect". R-E-S-P-E-C-T Dann, and looking forward too see a lot more WIP's from you!
  23. Very clean and realistic-looking build!
  24. Looking good Dann! By now I think half of the model is consisting of that much-praised canopy glue! LOL...
  25. Sorry for the off-topic, but I simply can't have anyone saying that ("you're funny") without thinking of one of my favorite scenes in one of the all-time greatest movies...
