I'd recommend to go for the Cayman S kit that is including window frame masking seals, as this is containing an alternative set of wheels aswell: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10330151

Looking good, Dann! The bottom is looking very clean. I guess you will add some washing to that? -
The master of masking strikes again - great result!

Hasegawas Lamborghini Miura SV....new update!
Tommy124 replied to Dann Tier's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks, Thomas!, It wont be long before I get to that Honeycomb grille, and yes, I think its Very odd/stupid that there isn't a PE part for that grill. The best PE set that I've seen...and have, is from Studio 27, but they not only lack that part, but they only give you ONE "Eye lash" headlamp base...….but you get the "lashes" for both!!?????....who does that???? I thought that maybe it was just loose in the package, or they forgot to put the other one in, but when I ordered my second set...…..it wasn't there either!!!! I still love their PE set though.....heres what it looks like..... I'd like to come back on this honeycomb grille issue if you don't mind, Dann. I contacted a small German specialist for PE aftermarket parts regarding this. He's doing quite a lot of parts for American car kits actually. I asked him if he was interested in making these PE parts that are so dearly missed on the market - and he agreed to do it! At this stage he is creating the design that will become the master for the PE parts. There will be a bigger and a smaller version. See the images: BIG: SMALL: The bigger one will have honeycombs in size 4.3mm x 1.5 mm each - perfect size for the Miura! The smaller one will have honeycombs in size 2.8 mm x 0.80 mm each, designed for smaller grilles in modern cars like the Ford GT 2016. Both products will come in size 88 x 44 mm net, 92 x 54 mm with the frame. The products will be available for purchase in around 4 weeks time. Again, I hope you don't mind me showing this here, Dann, but I find this to be good news to all modelers who don't have skills (and nerves) good enough to drill the grilles open... Just to point out that I don't have any commercial ties to this, but if someone should be interested in this, I'll gladly help. Shipping to the US won't be an issue...- 213 replies

Keeps looking great, Dann! And I just love that color you used for the interior leather. I remember it was call a red primer or something? It's not mentioned on your list, BTW!

Hasegawas Lamborghini Miura SV....new update!
Tommy124 replied to Dann Tier's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hi Dann, good choice - classic Italian metallic "Blu" will look good on the Miura. Great work on the dashboard too. I have the feeling, you put more effort into that one part than many modelers into the whole kit...- 213 replies

And yet they look so good, when being properly built and painted. Nice result!

Great model and realistic-looking photos!

This is GOLD, Mr. Will! All my life I've been in love with it's color, it's brilliance, it's divine heaviness. And I welcome any enterprise... Great process, Will. Miura is once of the few sports cars which may have any body parts painted in gold, I feel. The choice of gold color looks real nice. What is it - Tamiya TS 21?

We are on the same page there Alex... If you go for a certain, specific race car or livery, then it has to be accurate! But what I mean is that as a car builder you do have the choice to build for instance a Porsche 962 as a "private car" in green color - WITHOUT the livery of course. Whereas for military planes, even though that there may be exceptions, it's not very likely that they will be painted in anything but the original camouflage design.

Hasegawas Lamborghini Miura SV....new update!
Tommy124 replied to Dann Tier's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That's a great choice of kits, all of which (except for the Aoshima Lambo) I have built a long time ago. Meaning I will have to build them once more sometime... I trust you will make WIP's for all of them?? If I you allow me, Dann, I'd like to show a Porsche 959 from Canepa, the most beautiful I have seen so far. Because, let's face it, a great car bust mostly all the same colors. This one looks different, yet classic to me: https://canepa.com/1988-porsche-959-canepa-gen-iii/ If anyone wants to know the color name, it's Seal Grey, as Bruce Canepa kindly let me know on my request. I have that color on stock already...- 213 replies

Yes, and I'll do a Porsche 911 GT1 in plain white because I don't like the race liveries... That said, there HAVE been road versions of the CLK GTR and the 911 GT1, so no problem anyways. And I feel that's the big freedom of being a CAR model builder. We can paint a Ferrari F40 in pink if we like, whereas doing a pink Messerschmidt Me-109 or battleship might seem odd...

I fully agree! The final result will look awesome!

Otaki 1/12 Lamborghini Countach Twin Turbo...Mission Statement
Tommy124 replied to Dann Tier's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I didn't check on this WIP for some time. Somehow I mostly miss this as it is not in the "workbench" section... Dann, your progress is looking real great. You are really doing the big scale the justice that it deserves. And I can only fully agree to that. Dann, your great WIP's and the advice that you unselfishly share in order to help others are MUCH APPRECIATED! Your words, my thoughts! The front bumpers are even more ugly on a Countach... Love the dark purple Diablo in the background though...- 363 replies

Now that's a positive attitude... The vents look good! They weren't on the board before, right? Other than that I fail to see what you have "messed up"... Btw is that your masterplan of what your next builds will be, on the yellow chart??- 213 replies

You can surely do that on a race car, but then you'll have to leave the livery, I guess. Imho some race cars actually look much better painted in regular color only, example, see the Porsche 911 GT3R which has recently been added to the gallery... I'm thinking of this one: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/136289-fujimi-911-gt3r/

Maybe Dann you're the ONLY ONE who understands it like that? I guess he went for another yellow because the first one gave a bad coverage, not necessarily because he wanted a darker one... You know with models of racing cars, there's the need for a certain degree of accuracy. This is a certain livery and a certain kind of yellow finish will have to go with that, I suppose. It doesn't mean he picked the wrong yellow color, but maybe he should go for another primer color. That said, it is of course Will's decision whether to go for this or any other kind of color...

Revell 1966 Chevrolet El Camino - Lemonwood Yellow
Tommy124 replied to RandyB.'s topic in Model Cars
A real beauty, excellent work in all departments! -
Well done, I like that golden brown!
-
Nice result, I like the Benz! Did you try to carefully bend and re-shape it in very warm water?
-
Hi William, I will ALWAYS follow a build of a 962 or 956... Your yellow paint job is well done but indeed the yellow looks a bit dark. Which kind of primer did you use? When shooting my Nissan Fairlady in orange over grey primer, I found out that the primer color makes a heck of a difference, especially when it comes to body colors like yellow, orange, white... you name them.

No problem at all, JC... Your expertise and your comments are more than welcome! And I hate monologue-style WIP's...
