Thanks! The one I built is the curbside version, I believe it was a Revell of Germany kit originally. I think the one that you have is an earlier version of the Magnum P.I. kit, released by Revell North America. I had tried building that version many years ago and found it to be very frustrating, mostly due to poor quality of the casting - lots of flash, poorly defined details, etc. If yours is indeed the earlier version, it should hopefully be a bit better on that front.

Somewhere along the way, I found myself with a bunch of late C1 parts, including most of a Revell "Skip's Fiesta" Corvette (labelled a '60 but really a '59) and a badly gluebombed AMT '59/60. I happened across another gluebomb at a toy show, this time an AMT '62, and decided to bash all three together with whatever else was needed from my parts box to finally build myself a '61 Corvette. To keep it with my usual theme of pop culture builds, I made it to represent the mild custom used in the 1988 movie Hairspray. Most of it was pretty straightforward, at least in theory: '59 front end, '62 rear, and Skip's Fiesta for the chassis, engine, and interior. The interior was wrong for '61, but the seats in the movie car happened to have the '59 style crosswise pleats so that saved me some work. The door panels and dashboard were done in tuck and roll, which I replicated by gluing half round stock to flat styrene and the kit-supplied dash. The trickiest part came from trying to get all three to fit together, especially around the seats. Lots of test fitting, carving, and retesting until things nestled together. Parts box items include the wheels, tires, headlights, and mirrors. The nose and cove badges are Model Car Garage PE, left over from my '62 build several years ago. While it's not my cleanest work, I'm pretty happy with how well the three very different kits came together in the end.
