Nice job on those two. That was the best of the C&C movies too.

Green Jeep Finished!
NOBLNG replied to Tom Geiger's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Nice job Tom. You sure know how to make something out of nothing!?? -
Wow, Whoever is piloting that thing has had some practice! I know nothing about drones...do they have some sort of self-guiding collision avoidance capabilities? If that is strictly operator controlled then that person has some talent.

Yes, scratch building is amazingly addicting. I don’t have a lot of kits and I hate raiding them for parts...so I’ve been casting as many tidbits as I can.
-
Thanks for the compliment. As You know, some stuff is just not available or need heavy mods to be useful or accurate. I certainly don’t hold a candle to Charles’ talents. I’m just having fun learning off all you talented folks on here.?

What did you screw-up today??
NOBLNG replied to TransAmMike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just rolled the tip of this pen sideways across the letters on these tires. I don’t know if the pen is available in white, but the silver colour is not too not conspicuous. -
Nice job! Love the engine upgrade.?

Loks like your plan is coming together nicely!? -
TIP FOR CLEANING PAASCHE AIRBRUSH
NOBLNG replied to DavidChampagne's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
That is really my only complaint about the Paasche H. I replaced my set screw with a short robertson machine screw and keep a stubby screwdriver in my paint booth. I just flush the nozzle with the appropriate thinner from a squeeze bottle between colors. If I am done for a while I drop the needle and nozzle in a small jar of lacquer thinner till the next session. -

No buckets unless you have some sort of a console between them.? -
I agree. The cars has nice lines but those wheels do not compliment them. And why in the world would anyone think Camaro tail lights would be accepted by any Mustang fan?
-
I don’t know what type of glue would be best. This is what I did for the same problem...but these tires are solid, so it may not work for you. Or maybe you could stuff them with cotton or something to keep the beads pressed against the rim lips? Good luck.
-
Nice. Colors look great on this.?

I think this is the best looking body style of the Nova. Your pink one looks real fine! Personally I think a stock one will look much better than the Rides Magazine version. Those rims are just too huge. Good luck with her!?

Looking good so far! I have this kit and also a Lindberg ‘61 Impala. They are definitely on my to do soon list so I am looking forward to seeing your progress. ?

Painting my own resin casts
NOBLNG replied to NOBLNG's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks Guys. I haven’t primed any of the bodies yet. They will be well cured before I get around to them. It’s the engine and driveline parts I need soon. -
I have copied some wheels, engines, transmissions and miscellaneous parts with Smooth Cast 305 and 321. I intend to use Tamiya primer and likely their LP line of laquer paints on most parts. Is scrubbing the parts with comet and then washing with dawn sufficient for cleaning them? More importantly I guess is how soon can this be done after pulling the parts out of the mold? Thanks, Greg.

Just a follow up on this turbo 350 from the MPC El Camino kit for anyone who may search this topic. It is 1/25th scale and isn’t too bad really. The torque converter cover is a little wonky, so I added a little milliput and reshaped it. I just filed the pan flat and down a bit so the flange is wider and added some bolt heads. I also added nipples for cooler lines (not that I will ever add the lines?) and a grommet for the dipstick tube. I cast it so I don’t have to do it again.

I know how. Better eyesight than me...better dexterity than me...more determination than me...and Waaaay more patience! You are doing an absolutely fantastic job on this Francis! No doubt the paint will hide some construction detail, but the beauty it will add I’m sure will be amazing. -
How do you get your chassis straight ?
NOBLNG replied to fredo84's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
And.....then an even bigger surprise!? I’m not doubting that this works, but it’s too bad the plastic doesn’t give any warning when it is getting close to it’s limits. -
how do you paint the model pieces
NOBLNG replied to youpey's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I will assemble parts like engine halves and parts that will be the same colour and paint as a unit. Small parts I will clean up the flash and mount on an alligator clip or toothpick. If there is no tab to clip onto, I may superglue it in an unseen spot to a piece of sprue. Usually no touch ups are required.
