  1. Nice job on the hinges Paul. It looks like they work pretty good!?
  2. Maybe because I edited the pic? I originally googled a ‘54 which apparently has sloping A-pillars…quite different!?
  3. You can practice on anything from a spoon to a plastic cup to a rock. The key to your success I believe is the practice. I love my Paasche H airbrush….but it is NOT a magic wand! There are more variables involved with ANY airbrush vs a spray bomb. Buying a good gun does not make you a good shot.
  4. Heck yeah, even a kid can do it right? Unfortunately, failure and disappointment (especially in ones own eyes) are at times a part of this hobby. As said though, with lots of practice, the successes will outnumber the screwups. Patience and practice are the most important keys to success in my mind.
  5. I don’t know, but I would just go by eyeball.
  6. Yes, the Paasche could be used for larger items. The fittings on the metal lids have a nut on the inside, so the fitting could be transferred to a larger jar. I think some of the cheap pump spray bottles could provide a longer pickup tube. I see I have two different fittings here, one is male and one is female.?
  7. Any spray bomb that I have decanted I have been able to spray with no further thinning. I don’t even let it gas out. I figure if it can be sprayed straight from the can it should be gassed out enough after being sprayed twice….never had a problem. YMMV.
  8. There is no paint going through the internals of the Paasche, which is why I really love this airbrush over my Iwata. I just use laquer thinner for cleaning ( I rarely spray acrylics that may require a special cleaner) and keep a jar of it that I can connect and spray a bit through the nozzle between coats. For longer intervals, I will remove the needle and nozzle and store them in a small jar of laquer thinner. I use a pipe cleaner or “interdental brushes” for a thorough cleaning of them and also the paint cup. Paasche does make a set of cleaning brushes, but I found the twisted wire spine of them too fat and rigid to do a good job.
  9. I don’t know anything about the Badger jars….I doubt they would fit a Paasche airbrush. Maybe someone else can verify this. The Paasche jars come in at least two sizes (1 & 2 oz?). They are great for temporary storage of paint while doing a car body. I made some caps to extend the storeage time, but the paint will eventually dry up. The Testors lids could extend storeage time even more. The primer bottles I will keep adding fresh (sprayed from a spray bomb through a large straw) or a bit of laquer thinner and mix it well. The Paasche lids will fit the Testors/Modelmaster jars and vice-versa, but they are a different depth so the proper length pickup tube is needed.
  10. I have half a dozen glass Paasche H bottles that I bought on amazon or e-bay. If you want some be aware that the H and VL have different angles on the connectors.
  11. I had a few of those Chevy 250s over the years. They were pretty much indestructible! It was often “fill the oil and check the gas”.? A buddy of mine had one that burned so much oil that he would get free waste oil from the local service station.
  12. Wow, that is amazing! Where do you get that expanded metal screen? No kidding, I thought that was a photo of a real one at first look.
  13. Excellent work so far Luke. That’s the kind of slicing and dicing I can appreciate!?
  14. Picked this up at a local flea market today. I would have scored a couple more kits, but I forgot my dang wallet at home.?
  15. Nice clean build. It looks very realistic. ?
  16. Nice truck. I agree, that is a beautiful paint job!?
  17. Nice job! It is REALLY weathered all right…but I wouldn’t say over-weathered.? Nice touch with all the cr*p in the bed.?
  18. Sweet looking ride!?
  19. The Tamiya cans spray the nicest of any aerosols I have tried. They work really great on a body or even interior parts. I find that they can’t compare to a good airbrush when it comes to painting something with a lot of nooks and crannies like a partially assembled engine or some dashboards. And colour options are limitless with the AB.?
  20. Yes. I don’t know why I posted that pic. I did make my own for the TJeepster from soft aluminum wire. Copper or aluminum would work nice and still hold it’s shape. I wrap thin wire around styrene rod to make shock boots also.
  21. I just painted the valleys and cleaned up a bit with a Q-tip if needed. I have also used real springs.
  22. Nice job, and good eye for deciding what goes together nicely!?
