Moebius California Flash 1965 Belvedere
dodgefever replied to jjsipes's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
There's been some bashing, but also some valid criticism. Warpage is clearly a problem with Moebius kits - I opened a '65 Satellite yesterday to find the body twisted. I think I can fix it, but I shouldn't have to. I would think a large percentage of customers will be turned off buying other Moebius kits if they run into problems like this. Edit - also just noticed the decals are missing from this kit. Strike two, Moebius. -
Electric water pumps weren't uncommon. This Willys has one for each bank.

School me on Zoomies

I bet it was never raced in that form. It might have started out as a Super Stocker, assuming the Hemi is original (edit - almost certainly not: http://racehemi.maxwedge.com/topics/hardtops.php), then probably a bracket racer in the '70s as suggested by Gary. Now it's been made into a wannabe "Gasser". Shame. -
What do you drive?

HÃ¥kan, that's nice. My cars are boring: BMW 330i and a Mini Cooper. I need an old V8. -
Nice job so far. I wouldn't have given this kit a second look, but it has potential. The engine looks like a lazy copy of the Pontiac from the AMT '36 Ford. Far from exact, but I'd say more Pontiac than anything else.

Compliments on posted models

The only thing I would point out is that it appears you removed the character line from the front fender along with the trim. It should still have a rib on the fender, like this: -
MY TRUCKS.

These look familiar. Nice work. -
I have the Sand Hog kit. It's the Surf Woody minus the bodywork, with the old AMT Indy tyres: two large and four huge ones.

Moebius 67-72 Ford Pick-up news
dodgefever replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
The chassis and running gear seems to have been mostly derived from the old AMT F350. That would explain why the Moebius test shots had a Dana axle, the front suspension radius arms mounting outboard of the frame rails the same way as the AMT (should be inboard) and the near-identical parts breakdown and patterns of the FE engine and transmission. -
Coil-overs. I could happily live without seeing ever another pair of those fake spindle mount wheels. Ugh.

Carbs-Split Dominators
dodgefever replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Dominators were in all the '80s Monogram Pro Stock kits. Easy enough to cut them in half, no? -
Mopar Guys ...DON'T LOOK
dodgefever replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I thought it was going to be this; Accident damage can be repaired. That poor '63 Plymouth is ruined forever. -
The Revell '69 is a great kit. For a '67-'68, I'd take the AMT '68 over Revell's new '67. The AMT might be a little inaccurate, but it can be fixed. The Revell '67 just looks dumpy and the grille is hopeless.

Outstanding. Very well done.

Moebius '65 Mercury Comet Cyclone news

If I buy one at all, it will be to build this, so the firewall is neither here nor there. -

Looks like they tooled up a '66 - '67 firewall. Here's the Moebius compared with an AMT '67 Comet built by forum member tomsheehy. I hope Tom doesn't mind - it was the first decent photo I found of the AMT '67. -
Nice, but the valve covers are upside down.

Evilbay, Epay, Feebay - any of those.

holley #4160 carb.??

As the man said, those are about the best there is in a kit. If you need more detail, better get scratch building or 3D printing. -
The First L-88
dodgefever replied to LaughingIndian's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
You already have the correct transmission. The M22 and M21 used the same cases, differences were internal. -
The First L-88
dodgefever replied to LaughingIndian's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Very nice work. Since you're going to this trouble, you might want to fix the valve covers. Revellogram moulded them with 8 bolts, but they should have 7 (only 3 on the intake side). That mistake was carried over to the 1/25 '68 L88. -
Rubber Duck Mack {AITM}

New tanks look good for length, but too large in diameter? In the still photos oft he real truck, looks like they only come to about the middle of the air tanks.
