Very nice job...that's one of the tougher Tamiya kits...you got it right.

Paul, if you only knew. 56yrs later and 250+ Porsche models and diecast completed. Its been a great ride, enjoy yours too.

You did a great job on this, mine is on the way and now I can't wait

Looks good,worth all the effort.

Thank you JC...that was very informative. We see these trademarks all the time but never know their origin.

Tim....there is nothing quick about a Protar build. The Cartograf decals are top notch...but the rest of the kit...not so much. Keep plugging away at it. Its a cool car and i had to have one in my Martini collection. -
Gary, As always, thanks for the kind words. Maybe next up is a resin Jag, just got some cool wheels and tires for it from Miniatures and Replicas of MD.

Thanks JC, just gotta luv them lil bunnies..

Nifty little car, not bad for a quik build.

Making good use of some enforced time off. These are two of Aoshima Beemax's Porsche 935 K2 as raced by the Kremer group. Kit had decals for both versions so why not do em both. Bought an extra kit and the photo etch set to go with them. Doing two at once is extra work but in the long run saves time especially when it comes to painting. White car is painted with Tamiya TS-26 white. Green car is a custom mix of Gunze Sangyo H-46 Emerald Green with some "other stuff" added to make it match the decals. Turns out the decals were not going to be on the same car but on the bright side the two of them match. These kits went together very well and I can't say enough for Aoshima's quality. Further description below the photos. Thanks for looking. Chassis has a surprising amount of detail considering these are mostly curbside. PE discs are nice but this is the only time you will see them. Seatbelts came with the PE set and the material was nice but it took some super sticky glue to keep them together. At least they gave me extra and now I can make some more . Interior was rather sparse but what was there was good. All finished and decalled. This job took most of two days. Decals were very good and responded to solvent and heat well. Those fender vents are usually a terror to decal over but the decals made it easy peazy. Either that or I am getting used to it. Rear end view. There were extra PE aero tabs in the kit but I could not find any reference where they used them . So the only ones i found were the ones over the rear fenders. Engine plate is also PE. I left the wheel covers off on Bob Wollecks car because sometimes they used them and sometimes not. The kit windshield wipers were OK but I liked the PE ones better. These required some special bending, painting and gluing techniques. And 10 times the work. Heres the reason for doing both versions. Its kind of a theme here. Some previous builds in a shot of the whole tribe. Back two are 1/20 Tamiya. #2 white car is a Testors/Gunze 934 variant, #4 car is a modified diecast and not so good one at that, smaller 1/43 one is more of the same. 70 & 51 are the current build, and front center is Tamiya's 1/24 934.

Cool color...keep up the good work, you are doing great.

Scott...saw this as a work in progress. It really turned out brilliant. Very nice job. Your paint combo just jumps...good choice. Wheel color was a nice choice too. I'd put this one in my collection any day of the week.

Looks real good so far Tim. Carbon fibre is an artform all by itself and it looks like you have it mastered.

Thank you Art, compliments from another modeler are always appreciated. How is your F-3000 coming along. Should be just about done now last I saw.

Dave....thanks for putting this up. As you know I have this kit so I will be watching your build closely. I am glad I was inspiration for you. -
Dave..thank you for the compliment.....is your kit the Otaki 1/28 or the Silver City Model resin version. I just recently got the resin and have the Otaki done for many years. If you have the resin I would luv to know how you are making out. That kit was hi on my want list for several years.

Thanks Tim, appreciate the compliments. Planning on taking this to NNL in Sept (if it happens) and you can see it in person.

Andy...outstanding scratch build work. I can really relate to this as I just went through this with a recent build. Thanks for posting this and the Indy car WIP. BTW I found an Etzel engine for my kit. Replicars and Minatures had it. You were my inspiration. -
Dave...I have that kit too. Its1/28 and molded in green. It is supposed to be the AVS Shadow MkI .It's close but no cigar. I built it box stock many years ago when no reference was available. Like before the internet existed. I recently bought a resin of this car by Silver City Models and a much better model. They are on Ebay if you are interested. I also have a very funny story concerning the Otaki kit if you are interested. Its a good memory.

Trevor.....how nice to hear from you...its been awhile. Thought you were on here. I have his Riley/Scott in the wings. Nice to hear he is still doing kits. Thanks for the compliments. You weren't kidding when you said it was a bear.

I usually get a build done in about 10 days. This one sat on my bench over 4 months so I barely had the patience. Sometimes you just have to really dig deep for the nerve and do it. Thanks for the compliments by the way.

This project has finally come to a conclusion. Over 4 months on the bench, much scratch building and testing and now its done. This is the 1974 Shadow DN4 The Jackie Oliver drove to the championship. Kit is 1/24 and made by Formula Canada. Resin, rubber and photo etch. Kit is long discontinued. Kit is not for the feint hearted. The wing attachment was the most problematic. Many details were added. See captions under the photos for more in depth description of this build. And thanks for looking. Scratch built wing attachment parts and the original resin parts. Kit parts were never going to support the wing and getting it attached and level would have been near impossible. The wing all test fitted and pinned together. Getting it right took several tries. I used the rear suspension from a Tamiya 1/20 Alfa Romeo. Not prototypical correct but much sturdier than the kit. It was heavily modified. Rear suspension all complete and painted. Not exactly pretty but you won't see much of it. Its main job is to hold the rear wheels and tires where they are supposed to be. Finished interior. Seatbelts are 2mm silk thread with Crazy Modeler hardware. Kit had PE seatbelts that just wouldn't do. Scratchbuilt gear shift from a carved straight pin, steel rod and JB Weld Quik. Up on its wheels and all decalled. Wheels did not steer in the kit. Mine are poseable. I left the radiator guard natural and added some screen. Rear end veiw shows the wing attachment all painted and detailed. Wired the distributor too. Getting the angles on the intake trumpets was fun. JB Weld to the rescue again. I like to have the came model in different scales. The diecast is a 1/55 Corgi. Not the same but close. Had to doctor the windscreen with some black tape. Screen fit well but the glue joint was not so good looking. Mirrors were a real terror, I did them last.

Super job, interior is a knock out. -
Outstanding build. The paint is killer. Wild Cherry Pearl is very difficult to photo to get the pearl look and you did an excellent job. That color is also discontinued and i think I bought the last can in existence. I did an Acura NSX in this color awhile back.

Ben...its a great colour. I posted this one last March
