  1. Mine has been sitting in the box in the same condition yours was. Only difference is you got yours done and it turned out to be a decent model. Thanks for letting me know it can be done.
  2. Wm...I like your presentation...and the model is a work or art. Very Nice.
  3. Wm...very nice job. All the trouble you went to with the details really shows. The back story and period photos were a nice added touch. Thanks for posting.
  4. Now how did I miss this....simply stunning Dann. Black and gold is always an eye catcher. Nice showroom too...you must like Lambos or something.....<G>
  5. Very nice Bruce...well executed.
  6. Outstanding build Ray and thanks for taking us through it step by step. I liked the history too.
  7. Its a great little kit, and you certainly turned it into a great model. Color and interior choiice are great. Like it a lot.
  8. Very clean build, like it.
  9. Beautiful build, Kurt. Really like the looks of this one. The bodywork mods really enhance the looks of this car. Congrats on another successful project.
  10. Bruce those are surprisingly good kits for what they are and can be turned into a decent model. And you certainly proved that.
  11. Nah...not me. I have sat in those grandstands and it is a great place to watch the race. Lots of action happens at the 90, which is where this is.
  12. I have one of those in my parts collections. LMK if you need parts...its mostly all there. Its a very nice car but could do with some up to date wires wheels. . The kit ones are not so hot.
  13. OMG...Gary....if this picture was taken 20sec earlier, I would have been in it. Thanks for posting these, it sure brings back some memories.
  14. A long time ago, at the dawn of my model building (circa 1968) I discovered Aurora 1/25 cars. At the time they were state of the art with full engine, suspension, interior and body details. I bought and built all of the line....well...except for this one. Price at the time an expensive $1.95. The hobby shop I was buying them at ran out and this one disappeared from my clutches never to be seen again until Monogram aquired the molds and reissued it. My purpose in building this kit was to go back in time and finish my collection (which I still have) and build it the way I would have liked back then. Of course using modern materials and 50yrs of building experience. No attempt was to be made at accuracy. It would be mostly box stock with a few added details. Which I would have done the time. Color is Tamiya TS-26 white and Pactra flat blue (original 1970 bottle...still good BTW) This kit was finished 5/27/19. I will let the pictures and captions tell the rest of the story. Chassis was well detailed for the time. Note my knock-offs, better than trying to glue them on and the hold the wheels better. Engine had some good detail as well and some modern painting and a little wiring was all I was going to add. Interior was a little sparse and I would have liked the steering wheel center decal...but its a period kit. Seat rivets were all hand painted and touched up...the usual pain. Front suspension detail is as good as the rest of the kit. Steering works too but not as good as i had hoped. Finished car on its wheels. Stripes were sprayed the same color as the hood. The white line is vinyl tape cut real thin. The body fit fairly well but still need those metal clips to keep it all together. Always my favorite veiw of the car. This was my first impression the original car when i first saw it at Watkins Glen as it rumbled past me in 1964. Don't know why it was at the Gran Prix but it sure looked cool to this teenager back then. Would really have liked to change the wheels and tires but no suitable replacement was to be found.....sigh !!. And probably should have done something about that really horrible side glass. Can still do if I want, but for now it is what it is. Comments welcome.
  15. Very nice model Gary, and great photography. Sorry about the loss though. Do you happen to know where that period photo was taken. Interesting to see the "poor man's Cobra" in the background, also known as the Sunbeam Tiger.
  16. Tim...when the Ferrari 458 first appeared, it immediately caught my attention. And then seeing one in person really sealed the deal. It is one of my favorite designs. I really like your build and the yellow suits it well since that is Ferrari's racing color.
  17. Really sharp...you did an excellent job. Didn't know Graham Hill had that much mechanical ability. Cool.
  18. Wm, thanks for the compliments, the rivets involved a long bristle very fine brush, some very fine silver paint, and magnifiers. Even so I had to go back and use an india ink pen to touch up. The ink flowed around the detail and that helped. It was still some very long and tedious work. I guess you really want to have to do it. Nice to see you on this forum BTW.
  19. Dann...nice to see you back at this project. Your suspension and accessories work is superb. You treat each piece as a seperate model and it is showing. Big scale models take a ton of work but are always very impressive. Whenever I do a show its the fist thing people comment on if i take one. You will find over the years that the suspension on your kit is very stout and will stand the test of time. Mine has so far.
  20. Gary, considering its age and when it was done, this is a darn fine model. Thanks for going the extra mile.
  21. Dave...I ordered a bunch of stuff from Indycals a couple of months ago. He was off somewhere so my order was delayed but it only took 10 days for me to get it, and that included the decals for my Shadow too. He is usually pretty quick about sending stuff out so you should be getting yours pretty soon. Of course for me he is only a hop, skip and a jump away. I have gotten stuff from your part of the world and it just seems to take forever and that is without a world crisis going on. Good luck on your project BTW.
  22. Dave....you are entering the "Gulf Blue zone" The choice of the color for the car often varys with whats available at the time. They may very well have used that colour at the time. Race car builders aren't as concerned with the color of the car as much as they are its performance. Sometimes sponsers have to be appeased but that's about it. They use whatever is handy and often the color can vary from race to race. So the choice of color on a model is often subjective. In my case I was trying to match an existing model because they were going to be displayed side by side. I only got close. And who knows if the model manufacturer, in this case Revell, came close to the original. Thanks for the compliment BTW. Hows that Shadow doing ??
  23. Very Nice. Just happen to have this one on my bench right now so the tips will come in handy. Like the changes and attention to detail. Mine will be box stock except for the paint which is already done. Thanks for putting this up.
  24. Gary...thanks for putting Scotts build on here. He really did a nice job and the explanations were an added bonus. Very cool car, now I gotta build mine.
