  1. The roofs are too different as well as the quarter panels. The only things in common are the doors and front fenders. Then there's the body molding too.
  2. For me, I don't like doing the same ________, different kit thing. I like to change things up or I get bored. I've learned that as I age, motor skills begin to diminish. You can make up for poor eyesight. But, you can't make up for shaky hands. So, I concentrate on what I can do. I can still cut up a body and make something that can't be bought. I enjoy that aspect of building more than adding every detail possible. Something I realized when looking at all of my built models in the display cases, is that the detailed builds don't look much better on the shelf than those with few or none. So, what's the point in doing it unless you're competing which I don't. I've probably already built the best model I ever will. So, now I'm going to enjoy building the more simple stuff.
  3. The pro stock body has mostly the right proportions with the exception of the rear wheel openings. I would use the underhood details and firewall from the '87 on the '86 body. Cut a section from the quarters on the '87 and graft them into the '86. Then modify the molding to match. The windshield from the '87 should fit the '86. If not, you can sand away the rivets. You can just fill the indents on the trunk. Not sure what will be needed to be done for the interior as far as the dash, door panels and seats. I always wanted to do this conversion. But, not enough to sacrifice the pro stock kit.
  4. You're right. It is however, an indication of what's inside the box. With all of the issues these kits have, the boxart is the least problem. Still, it makes people who buy and build the kit think that's how it's supposed to be.
  5. That's a wicked looking Chevelle Sam! I'd like to see some engine photos.
  6. It shouldn't take an expert to know there's trim around glass. Even then, a five minute Google search is all it takes. Ten minutes to paint the trim. That's fifteen minutes total. Even if you doubled that time, that's only thirty minutes.
  7. That proves that the Road Runners didn't come with hubcaps. Yet, just about everyone you see has them. I doubt there was much difference in cost between the hubcaps and wheel covers. I seriously doubt that they were preferred over the Road Wheel or the Rallye. People think that cars came from the factory with wheel covers and hubcaps. They didn't. Those were installed at the dealership.
  8. Those were in the early version, later replaced and restored in the latest version.
  9. I agree with Steve. I primer every single part. It does make a difference on paint coverage.
  10. Why is that no one (seemingly) paints the rubber gasket around the backlight of this kit? You'd think it would be done on a boxart model.
  11. I built this one for my son when he was a little guy. Don't know what happened to it.
  12. Now you got me thinking David. Maybe I should wait and see if they do a wide body to save myself the trouble.
  13. Yes. The engine bays are identical. You'll have no problem stuffing a big block in there.
  14. The MCG set is for the '63 and doesn't have the right emblems for the '65. Also, it's $25.99 plus shipping. All I would have wanted was the quarter and fenders emblems. The juice isn't worth the squeeze for me.
  15. I'm back on this one for good this time around! I really want this finished and in the display case! It's languished too long! I'm just going to start at the bottom and work my way up. I started by getting back in on the engine. Once it's done, I'll make the exhaust and get the chassis together for good. I've been studying the stance and to me, it's a little too level. I'm either going to lower the front or raise the rear. I'll see which one needs to be done once the exhaust is on. I'd prefer to lower the front. But, I may not have the room. We'll see. I'm going to hit the firewall, inner fenderwells and core support with a coat of TS-13 or a coat of Semi Gloss. The flat is a little too much.
  16. And narrow. Kinda looks like they're the same size as those found on a police car. Doesn't matter at all to me though as I won't be using them anyway. Can't wait to get this one!
  17. Thanx! I'll check my stash and see if I have a couple to spare and let you know.
  18. He's the only one that makes a BF Goodrich tire. And he makes the 31x10.50 AT. It's not an MT. But, it's that or nothing.
  19. Very nicely done Tom! You made the most with what you had! The colors you chose really suit it well and give it a touch more punch. Nice work!
  20. You most certainly accomplished your goal Dennis! That thing is bad assed to the bone! I like how the primer color and black rims gives it a modern feel. I'd really like to see your take on a modern hot rod!
  21. I really have mixed emotions about this build! While I'm happy to have it finally done and how it turned out. I sure wasn't happy about having to fix the butchered up roof on this model! I've never had to do so much work on just the roof of a model! The worst part is after all that work, it still isn't what I would call accurate as it still has a scale inch and half chop. Measurements prove it. The backlight was the worst to fix as it's eight scale inches too narrow. Then there's the poorly engineered headlights that are too small. Again, I was only able to increase the size of them to six and three quarters. The tail lights appear to be small. But, I can't confirm that. The body has no badges of any kind. Decals would've been nice. No Chevrolet letters on the hood or tail panel. I could make a longer list. But, I won't. Very disappointing kit! Especially for one made currently. Since I'm not a gasser fan, the decision to turn it into a pro street was easy. Especially since the chassis and core support from the AMT '66 Nova fit so easily. Wheels from the Revell Rat Roaster, rear tires from the Revell Pro Street '41 Willys and a pair of the Revell Michelin TRX tires on the front finish it off. The engine is also from the Revell Rat Roaster. Headers and carburetors are from the '66 Nova. I only added plug wires for a little extra detail. It's painted with Tamiya Mica Silver. The chrome parts were sprayed with Tamiya Dull and Semi Gloss clear. I scratch built a three inch exhaust. It's painted with Plasti Kote Aluminum. With the blower sticking up through the hood, I scratch built an outlaw cowl and molded it to the hood. A mistake I made with it was not allowing room for the wipers. Didn't find that out until after I installed them! Luckily, there was no damage from removing them. The chassis, body, dash, roll bar and top of the door panels are covered with Tamiya TS-54 Light Blue Metallic over Tamiya Mica Silver. The interior is just simple flat and semi gloss black. The bucket seats are from the Revell Mustang Mach III. Thanx for checking it out!
  22. I'd like to see Round2 offer the OBS Chevy as an extended cab short bed in the future. That was the most popular truck around here. They already have the cab and interior. I plan on doing a phantom SS 454 using the extended cab, long wheel base chassis and the bed from the SS 454.
  23. I'll definitely be getting the Bronco and Charger! I can't wait for those!
  24. No kidding! Anyone that confuses a Cleveland for a Windsor should stop making comments about the engine's accuracy.
