  1. Thanks Marty. I’d definitely love to drive something like this. Hi Thomas, it’s a Caddy with some attitude for sure. Still classy tho I think.? Hi EMRE. It is kinda sexy isn’t it… I appreciate your kind words, thanks for taking the time to comment. Cheers, Steve
  2. Black interiors are tough to get right. Some of the best black interiors I’ve seen are from Mustang1989 (Joe) on this forum. Check out some of his WIP’s. As mentioned above there are many different shades of black. I’m currently doing a black interior and using, flat black, semi gloss black, and nato black, as well as black embossing powder for carpet.
  3. Just a quick update to show the slow but steady progress. Interior base is now in paint, including the trademark red “plastic” front inner fenders. For the red I used white primer, Tamiya Italian red, then Mr. hobby super smooth matte clear. The rest of the interior got gray primer, flat black, and the seat, and floor mat is semi-gloss black. “Carpet” is embossing powder. For fun I added a “hi beam” foot switch (small piece of solder), and scratch built the seat belt retractors. Belts will be added later. I still have details to add to the centre console, maybe a few touch ups on the flocking. The console is painted with NATO black, the arm rest on the console is semi-gloss. Hoping to make some decent progress on the interior over the weekend, and have a more meaningful update… As always, thanks for taking the time to have a look.
  4. Thank you Donald. Hi Paul, the foil strips were REALLY thin. I did a quick test, and placing foil after paint and getting a good result was going to be a challenge. I opted for this technique and it worked fairly well. Haha, thanks Mike!! Well as a former owner I very much appreciate your kind words. I’d love to see photo of your car if care to share it. Thanks for taking the time to comment, and hope you will follow along. Cheers, Steve
  5. Another shot of the Vanilla Gorilla… not dissimilar to my Caddy…
  6. Hi Joe, I missed this one after you finished it. Turned out beautifully. The colour and stance are perfect. As always, your black interiors are just awesome. My current build has a black interior, and I am trying to use your black interiors as inspiration to avoid the “black void” look. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Steve
  7. Nice looking Lincoln Chuck. I have one of these in the stash, still haven’t decided exactly what to do with it, but got a few ideas here. Thanks for sharing sir.
  8. Nice one Craig!! I love these types of builds, just screams fun. Well executed sir. I did one one of these a handful of years ago, but not nearly as nice as yours. Cheers, Steve
  9. Great looking build Ville. Not my favourite type of build style, but an absolutely beautiful car and fantastic paint. Very nicely done indeed.
  10. Great looking build so far Steve. I’ll be watching sir.
  11. Nice progress Oliver. Hope you are well.
  12. Hi Bob!! The “ Vanilla Gorilla” !! My friend, fellow member here (Phil Dapho), and local hobby club president, Phil Daphne sent me pictures of this car. Honestly, there is a few ques I may have taken from this beast, but… I like mine better. I’m probably SLIGHTLY biased in my opinion… In all seriousness tho, thanks for sharing this, and it is an absolutely stunning car. Cheers, Steve
  13. Yes sir!! That’s the plan at least. Look forward to seeing you and your latest builds in person.
  14. Hi Martin!! I missed this one. Once again, amazing build, and equally amazing photography. Love seeing your build photo shoots, so much eye candy. I look forward to seeing this one in person sir.
  15. Hi Bob, despite this one wanting to fight you, looks like you came out victorious. Looks great finished up sir! Great stance, mean, MEAN, looking engine, and the paint looks great from over here.
  16. Nice work as always David. I like the raked stance you’ve given this one. That engine grime looks spot on.
  17. Hi John, I was slightly partial to the evening orchid colour, but the green also looks fantastic. Bummer that you had to re paint tho.
  18. Yep, what Jeremy said! Beautiful build Jay.
  19. Yes sir!! Looks fantastic Greg. Love those wheels on it. Very nice . The overall look is really coming together.
  20. Hi all, it’s been a few minutes since my last update. Not a lot to show but there has been some progress! MOST of the interior is now painted. I have started detailing the door cards and dash. Found a few rabbit holes… I have about gone cross eyed doing the foil work on the dash and doors… For the dash, I used the “paint over foil” technique. Not the best photo, but added the “chrome” around the vents, dash pad etc. Still need to add the wood, trim around gauges, glove box button etc. , but thought I’d show progress to date. I’ll make sure I get better photos later, honestly, this photo doesn’t do it justice. Door cards so far… I really like the Tamiya pointed swabs for foil work, they get into all those tight spots, perfect for burnishing. I initially thought this would be the hardest part, then I thought…wait… you still have to trim the wood grain decals and fit them! I will also flock the bottom of the doors. Also started detailing the wheels. Centres are painted, and added valve stems. Still need centre cap, and tire decals. Not noticeable in the photos, but the tires are “flat spotted” to represent weight of the vehicle. Before detailing.. After That’s it for now, but interior is well under way so hopefully another decent update soon. As always, thanks for having a look.
  21. Nice to see this one back on the bench Keith. Funny, I was toiling away on the interior of my Olds today and thinking about Mr Guthmiller and his mad skills! Look forward to watching this one again. Cheers, Steve
  22. Hi Greg! Those wheels look really nice. The body colour accents in the wheels is going to look killer! Looking forward to seeing how this all comes together. 2 “side notes” I thought you were busy beating a 41 Plymouth into submission? Second, every single WIP thread of yours, I see some other magical way to clamp things together. You are the master of inventive clamping!! Cheers, Steve
  23. I was fumbling around on the web looking for inspiration for upcoming projects, and accidentally stumbled upon this thread. So I thought I’d revive it since all the activity was before I joined the forum. 66 Hearse: 59 ambulance: 55 Nomad, patina with gloss clear 66 Chevelle wagon
  24. Nice build Steve, it has aged very well. Building replicas for people is definitely rewarding. I enjoy doing it myself, and also love hearing other’s stories about replica builds. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Steve
