  1. Hi Jason, these are all spectacular builds. I’m partial to the Nissan Z and the Ferrari.
  2. Great builds Oliver! I’m particularly fond of the 40 Ford delivery. Cheers, Steve
  3. Thank you Glen. Hi Keith, thanks for the kind words. I appreciate all the input and support you added to the WIP thread. Hope you are enjoying the holidays. Thanks David. I think the body modifications still respected the cars lines, which was the goal. Always good to hear from you sir. Hello Brian, and welcome to the forum. I appreciate the kind words, it was a challenging build but I’m happy with the end result. The WIP thread will give you a bit more info if you are interested. Thanks for the “wow”! I like that as a descriptor, and I agree these Caddies are gorgeous.
  4. Hello Claude, hope you and your family are having a wonderful holiday season. I always enjoy your amazing creations. Your imaginative builds have so many “little” details, the more you look, the more you see. A master at work! Great variety of subjects as usual, impossible for me to pick a favourite as I like them all for different reasons. I missed a few of these thru the year, so thank you for sharing again. Cheers, Steve
  5. Two great looking builds Keith! Cleanly built, and love the colour combo on both. Cheers, Steve
  6. Hi Phil, hope you are enjoying the holiday season. Another fantastic batch of builds. Love them all, and yes, it is weird that there isn’t a ‘32 Ford in the mix!! I got to see the garage 56 car up close at the final NASCAR race of the season, and it made me think of your model. Always enjoy seeing your builds, there’s almost always great story to go with them which makes them that much more interesting. Cheers, Steve
  7. Great looking builds Bruce, and lots of variety. Nicely done! Cheers, Steve
  8. Hello all, This was a “bucket list” build for me. It has been rattling around in my head for years, and was inspired by a Juha Aurio build from years ago. It’s a kit bash of the Johan 70 Caddy, and a modified AMT nascar chassis. I wanted to maintain the beautiful Cadillac lines while giving it a full tilt aggressive pro touring look. It’s built in a very similar style to the Dutch Boys Camaro I did last year. So…. the body got a “wide body” treatment, rear fenders are flared 2 3/4”, fronts 2”. Most of the trim was shaved, but I opted to keep most of the script. I added the Dutch Boys style door latches again. Front grill was opened from behind, new head lights added, and new turn signals. Front spoiler/splitter, rear spoiler, and nav antenna scratch built, and just for fun, there’s a backup camera in the fuel door. Under the hood got some details added, along with some basic wiring and plumbing. The engine is a 572 from Iceman Collections. I swapped out his valve covers for some Cadillac pieces, and added bootlace ferrule intake trumpets. The wheel centres are from the Foose 65 Impala, with resin hoops, and tires from Scale Productions. The interior has seats from a Ferrari, Lincoln door cards, modified kit dash with nav screen, scratch built centre console and speaker box, paddle shifters, embossing powder carpet, and carbon fibre accents. Many thanks to those of you that patiently followed along and contributed to the build thread. All the comments and input were much appreciated. Build thread : First photo is the build from Juha Aurio. Juha, if you happen to see this, thank you! And my version… Thanks for having a look. As always, all comments welcome.
  9. Really nice looking interior Greg. Those Foose wheels look right at home under it, nice choice.
  10. Looks really nice Steve! The updated 409 will look right at home under the hood.
  11. Beautiful build! Love the colour combo and the wide whites. Very crisp foil work and finishing. Love the magazine on the dash save, great idea! Cheers, Steve
  12. Thanks Jeremy. Finally done…. Still waiting for some sunshine to get some photos. We were fogged in all day yesterday.
  13. One more if I may…
  14. I got a couple of decent photos this evening and couldn’t resist sharing my favourite one. (So far) You can see I have added the nav antenna. This photo (for me) captures exactly the look I was going for. It also shows the subtle fender flares, especially the rear. Thanks for lookin!
  15. Hi Dennis, glad you stopped in to have a look. It was a long haul, but I am pleased with how it turned out. Actually looking at it today, I appreciated it a bit more. So thank you. As for the Riv, we will have to watch what Keith does with it, as it’s his build. I have no doubt that he will do an amazing job on it, and I definitely plan on following his build once he gets going. In the meantime, I’m going to keep an eye on his Nova wagon which seems to off to a good start. Thanks Spike!! I hope you are ok with me using your avatar name, it just sounds cool and I like it.
  16. Oh ya !!! My little buddy Otis is often right beside me at the hobby desk. He loves hobby days! He curls up and almost immediately starts his quiet snoring. He sleeps thru most of the hobby sessions…
  17. Another beauty Luke! As always, a flawless paint job, and clean crisp building style. I will definitely be purchasing at least one of the Holdens at some point. Great details on the air tanks and engine. The “chrome” paint on your builds looks better than most kit chrome. Very nice! Cheers, Steve
  18. I enjoy seeing how and where others build their creations. My bench always gets a reasonable cleaning when I get to final assembly of a project. Usually gets a fairly thorough cleaning at the end of a project, beginning of a new one. This week I gave it my version of very thorough cleaning. I’m between projects and it was time for some cleaning and a bit of reorganizing. This is as clean as my desk gets!! The clutter builds up, especially during kit bashing builds. I tend to build in “organized chaos” a majority of the time. As for tools, I keep several of the most used within reach, knife, files, sand paper, sanding sticks, glue, toothpicks, tweezers… but every 5-10 sessions I do a quick clean. Lucky enough to have a dedicated hobby room with a large closet (to the right of photo) for my stash. My paint booth is out in my shop, which is a bit inconvenient, but certainly not terrible. Most of my “parts box” items are in the storage bins on the desk, the rest is in the drawers. Definitely not as organized as some of you, but it works for me. Oh… yes that is deodorant on shelf, its not normally there, but I had an idea for a silly model project using an empty deodorant stick, coming soon maybe…
  19. Yep, looks real nice Bob. The front grill on these trucks is pure art, love em.
  20. Hi David, beautiful job on the Roadrunner. It is indeed an iconic car, and you certainly did it justice. Very nice clean build as usual sir. You obviously have a steady hand, the Plymouth script looks perfect, nicely done. Too bad about the warped hood, sometimes the styrene just doesn’t want to change shape. The good news is, if you hadn’t pointed it out, I wouldn’t have noticed it. Cheers, Steve
  21. Ohhhh… I like the inspiration. I think I need some bronze lacquer! Looks great. Just sent you a PM
  22. Hi Bob! Thanks for following along. I agree that this would be cool in 1:1. Greg! Well mission accomplished then! As for the door latches, they certainly weren’t my idea, but I sure like how they look. All credit to the Dutch Boys. I look forward to seeing which build you use the door latch idea on… T-bird?… Thanks for your support, and for following along. I always enjoy your builds, and your tips and tricks. It was a probably a draw Claude. Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it. Always good to hear from you sir. Keith!! I really appreciate your support and the kind words. Sorry this thing took so long, sheesh… As for the 65 Riv., YES SIR!!! Love the initial mock up there. Looks like you have that “sloshed” right down….perfect. I’ll be watching that one progress for sure! Tamiya gold and smoke on the wheels? Those are Fujimi if I’m not mistaken. I used hose on my 66 Nova. Thank you Donato. Stylish and aggressive? Hi David, sounds like the weather might cooperate so I can get some decent photos. Thanks for having a look, and taking the time to comment. I appreciate all of you taking time to respond. Despite the challenges, it was enjoyable, and the end result is close to what I wanted. Cheers, Steve
  23. Finally finished my 70 Eldorado pro touring build.
  24. Hello fellow builders! At long last, this will be the final update before going under glass. I have a few touch ups to do, and I’m not happy with how the driver side exhaust is sitting, so I will adjust that. I must say, it has been a bit of a challenge. There were times this thing fought me hard even when doing the simplest of tasks. Several times I had to leave the bench before something “bad” happened… The build itself wasn’t overly difficult, but I swore sometimes that the car was possessed!! Anyhooo… enough whining! I cobbled together an exhaust system with parts box mufflers, aluminium tubing, and exhaust tips are bootlace ferrules with the end squeezed to an oval shape. I have always used aluminum tubing for tips, and thinned the wall thickness, but the ferrules are perfect. The mufflers have been wrapped in matte aluminum BMF. The engine compartment is now complete. Added some basic wiring, spark plug wires, coil and ignition box, electric fan wires, and battery cables. Other details include: heater hoses, fuel line and rails, rad expansion tank and overflow line, brake master cylinder, and a 3d printed battery from local modeller extraordinaire Martin Aveyard (Stoke here on the forum), thank you Martin!! The hood latch/rad support in front of the radiator is a modified piece from a 62 Impala. Not accurate, but it added some needed detail. Oh… I also added a couple of GM horns in front of the rad support, but you really have to look to see them! That’s about it !!…. The bumpers have been installed, front splitter complete with carbon fibre decals, side view mirrors, back up camera added to the fuel door area, and license plates with photo etch frames.A couple of teaser photos before I get some “glamour” shots. I need some good weather, so that might be few days yet. Hope to have it under glass by end of weekend. Thank you to everyone who contributed, and took the time to comment, I promise you it is much appreciated. Sorry this one dragged on so long. Overall, I am very pleased with the end result. I wanted an aggressive, pro touring Cadillac that honoured the lines of the original car, but give it some serious attitude. I think I accomplished that, but I will let you folks be the judge. Thanks again for looking. Cheers, Steve
  25. Thank you Anton! Last update coming right up … Hi Gregg, thanks for the kind words. Thanks for having a look David. Sorry for the very tardy reply. It has definitely been an adventure… Hello Phil, just now coming into what is normally my most productive bench time. Thanks for the comment. Very sorry for the late reply here guys. I haven’t been on the board much, and somehow missed these. I really appreciate you taking the time to have a look and comment. Last update coming at ya!
