Awesome work as always Greg. I see you are doing another OOB build ??. As the others have said, all of those “little” modifications will add up to beautiful finished product. At first glance I thought you were doing a flying car when I saw the fins above the taillights? That small detail alone made a big difference.

Hi Mike, I love seeing these rare kits built. Beautiful build, and great colour choice. Very nice foil work on the trim, and those wheels look factory. Accurate or not, it’s stunning looking car. Cheers, Steve

Hi Michael, I just PM’d you. Going to have a closer look at what I did and get back to you. I love the idea you have, and think it would be an absolutely killer looking ride. -

Oh…. A pro street version would be sweet. Take it down into the weeds a bit… No pressure, but that would be cool build. -

Awesome looking truck Anton! I wasn’t sure about the red wheels, but they look sweet under the painted truck, great choice. ?? I hope you are in good health sir, take good care. Cheers, Steve

Hello Anton my friend!! Great to hear from you. As for the colour, I sure hope you are right. In my head, it’s going to look amazing, now it’s time to actually do it and see how she looks. Hoping to have it green in a couple of days… Thanks Bob! Nice to hear from you sir. Hi Bob, I appreciate you taking the time to read thru the thread, and commenting. The chassis selection was a little different, and Anton (“Mattilacken”) above, was somewhat responsible for leading me that way. I’m very pleased with the choice as I am aiming for an aggressive, racey platform, while retaining much of the stock lines of the car. In hindsight, there are a few things I could have done differently when modifying the chassis that would have made construction a fair bit easier, but that’s the fun in building these things right?! Stay tuned, it should be green soon, and the engine should be complete in a couple of days too. Just need to squeeze in some desk time… Cheers, Steve- 220 replies

Outstanding build Michael !! Shame that the paint fought you so hard, but the extra time and effort you put in to make it right really shows. You captured your friend’s car perfectly, I’m sure he’ll lose his mind when he gets it. Very cool project, and the detail work you added is fantastic. Top shelf!! Cheers, Steve -
Another awesome tip Greg! Yet another sanding technique to have in the arsenal. Seems we can’t have enough, there’s always some difficult shape that needs cleaning up.

Nice build Greg! Love the red with black interior, excellent combo, and nicely detailed. A very crisp build indeed. The two Vettes look great together. Cheers, Steve

Thanks for your support Bob! It will actually start coming together now. Thanks Spike! Hello Misha!! I’m just getting back to the desk myself. It’s been a busy spring/summer, but I’m excited to get back to building regularly, fall is here. Thanks for having a browse thru the thread, as you would have noticed, progress has been sloooooooooow…. I hope your health issues have been taken care of, we will see you soon! Hi Keith, I appreciate the kind words. The paint is “Automotive Touch Up” GM Vedoro green. I’m doing a base coat of semi gloss black, then the green, followed by Mr. Hobby super smooth matte clear on the smaller parts. For the body, (not painted yet) same except that I am doing two light coats of Pearl clear over the green, then the matte clear. This gives it a bit more “shimmer” but still a matte finish. Very similar to the pro touring Camaro I did last year but green instead of burgundy. Thanks for your interest, let me know if you need any more info on the paint. Still hoping for painting the body by end of next weekend. ? Thanks for taking the time to have a look and comment guys. I gotta get this one done, as I have 2 more projects that I hope to have done before Christmas. Cheers, Steve- 220 replies

Quick update! I have been making modest progress with this build. Got the chassis painted yesterday. Sooooo… This afternoon I managed to get some parts glued on!! I carried the body colours to the underside as well. Next up is assembling the engine, choosing some disk brakes for the wheels, then finishing those assemblies. Once that’s done, assemble the interior components which are really close to being ready. Hoping to get final colour on the body by next weekend. Still a bunch of small detail stuff to sort out but it feels good to glue some parts together.? Cheers, Steve- 220 replies

Hello Heather, my sincere and heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Roger was one of my favourite builders, not only here on this forum, but in all my years in the hobby. He is truly missed. Paul Alflen, and Trevor (Bainford) above said it very well, he was a very humble, respectful and highly regarded member here. I learned a lot from him and enjoyed all the exchanges I had with him. We had similar “taste” in cars and build styles, his work is much better than mine though. His eye for colour was always perfect. I also liked that he was not shy about sharing his mistakes and how he learned from them, not all of us share our boo boos… I never had the pleasure of meeting your dad in person, but I sure wish I had. I have no doubt we would have been friends. I imagine he was a wonderful father. I think this will be a great space for you to keep a connection with your dad. Sorry for your loss. sincerely, Steve

Hi Greg, trying to get caught up with what my friends have been building. This is looking great! Love the stance. Hope you have success sorting out the paint issue, that’s a bummer. The “box stock” comment at the beginning of this thread made me laugh. Greg…box stock…. Ya right! What is box stock anyway???

Hi Joe, I’m way late to the party here. Beautiful work as always sir. The engine looks fantastic, and the UPC idea for air filter is brilliant. Your interiors are some of the best I’ve seen. Black interiors are difficult, (for me) to pick up the subtle shades and details. You do it very well!! Love all the details, and that dash is wicked.

A small update… anyone see a theme…?? Finally made some inner front fenders, and started work on the front air dam/splitter. The inner fenders will get a carbon fibre decal later. I’m still tinkering with the splitter, it was a bit too blah like this… I also have some modest progress on the engine. Things are just temporarily tacked together with white glue here. Oh ya, the completed speaker box is there too. The intake trumpets will be bootlace ferrules painted black. I will do some basic detailing on the engine, but not going to get too carried away. Also completed the steering wheel and column. This is my first attempt at paddle shifters, and I THINK they look ok?? Im pretty sure I have a Caddy decal that will work on the centre of the wheel. If not I’ll find something suitable. That’s it for now, I was hoping for a bigger update. The good news is fall is coming, and that always means more bench time. Thanks for having a look. Thanks Bill! The green was a “maybe” colour, but once I put it next to the grey, and body colour I really liked it. Thank you Jim. Hopefully it all looks good together when complete. Hi Greg! That is the look I’m going for, so thank you, I must be doing something right.? Thanks Spike! I appreciate the kind words Keith. Thanks for taking the time to look through the thread. Yes sir, it was a bit of a bold choice, (for me anyway) but I think it will look good once fully assembled. Thanks for having a look. Thanks Anton! Always appreciate your support sir. Thank you all for the comments. Gives me encouragement to keep going.- 220 replies

Jim, I would love to hang out with you during one of your paint sessions. You make it look so easy. This is without a doubt, the best build of that kit ever done. Excellent stuff sir! -
Looking good Bob! That’s a great colour choice.

Hi guys, finally a bit of progress to show. Body work is complete, and the base coat of black is done. Quite satisfying to finally have some colour! I’m going to let the black sit for a few days before continuing with the next steps. The interior paint is well under way too. Base colours are grey and green. There will be black trim, and as you can see a couple of hits of gold which will tie in with the wheels, and eventually some engine parts as well. I opted to paint the paddle shifters body colour in hopes they won’t disappear in the completed interior. I will be adding a fair bit of detail painting to the door cards, and still some detail to add to the console and seats. The dash is still a work in progress also, need to make my final choice on gauges then get it painted and detailed. The chassis mods are done and paint has begun, but the paint is going to be a multi step process and take some time. Seeing parts with some colour on them (FINALLY) has me motivated to keep moving forward. Hoping to have weekly updates til she’s done. Thanks for having a look, and as always, comments are welcomed. Cheers, Steve- 220 replies
