  1. Certainly not a criticism but I do agree with your comment that the stance would have been better with the back even with the front. Having said that the build looks terrific. Love that smooth black finish and the matte aluminum......excellent hot rod!
  2. Simply stunning from concept through execution!
  3. Loving the detail work. That hemi shoe-horned into the engine compartment looks great! Really nice build!
  4. I have had decent results with embossing powder but since it was a gift I can't comment on the cost effectiveness. I'll be interested to see your results.
  5. Very nice work and congrats on the well deserved award. One of the things about this forum is people won't laugh at you. There is a wide range of model builders here, from those that can build museum worthy masterpieces to those of us still struggling to make a decent job of an out of the box build. It's a community of people enjoying a hobby and are very supportive in promoting the hobby and helping others. Looking forward to see what your next project might be. Having said that, there are a number of people here with a great sense of humor!
  6. Thanks Joe, I should have studied the photos a bit more. ?
  7. Looks like a cool tool. I would be interested to see an example of it in use.
  8. Very nice build! I always enjoy your work. Sure, maybe some of the fine detail work is hard to see on the finished product but like the insides of a fine Rolex watch, you know it's there. ?
  9. One thing that shines through throughout this thread is the outstanding photography. Care to share what you typically do for lighting?
  10. Wicked awesome stance, love it!
  11. I would suggest going the easy route and using Tamiya clear sprayed straight from the can. In my limited experience the Tamiya clear has no issues over Tamiya paint and produces a very nice finish. All the other approaches sound excessively complicated though I respect the fact that many people work out systems that work well for them.
  12. Nicely done......it generally takes me 18 hours just to decide what color to paint the interior. ?
  13. Really nice result! As mentioned in the WIP this one defeated me in the alignment of the under the hood wheel wells, radiator, etc, etc. but you seem to have got her done. Of course some of my problems with the kit were self-inflicted LOL. Overall you've come up with a very convincing result!
  14. Spinning the fan with an electric motor.....how cool! I've never seen that done and look forward to following this build.
  15. The chassis is looking first rate with your color choices!
  16. I will definitely be following this build. The depth of knowledge and attention to detail displayed by the various participants in the discussion of the build just blows me away. What a treat for a novice such as myself to watch and listen to such master craftsmen at work! I have this kit in my stash and expect my generally out of the box build may well be improved by what I learn here.
  17. Looking good! Very nice color combo and foil work.
  18. Very nicely done! I have this kit and planning to use it as the basis for a couple of projects I have in mind. I have discovered the frame for the roadster version is warped so I have in mind to scratch build a replacement. We’ll see if that ever comes to fruition. ?. You appear to have overcome the challenges of this kit and produced a couple of great looking models. While I expect old Henry Ford might not have approved of your color choices I think they look great.
  19. Beautifully done! The level of craftsmanship and sense of what looks appropriate produced a truly believable scale automobile.
  20. I have primarily been building out-of-the box the past 3 or 4 years as I attempt to develop my building skills. I have done a little bit of customizing and detailing but most builds are essentially OOB. Having said that I have some scratch building and kit bashing ideas I hope to have a go at in the near future. Presently the stash is 38 kits not yet started. It’s an even split with 19 American Street Cars and Hot Rods, and 19 Foreign and Sports/Race Cars. I have included American built Sports cars in the second group.A number of kits have been purchased because I have been impressed with what people on these forums have done with them. Typically I buy kits that I consider an interesting subject as opposed to impulse buying because something is on sale. The vast majority of my stash is Revell with 17 out of my stash of 38. Tamiya comes second with 6, AMT 5, Fujimi 4, Ebro 2, and Heller, Lindbergh, Moebius each with 1. My one resin kit from Motor Museum in Miniature rounds out the stash.
  21. I still have this one unfinished; it's back in the box. I had a very frustrating time with components lining up under the hood. Frankly, it was a bit of a nightmare that I just kept making worse. I'll be interested to see how it goes for you. Best of luck and considering your other builds I expect you'll do a fine job.
  22. Huh, what stogie, what ashtray? My 4x magnifier is in the basement on the workbench. ?
  23. Love the detail you're putting into this project. I recently acquired a Sherline lathe, just like a real lathe but very small.? I have almost no machining experience but hope to learn enough to make us of the lathe as a tool in model car construction. Do you have any advice or comments on turning plastic on the lathe? I assume very slow speeds to avoid melting the plastic.
