The AM kit left alone is certainly not for beginners but transforming it like you did, well that's next level for sure. I still have one of these kits and would love to do the Penske/Sunoco roadster but realistically I can't get remotely close to what you have achieved. Epic build no less!

Beautiful builds Rich. At first I thought these were 1/12. Even more impressive knowing they are 1/20. Your ability to produce beautiful replicas is always a joy to follow. A lot of your subjects fall into my interest pool so thank you for providing the inspiration. Williams had the faster car in 2002 but Ferrari was much kinder on it's tires and had by far the best driver of the field. Game over!

Just saw this for the first time. So much to take in and learn about. I have absolutely ZERO knowledge about these type of cars but your builds are just pulling me in like a BIG magnet. So many styles, chassis, engine configurations and so well built. Awesome stuff! May I ask what tires you are using for the salt car?

This build is definitely jinxed. Hang in there friend. I've been using Green Stuff World 2102 acrylic thinner with my Vallejo color coats with great success (but not good for the clear). Don't know if you still use Vallejo now that you have migrated to the airbrush but you might want to try it. Just a faint floor polish smell, no organic solvents in it.

A simple curbside build starting with an old Ben Hobby 935-78 kit off Tamiya tools. I converted it to 1981 specs Joest Racing chassis 1 with a Classic Resin conversion kit and Indycal decals. The Tamiya/Ben Hobby 935-78 was motorized kit so I cut out the battery box and rebuilt the interior to look a bit more like it should. Paint finishes brush painted. Vallejo primer, color and clear. Decals sealed with Holloway House Quick Shine

The underclass photos are so beautiful and take it up another notch (as if this was possible...). The dark purple color, tarnished bronze wheels, the shin kicker, the inlet stacks sticking over the hood line... and the little smiley headlamps add up to such a bad ass sinister look that is impossible to resist. It's like the big bad wolf smiling at the red riding hood. Glorious!

Very much looking forward to the glamour shots... but it is also a sad event because the pleasure to follow this build will no longer be. I'm an addict of your craft and now must find a way to wean myself off...

Thank you Mark. The kit itself is old and rather simple but a good foundation. I did a lot of changes to it (WIP was posted) but all was done using old fashioned scratch building with the exception of 3D printed wire wheels.

I like the nose job. The original design was a bit short and that undercut was the recipe to get this thing airborne at high speed. This design alteration really works.

Fernando does offer kits for 1931-32-33-34 winners, but for now I'll pass for now. Next Pinto build will be the Ferrari Vignale Spider from 1954 Panamericana race. Might start it in the fall... It is easier than it looks. Flat clear, then Vallejo oily earth wash over the hood fins, seats and various engine and chassis parts, then Vallejo dry pigments with a brush. I used desert sand pigment for the tarp and charcoal pigment over specific body areas to replicate grime & oil weathering I am so impressed when I see others using an airbrush to weather models. That must be so hard to do well.

Completed a paint & decal job without the usual "gaffe". Time to buy a lottery ticket?

Great new project to follow and learn from. Saw (and heard, ouch) the C11 at Montreal's Gilles Villeneuve track 35 years ago. A beautiful brute!

I used Tamiya X-22A before shifting to Vallejo about a year ago. I usually waited about 3 days before polishing. It is not a very hard clear but still polishes good, starting at 6000 if you don't have orange peel.

Larger than actual size pictures help so much highlighting areas in need of more surface preparation. The body looks very good already.

You should enjoy it, because progress is visible when we do body work. The kit looks very interesting. Does it include a complete chassis & engine or is it more the curbside variety? A replica of the very first Indy winner, how cool is that?

Must feel great to have the body now fully restored and re-painted in a way that meets expectations. The saga is finally nearing the end. I love it when we get close to decal day!

Oh you're getting so close Daniel. She looks so good all polished. What type/brand of clear coat do you use and able to aggressively polish like that?

No worries Chris, we know you haven't been slacking. You obviously won't need to polish that paint. We do have an issue though. Would you please mess up your work bench a bit.... if you really want to belong... lol
