Revell Visit to November GTR meeting test shots
Casey replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Looking at the pics Gerry posted of the newly created roof panel, then comparing them to the same parts runner from the '64 Fleetside kit, it appears to me the Suburban/Panel version has been planned for many years, based on the breaks/seams I see in the runners. I don't have an original '64 to check, but I'm going to guess those same breaks/seams on the runner are present. Interesting... -
AMT '32 Ford Sedan, Molded in...Red?
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks, Bill. I could not find any images of the kit in red, only the two colors you (and IIRC Mark B. in an earlier topic) mentioned. Sure is ugly. -
When did this happen?:

Revell Visit to November GTR meeting test shots

Possibly, or maybe a concession due to how the body shell was molded? Either way, a second issue with the liftgate and tailgate back there and a few other different parts, and we have another "new" kit. The FD-100 looks great, too. Should be a great seller. -
They had a survey on their old site (www*dot*round2corp.com which now leads to the new site) two, maybe three, years ago, asking if they should bring back Hot Curl, Curl's Girl and Hot Shot. I'm guessing they noted the lack of interest and decided not to proceed. Hmm, looks like they went so far as to create some boxes for display at iHobby 2011: http://culttvman.com/main/ihobbyexpo-2011-round-2-announcements/

Revell 1/12 Mustang GT500 now on Revell`s site

Just a heads up that this kit has been discontinued. Might be a good time to consider buying one if you've been putting it off. -
Revell 1/24 ford ranger pickup
Casey replied to ShaunCN's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
.725" or 18.415 mm is the outside diameter of the wheel. This should be almost identical to all kits which use the old 1/24 scale Monogram Goodyear Tracker A-T tires-- '80 Dodge Rmacharger, '79 GMC 4x4, etc. -
Yes, you're right, it is supposed to be a Dana 44, and compared to reference pics I found on the web, it looks pretty good to me. I suspect the vast majority of buyers won't use the stock wheel covers anyway, so while disappointing, it probably won't be an issue to most. With this much pent-up demand, mostly correct is the bar which needed to be cleared, and IMHO, Revell did just that.

The tires are very nicely molded, and the tread detail is excellent, save for the unidirectional-ish direction of one row of lugs. The outside diameter measures 1.130", equivalent to a 28.25" tall real tire. Maybe it's just me, but they looked taller/larger in the pics shown so far, but, again to me, I would consider them to b very small, so keep that in mind if you are considering using them on other projects. Below, from left: Bronco, 1/25 Goodyear Wrangler AT, 1/24 Goodyear Tracker A-T, and Revell Jeep Rubicon tire:

What are you using to "cut" the clear plastic? Yes, it's more brittle than the other plastic parts, but if you don't stress it, it can be cut and sanded to work with the aftermarket mesh. You should be able to cut off the tail light "pods" from the center section using a fine-tooth razor saw, then sand any excess material with a sanding stick, and all the way up to a super smooth finish with polishing cloths as necessary. I'm guessing the CM set is like this one, where the tail light pods slip into the mesh from behind?:

1/25 Revell '70 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda 2'n1
Casey replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
As in, correcting the distributor cap? I think they fixed that on the Sox & Martin version (which is now discontinued), but I'm pretty sure the body shell was never changed in any way. -
Ck this one out. And I'm not a 40s car guy
Casey replied to gtx6970's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't think anyone will ever top Cadzilla with that bodystyle, and this one's not that close IMHO. -
Maybe I'm not seeing the front differential cover correctly, but it appears to be a Dana 60 cover? Not saying Revell couldn't nor didn't compromised the stock release for a future version, but from what I've seen and read online, the front diff should be a Dana 30 which has a much rounder/some symmetrical cover. Maybe it's a Dana 44, though?

This is one of those kits which doesn't need anything extra to look good and you nailed it. -
85 Ford Ranger?
Casey replied to Superpeterbilt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The one I saw years ago at Goodwill was an awful beige/peach color, was close to 1/24 scale, and was as simple plastic body shell with a "glass" window insert. -

Revell 30 Model A Ford Production Halted?
Casey replied to Daddyfink's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
How is that even possible!??? "NONE of us know ANYTHING". I picked up a '30 kit Thursday, so we have not yet reached Desperation Level 1...yet. I have no doubt by the time the holidays rolls around we will, though.
