I am sorry, but I think your gut may be right. I hope I am wrong and you can smooth it out without burn through. Fingers crossed.

Replica of my 1970 Superbird Tribute car
Duddly01 replied to Superbird McMonte's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looks like a great start for a nice car. -
Great work, especially for first projects. I wish I could say my first builds as a kid we’re anywhere close.
-
Looks great, nice to see it in a more uncommon color choice.

I recently picked up a copy of this kit from eBay. Glad to hear not too much trouble to build. Did it actually not come with sun visors?
-
Very nice out of box build.

This is coming along so well, great attention to the fine details.
-
Fingers crossed. Love the color, hope you can save it.

AC 289 Sports MkIII, starting with a Monogram Cobra
Duddly01 replied to Matt Bacon's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Interesting twist on the millions of Cobra builds. This sounds so cool. -
What and amazing build! Going to have to grab one the trans kits. I hope I can give it justice anywhere near this well done.

Yeah, I just love how bad the AMT mustang kits have mold lines right through the sides of the front bumpers, ugh! It is so annoying, I always strip and sand the chrome parts. I use Molotow through an airbrush though and I think I get pretty decent results.

Time to brush up on those scratch building skills. couple styrene triangle side filler panels and a simple floor between the tubs to the back window should do it IMHO.
-
The seats themselves are from the Motor Max diecast model. I didn’t fabricate them. Filling in the backs, sanding and Painting is all I will be doing for these. Not doing anything special in this case.

Not a review, but a future release "hopefully" - Mustang II

What did you do for the window louvers and spoiler? I would love to build Farah’s car from Charlie’s Angels. -
Coming along nicely. Looking forward to see how this comes out!

I actually picked up a sealed AMT 1977 Mustang II kit on eBay today. Now I am going to feel obligated to build it. -
Everything will get painted once the fabrication and modification work are done. I will make them as close to looking like black leather as possible. Buffing flat black usually does a decent job.

Nice color choice, I love a nice teal convertible… and not just because my real 1966 Convertible (and scale copy) are Tahoe Turqouise.

Awesome group shot!

Saw your YouTube video post. Can’t wait to see you finish this one. And not just because I am bias to the mustang. Kar Kraft that did the factory install on the Boss 429s, with wider engine bay, cut even more of the shock towers. You’ve got the right idea. If I remember right the original 1965 Mustang SOHC camers removed the shock tower entirely and went with a different front suspension setup.

Beautiful work! What a great kitbash!

It is going to end up in 2018 Mustang “magnetic” like my real car. Once I get all of the fabrication and mod work done. interior Fab is close to done, body has a lot of work still needed. I did cut in the hood vents and fit the vents from the diecast. Also cut the front parking light openings for fiber optics. Moving a bit slow at the moment.

I so know what you mean.

My daughter wants every car purple when a purple car crosses the block during mecum auctions is the only time she looks up from her switch to look. I have had good luck getting pad printed tires on eBay.
