Fujimi does a Pantera with a nice stock body and nice tires/wheels, but zero engine and chassis detail. The interior is weak and has non-stock seats and steering wheel. It may have originally been designed as one of those motorised kits. The worst part of the kit is the glass has seriously bad optical distortion. It's weirdly designed, very thick at the edges and thin in the middle. The windshield doesn't have much curve though, so not too difficult to make a replacement from clear sheet. It has a great looking body, and makes a fine shelf model if the glass is replaced. Gunze Sangyo does a good looking Pantera also, equally simple as the Fujimi kit, and also an old motorised kit . This one has the wide flares and air dam of the race cars. Not sure what other options are out there, but in 1/24 scale, I think these are the primary choices.

Another potential solution; One of the best hobby shops in this area is the gift shop at an aviation museum just outside of town. They have a good selection of car kits and supplies, but their selection of aircraft kits must one of the best in the country. A few aircraft builders with huge stashes have donated their kits to the museum as they passed on. This way their stash of kits gets in the hands of other builders/collectors with minimum fuss for the surviving family members while at the same time their hard-won stashes are supporting the museum and the restoration work done there on the display aircraft, a subject close to the heart of any aircraft builder. I have thought of doing the same, either finding a suitable car museum, or just donating to the aircraft museum, as a small-time museum doing restoration work on any vintage machinery is something I can get behind.

So, your room is insulated with model kits. Cool.

This is looking great. The chassis parts you printed appear spot on. Nice work so far. -
That is a stunning Countach. I love the colour and the paint work is beautifully done. Very nice clean work. This is quite simply a gorgeous model of a sports car icon. I love it! I really dig the LP400, though all other iterations of the Countach leave me cold. Once they started tagging wings and flares and gills on it, ruining those gorgeous original lines, I lost all interest. The LP400 also had the nicest looking of all Countach wheels, which are only 14". This requires a fat sidewall tire, which has a dramatic effect on the look of the early Countach.

Beautiful truck, Steve. Those colours work great. All round cool build. -
I find the issue with the AMT Duster to be a bit of a sore thumb as well. Every build I see of that kit is thrown off by the incorrect line. I just can't un-see it. I haven't built one of these yet, but plan to. I have considered how to correct it, either by re-shaping by hand, or sectioning in a piece from an old MPC '76 Dart parts car I have on hand. I have also been waiting to see what the new Demon looks like. If it is accurate, lifting a mold and casting a new section to be spliced in might work. However, this thread has me thinking about this again, and I have been having a closer look at the AMT Duster to see just what is required to fix it. It looks as though the whole roof may be an issue. Clearly the line across the top of the side glass (the drip rail) is too curved, and the point at which it drops down behind the quarter glass is not peaky enough. But, looking at it from the side, it appears the whole roof is too rounded or bulbous. Visually, from side-on, there is too much vertical dimension between the drip rail and the roof line. The Dart is far from perfect, especially with regard to the shape at the rear edge of the side glass, but the roof itself seems much better (thinner, flatter), and more easily fixed than the AMT roof. So, it looks like a whole new roof might be needed to fix the Duster. Which got me thinking; has anyone tried just fitting the Duster front and rear clips to the Dart body? For comparison purposes, I have posted some photos; The yellow car is the AMT Duster, the orange one is 1:1, and the purple car is the MPC 76 Dart.

Nice. I think a street Hemi looks much better with the black valve covers.
