1. That animation stand is awesome! I've never seen that. There was a plastic vet from MPC that had some of the same features. I bid on it but the buyer pulled the item.
2. Wow! That is VERY nice. Lots of good detail, yet super clean. The word "sinister" comes to mind.
3. I'll be using this one! Excellent solution.
4. Hey Paul, We were just talking about that. It ran in MCM. They used Alumilite (sp?) I can't recall the issues. It was a while back. There are lots of YouTube on it. I picked up a system that is very easy to use. It's called Smooth On. I use it to cast small parts. Scott
5. One of my favorite kits! You did a great job with it!
6. Excellent work as always! I really enjoyed watching this one come together.
7. That's the first I've ever seen of an ACME Willys. I've heard the ACME instructions are pretty minimal. The response was that they wanted the modeler to put his own spin on it. Yours looks great! Very clean and has the "look." Nice work.
8. I've been to that lighthouse! Great Day in Ohio. My favorite was the Sharshank prison. Oh- back to cars... That Chevy needs yellow and black paint and you are very close to a Bad Man.
9. File this under Oops and Dummer. I had stripped some small parts and it was time to rinse them off. As I do, I put the stopper in the sink and rinsed them and hit them with an old tooth brush then set each one on a napkin to try when they were finished. All done! I pulled the stopper and started picking up the parts when the alternator (a little smaller than a pencil eraser) flew right at the sink and literally swirled around the drain like a basketball and then dropped in before I could get to it. Arg! The the thought process...which is harder finding a new alternator or pulling the PVC trap. Trap it is. I unscrewed it and dumped it in the stopped up sink and retrieved my part. The part was carefully set aside with the rest, far from the ravenous sink. Good choice. The trap was a bit smelly. I thought "I should rise this out while I have it out." So I did. Bad Choice. Big mess! Scott
10. I'll take the Charger from F9. Mid engine beast!
11. Great to see you back, John! Looking forward to watching you complete this one.
12. Finally got a chance to get caught up on this one. Great stuff with every shot! Looking forward to Mark's return.
13. Thanks for all the kind comments. It was nice to actually finish something. Paul, it as about 7-8 inches, claw to tail. It fits on my open hand. The top picture has the claws assembled in the upper left corner. Scott
14. Hey Mike, Thanks for checking it out. The Renewal kit did win. SO you are late, but you hit the mark. Hey Paul, This series is going to be covered in articles in MCM. It will be a build up (more like break down and rebuild) article. I'm just finishing up a photo booth with some great input from Tim at MCM. The car is coming apart without too much damage. I do not think this project will make issue 109. Hopefully it will show in 110. Thanks to everyone who voted and provided input! Scott
15. This is a really kool kit by Steel Warcraft I found on line. My wife, Nani gave it to me for my birthday. It's really fun to build. I built it non-stop and it took about 4 hours. There were no real problems. I had to rebuild the tail because I got a couple parts upside down. You can see I was pretty careful about setting up for the build. All the nuts and bolts were put in little containers and I guilt over a tray to catch any parts that fall. (It worked.) I also recommend getting a good pair of tweezers. They will be in your hand at least half the time you build this one.
16. I think we are on the same pages, Richard. As much as I want to emulate the box art, I feel the design calls for a more elegant color. Thanks for jumping in, Carl!
17. Hey Richard, I do love to try my restyling skills on models, but in this case, I'm only going to stay very true to the original Exner design. It's very cool as is! Scott
18. Thanks to Steve, Dave, Jim, Warren, Kurt, and Bruce for your input and to all those who voted so far. It really adds to the fun of this project! Voting will close Friday night. Then I'll announce the car that will be built for the article. Paul and Chris, if the Pierce Arrow does keep its top spot, I agree that it could use a bit extra to add some interest. I also had some minor mods in mind for the other candidates. Scott
19. Love that chassis and drivetrain shot! Has anyone used the word "spectacular" yet? I call it!
20. I'll count that as a vote, Steve! I used the Foki shoe that I always do. Doesn't work for this forum now. It works on other forums. Go figure. I've gat a message to the Mod. In the meantime is is a test IT WORKS. Scott
21. photo test. Just trying to get all the interior parts to fit together.
22. Sorry- Not sure why the pics are not showing up. I'll fix it. FIXED. Thanks, Steve!
23. I figured it was time to start building some of those rare/vintage kit’s I have collected over the years. I also wanted to contribute to the magazine. I reached out to Gregg and his team and presented my idea. They agreed to give it a try. HERE IS HOW IT WORKS… I post a choice of three kits here on the forum. The members of the forum can vote on which kit they would like to see built. From there I would build the kit pretty close to box art, with minimal scratch building and detailing. A build-up article would be featured in Model Cars magazine. This gives people a chance to see what that rare/vintage kit actually builds into and learn about any challenges that may pop up along the way. When picking the models to offer up, I primarily tried to pick models that have not been reissued for at least 20 years, are unusual, are considered "rare" or desirable, or might make an interesting subject. I also tried to stay away from models that have been recently featured in the WIP section of the forum. (I wanted to offer a Mean Maverick but Fantom has one in the Drag Racing WIP section right now.) The quality of the kits offered ranges from mint, to resin, to clone, to glue bomb. Please vote for one you would like to see a build-up in an article for Model Cars. LOT 1 MPC – Turbo Camaro – This is a rebuilder gasser that will use the turbine engine option. Monogram Jet Racer – This is a mint kit from the 50s! How good can wood look? Maybe we can find out. Renewal Pierce Arrow – This rebuilder needs a new life of elegance. PLEASE VOTE FOR 1. Here is a preview of LOT 2 that will be the next up for a vote: IMC Avenger/Fiber Fab kit car – Can this glue bomb be saved? Monogram Super Digger 1/12 – Push the button and watch this one run the ¼ mile! Monogram Uncertain T – Yep, that one! Thank you for your participation! Scott
24. Well done, Rodney! Great solution on the headers. You pulled off an amazing clone!
