  1. "Scratchbuilding" I should have thought of that one.
  2. Steve, You did a great job upgrading the Avenger kit to a real show piece. A treat to look at. The opening doors had to be a challenge. Looking at you 1:1 pic, I am wondering if IMC molded the rear a bit too narrow thus adding an odd angle to the rear wheel wells. I struggled with lining up the rear wheels on my build.
  3. It's called a Solo. It's electric. The school nurse drives it where I work. We checked - There is a waiting list.
  4. You never know what will drive by in Riverside CA. Lambos are not uncommon. These are:
  5. Looks like it is flying down Mulholland drive. Great work, Paul!
  6. Pat was a great story teller and a really nice guy. I had a chance to talk to him at an NNL West many years ago. He was very nice and accessible. A true car guy. He will be missed.
  7. Wow. By the time I got to this thread it has moved on to saving the planet. OK. Interesting stuff. Hope you you don't mind in I share an EV experience. We bought solar panels on a loan 5 years ago. Our Chevy bolt followed. When that lease expired, we finally got a low end Tesla. All good for us. We saved a ton of $$ on gas and electricity. When we first got the Bolt I ended up doing a stoplight to stoplight run for a few blocks agains a hot looking Charger He must of been shoked when the quiet little white car puled on him. The last run he started spinning his tires. Good times.
  8. Oh Man! That is super swoopy, Paul. The roof and laid back headlights really pull the motion into it. I'm looking forward to seeing more. Scott
  9. "More ugly Mr. Toronado?" "No thanks. Full up. Give my compliments to chef Barris."
  10. Foil duct tape. One roll lasts a lifetime.
  11. Last night I had the occasion to break out the old prototype Engine Turning Guide to make a dash panel for my current project. I found a strip of soft back polishing cloth in with the guide. I guess I made the switch to that medium as well. I had to figure out how to get the vertical spacing consistent. I used styrene spacers (seen on the left) for the second and third rows and then trimmed the flashing sheet the same depth as the spacers for the 4th and final row. The horizontal spacing is determined by the strip of tape with guide points marked on it. Anyway, in about 20 minutes I had a decent dash panel. It might have been better to go with a smaller diameter turn, but that would have added time. Scott
  12. Not quite on the road. Just got back from a trip to Colville Washington. Stopped by the Hudson Car,Truck, and sawmill museum. Here are two stand outs. I've taken an interest in unique cement trucks. This one has a clever drive for the tumbler. This Chrysler 300 is 100% original right down the the 4 speed and factory delete on the push button drive selector. The intake is one of my favorite designs.
  13. You did a great job with this amazing vehicle, Terry. There is a great youtube video on the history of this car. I remember it sat out front of the NHRA museum for quite a while before it finally got rescused and restored.
  14. Goos stuff here! I really like how the Z'd frame makes the engine sit nice and high. I'd be happy with this one!
  15. I hope you have a see through grill to show off the front mount blower. It would be a nice easter egg. Great stuff so far!
  16. Good stuff, Claude. You captured the Coddington shape very well. I like the front suspension and the hood hinge is very interesting. It looks like it can be posed in more than one position. - Oh - great way to place the hidden license plate too.
  17. I can't decide between the Jordan and the Stutz. Probably the Jordan.
  18. John stole my line. "like jewelry." Beautiful!
  19. That's pretty interesting. I'm out of bench room, but what space opens up, that could be pretty handy.
  20. Nice upgrade, Kurt. Your test looks pretty good. For me the key to a really engine turned look is keeping the pattern straight and consistent. The guide I made was pretty involved. I've been hoping someone will come with a simpler method that gets the same pattern. Can you post a pic of the X/Y table you mentioned. Scott
  21. Hey Francis, I may be late to the party, but the praise is high just the same. You did it Francis! This is such and excellent piece. SO many fantastic details that are put together with a fine touch your work rivals every modeler out there. Congratulations and well done! I hope to see this at a lot of contest tables. Scott
  22. Thanks to everyone who voted and gave their reason for their choice. It's fun to see why people want to see a particular model built. Because this was a show rod based selection, I also offered up the same choices on the show rod site. They had 2 for the Phonebooth and 1 for the Elegant Farmer. Final score was: Phone Booth - 11 Elegant Farmer - 11 Moon Mixer - 12. That was a close one. I might build the other two later on. You can catch the Avenger in MCM #215. Thanks again for your votes! Scott
  23. Wow. I just found this thread. I'm glad I did! If was very entertaining to follow you through your journey on this one. I really like the styling and of course - all the scratchbuilding! Excellent work, Kurt!
