Detail Master Racing Harnesses
Scott Colmer replied to Straightliner59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It looks like I'm a bit late, but here is a set ready to install. They are tricky to figure out, but by the looks of it you did just fine. -
I enjoyed following the progress on these. You did an excellent job with them! There is something so cool about extreme engine set back.

I think I see a bunch of lost model parts and a sock floating around in there.

Wonderful work. I'm liking that the shovel is still on it. -
Read It and Weep...

I've got a box of Hot Rod from the 70's. You would be amazed at what is for sale in the back and how cheap it is. -
Hey Daniel, I'm enjoying following this project. You are doing pretty good with the engine turned surface. I've tried this before. I did not have a drill press, so I made an arm to locate some styrene rod with sanding cloth glued to the end. It sounds like you are counting the turns. That worked for me too. Remember to overlap the circles. I used a grid to keep things lined up. H Keep going, you are doing a great job. Scott

What makes a pro modeler a pro ?
Scott Colmer replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Back in the 90s in Sacramento a friend of mine, Dave Reese built drag race models for money. He work was clean and he did it quickly. He got paid pretty good money and had a client list. He was a professional. I could never afford one of his scale models, until he sold me a couple toon model he did. Hosted on Fotki -
I think you did a great job! How did you get the brass parts done?
-
Wow. You did a great job, Pat. Super clean!

I finally got enough pieces to complete the partial kit I picked up years ago. Now I can put this one together.

I got this off eBay for a good price. It's got the Fonzie figure. I was the only bidder. It's a good companion the Sweathogs dream machine I won earlier. Don't know why these go so cheap, but I am glad they do.

Aluminum Printing Plate Source?
Scott Colmer replied to bigfatforty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This may seem obvious, go to a small print shop for the thinner plates. Large printer for thicker plate. (I used to be a printer.) -
Gregg's Status
Scott Colmer replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wishing you well, and a speedy recovery, Gregg. Scott -
As an adult, I started putting back together my collection as a kid. I loved showrods and drag cars. I replaced all the TD and Barris kits. I also replaced a lot of the really wild showrooms. Here is my room way back then. There was a high shelf that lined the top perimeter. It was filled with models end to end. I replaced almost all of the part in this picture except for the Datsun truck which I still have but has been undergoing a rebuild. (Stalled for 20 years.) Hosted on Fotki This is some of what I have re-accumulated. I build a lot less now and a lot slower. Many of what you see in the case are build-ups bought on line. The Horn Toad is my only true survivor. Hosted on Fotki Here are a couple I have rebuilt as an adult:

I'm OK with my phone tracking where I go. I also get it when I order something on line (usually Amazon) and then the adds start popping up on our computers and phones. What is really weird is when we TALK about something (not asking echo to put it on the shopping list) and THAT starts popping up. It may be a coincidence, but it has happened more than once. Smart TV? Echo? Kinda creepy.

WW III, the war on plastic.
Scott Colmer replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We just got back from a visit to the Bishop Museum in Hawaii. The small bits of plastic floating around the ocean are SINGLE USE items likes straws and water bottle. They do break up and they get ingested by sea creatures who see them as food. Some, birds will send them out with with their regurgitated pellets. Baby birds it sometimes kills. I found a pellet on the beach with lots of plastic in it. I also found lots of litter on the same beach and on some secluded hiking trails. I packed out what I could carry. Did I drop it there? Can I change the world, No, but I can do my part. The trash was created one person at a time, It can - eventually - be clean up that way too. My 2 cents. Scott
