I won a kit on eBay for $13/Shipping ridiculous?
Dave Van replied to jchrisf's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You do realize that ebay takes a percentage of the shipping costs...right??? Let's say you sell a kit on ebay for $20 with shipping to buyer costing you $10. (keeping things simple) The total is $30 which is what ebay uses to calculate their fees. So in the end YOU lose money on shipping!!!! Because I don't sell on ebay any longer, if I do sell between ebay and Paypal they take 10%.......so I lose a dollar on shipping alone!!!! I sell outside ebay all the rime so I have a very good idea of shipping cost alone. I got a box of 5 kits I bought online and USPS charged my seller $26 to ship 300 miles.....which I had to pay.....more than $5 a kit......yes USPS is out of control. -

Shipping is horrible today. A normal kit costs me about $13 to ship west coast....one of many reasons I no longer sell on ebay. -
I think I'll watch 'Mischief' tonight.....RIP

Agreed!!!! Besides being kinda fun.....history comes out and information spread. I see no harm. And as I like off the wall models too.....I may be happy when we do find out!! ALSO....why do you think Atlantis made this public......any attention is better than none!!! so we will talk!!! -

The power of lost love!!!! For me it's going into a hobby shop and seeing all those odd JoHan kits and wishing I'd bought a lot more of them!!! I do agree that most of us will not like what these tools are for......just a bet..... -

That was the wording correct......but I understand all the assets RM USA had stateside, that they did not want to transfer to Revell GmbH ( this included Aurora, Renwal etc), was already done. I just did not list each in my post. -

I know that....but the tool shop that has all this tooling did open it up and run tests. I got some of those as I was doing some work for them. But the project never made it past that step. -

Those were taken at RCHTA in Chicago. These are not mine as I was using a film SLR at the time and mine were to dark....so I use these. These tools were ready to run back then...they didn't happen for reasons we don't need to go into. Side not is those tools look a little small for a 1/25 body mold....we'll see. -

I;d be happy if Atlantis picked up the stuff Moebius was looking at. When I got test shots and they talked about new interiors I was thrilled. Then...dropped. All the JoHan stuff that was in storage needed work.....from cleaning and tuning to half the kit missing. But some of the stuff would be GREAT to have back and COULD serve Atlantis well.....just have to see....Atlantis plays it very close!! -

They looked at some...even made an announcement but in the end passed on the tooling. I got a test shot...but it never got further. -

Organizing Evergreen strip stock. Super easy
Dave Van replied to LDO's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I have a plastic file cabinet with different stock in each drawer......sheet stock in one, round stock in another. Strip stock and textured sheets each in own. I build a lot of O scale buildings so why textured has it's own. I have a LOT of plastic as a hobby shop is 3 hour drive. Late night work I have what I need 99.9% of the time!! -
Maybe they meant one engine for the car....one for the cycle?????
