Good show mating the body and chassis. It often takes the skill to get the luck. I look forward to seeing it in the Under Glass section. David G. -
Nice conversion to four door. Flame work looks great! David G.

Paint, finish, assembly, details, everything about it looks perfect! Even your photos are excellent. The match-up between the photos of the 1:1 and the finished model is spot-on. at first, I had a hard time seeing a difference between the two photos. David G.

I like the "Before and After" concept, you've represented it quite well here. I remember seeing your WIP on the purple one, it came out great! I love the undercarriage detail you've added. The "Before" truck is well done too. The damage, rust and weathering are all very convincing. David G. -

Hello Everybody! I've made more progress on the Corvette restoration. Here we are fresh out of the SuperClean tank. Once it's all cleaned up and dried off, the spots where the paint attacked the plastic can easily be seen. The mild abrasions come from the Barkeeper's Friend cleanser that I used to remove the paint and pigment that the stripping couldn't. The next step is to spray some primer and start sanding. That's it for this update, I hope to have more to post soon. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G. -

Beautiful work on the interior! I use Zapp Canopy Glue for my clear and chromies... only because it's what my LHC carries. David G. -
Ah, it looks much better now. That speedboat green had a bit of a 70's vibe to it. This shade looks a bit more contemporary. David G.

1981 "Fast 111's" Corvette 1:32 Scale by MPC: WIP
David G. replied to David G.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hello Everybody! The past couple of weeks have been keeping me rather busy with household issues. At the end of January, our dishwasher sprang a leak and caused damage to the kitchen floor, the cabinets and the dining room carpet. Even having to deal with a couple of contractors and the insurance company, I've still managed to get some bench time in. Actually, I think I needed it to help preserve my sanity. So here's the update: After several rounds of filling, filing and sanding, I have the lower end of the engine looking a bit more like it's supposed to look. It's now ready for paint and detail. I wanted a dark base to add some richness to the color to the color I plan on using. So after washing and prepping the body, I sprayed it with some black Rustoleum sandable primer. This was the result. ? I'm not sure what caused the crazing so I'm blaming it on an interaction between the paint... the Rustoleum paint and the plastic. I've had trouble with Rustoleum in the past but I've also had it work well often enough that still I occasionally use it. And it still occasionally gives me problems. I've also heard of builders sometimes having trouble with orange plastic. ? Oh, well. In the tank it goes. That's all for this round. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post your thoughts, opinions and comments. Thanks, David G. -
Excellent work so far and a nice tribute to a builder who may no longer be with us. One quick suggestion for the paint issue on the trunk, if you haven't already addressed it. It looks to me that the light spot is in the gap between the trunk lid and body, why not just use some panel line darkener and throw some shadow into there? David G.
