  1. Beautiful work on this so far, love all the added touches. David G.
  2. Great work so far Gareth, spectacular interior detailing. I'm curious, when I built my Monaco there were terrible gaps between the body and inner fenders in the engine bay. Have those been addressed? David G.
  3. Nice work so far. Good call on the color change, I think the maroon will look much better. David G.
  4. Nice work so far! Love those old Mopars. David G.
  5. Most Impressive! ? A great rendition of an iconic film moment. David G
  6. That is sweet! Looks great from every angle. David G.
  7. Thank you for your kind comment Anders. Yes, it is one of Revell's reissues of the Samba kit but I don't recall exactly which one. It had no interior door panels nor a pedal cluster but it has poseable front wheels. There was no provision nor information in the directions for opening the barn doors but they were obviously cast to be cut open. It seemed to be a kind of slapdash reissue of a good quality kit. Nothing wrong with it, just more basic than originally intended. David G.
  8. Thank you Bob. I'm often concerned about decals too but these were easy to work with. The were sturdy yet flexible enough to conform with a little coaxing and Microset. The big number circles on the right door did develop a small split but it's barely noticeable. Thank you Benton, I appreciate your comment. Thanks Chris. David G.
  9. That's really cool! ? What a great way to literally "showcase" your most recent builds. David G.
  10. Beautiful tribute, nicely done! David G.
  11. You have so much coolness going on and it all works so well together that it's hard to single out any one thing to comment on. Great work! David G.
  12. That came out quite well. I built this one back in the Nineties and I recall having to file away some of the firewall to get it to clear the bellhousing on the transmission. Other than that, it's a great kit with lots of good detail. David G.
  13. Beautiful paint job! Everything else looks great too. David G.
  14. Good progress on these! I like the rag top. Is that provided by the kit? I went back and looked for it in your initial parts shots but didn't see it there. David G.
  15. Just a quick follow-up. I sprayed a couple more coats of TS-13 noticing that the finish smoothed out a little more after each coat. After curing, I used Micromesh polishing and finishing pads to smooth and polish. Everything worked as well as I hoped it would. Thanks again to everyone who offered advice and information... and encouragement, which is often the most important part. David G.
  16. Thank you Jim. When I built mine, I made a couple copies of the mask that's included in the directions. After I cut it out, I covered the back side with double stick tape and trimmed it down. Not an ideal masking setup but it worked well enough. Thanks Keith. Thank you Terry. Dang! I missed that one. Yeah, we do tend to overthink things don't we? I do enjoy working through projects that I find intimidating. I enjoy the challenge and I like the sense of accomplishment. Thanks for your comment Josh. Thanks Gerald. Thank you Chaz, I appreciate that. Thank you Ray. Thanks Larry. Thanks for your Carl, I appreciate that. Regards, David G.
  17. Thank you Trevor, I'm glad you like it. David G.
  18. Excellent interior detailing, beautiful fit and finish, everything looks great! David G.
  19. Looks really good. Seeing it like it is in the last photo makes me wonder if Ford used a modified station wagon chassis as a platform. David G.
  20. This one is now completed. Here is a link to thread in the Under Glass section. A sincere thanks to all who provided advice, information and support during the build process. David G.
  21. This is the polar lights 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition snap kit. Like any other Polar Lights snap-together kit I've built, the overall quality is on par with any of the kits out there that require glue for assembly. It's well detailed and to my eye, the proportions seem correct. Polar Lights is also generous with the decals they include. In addition to providing accent graphics with enough variation to allow it to be build in just about any color, the thoughtfully provide some redundancy to allow for mess-ups. I decided to challenge myself by building this kit in the "molded-in" color. I did of course, have to paint the orange stripe as well as paint and detail the interior. But the rest of the body is built as molded by Polar Lights and polished. Even though it is a snap-together kit, I did use glue at various points in the building process. A prime example would be the wheels. Not only did I glue them to prevent rolling, the brake calipers are molded into the wheels causing them to roll along merrily with the wheels as they turn. ? Odd to say the least. The nose and hood stripe was for me, the most intimidating part of the build. Though not perfect, I am content with the results. The black line decals do much to clean up the paint edges. This model is also the first supercar I've built. The GT 40 was always one of my favorite race cars, especially in Gulf livery. The 2006 Heritage Edition GT captures that feel very nicely. Why number five? Well the box shows number six and so do most of the online photos I found. So I didn't want to use number six. I didn't want to use number one because I wanted to avoid all the comments like "Ooooh number one! Because its number one, right?". I passed on number seven for similar reasons, "Ooooh, lucky seven!". Number nine is visually just an upside down six and three... well, three just... meh. But five! Who builds five? Speed Racer, that's who! So yeah, I might have subconsciously had the Mach Five in mind when I picked the number, but I'm good with that. I used the California license plate decals because... California. For those who may be interested, I do have a WIP thread, here's a link. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to leave a comment. David G.
  22. Excellent build! Color, stance fit and finish, everything looks great. David G.
  23. Nailed it! Everything looks spot-on, right down to the spray on bed liner and the light weathering of the chassis and engine bay. David G.
  24. That's quite a rake there. ? It definitely reminds me of back in the Seventies when air shocks were king. It should look cool once you have the suspension dialed in. David G.
