The Bat-Pod from "The Dark Knight" movie by Moebius Models. It's a rather simple kit, not much more work than building a fairly detailed engine for a scale automobile. Painting and building these three sub-assemblies took me about six hours. This should be a rather quick build. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to leave a comment. Cool little bits of history, nicely done. Now that's what I call optimism: "It's gonna rain... It's gonna rain... and when it does... I'll be ready!" David G. -
Very cool! I like the prototypical construction style. David G.

This is my version of the Moebius Models Tumbler from the movie Batman Begins. I bought this kit about seven years ago and I just now got around to building it. Due to the nature of the vehicle the kit has some unusual assembly engineering. The interior is rather well detailed but unless you plan to modify the model to allow for an opening canopy or light the interior in some way, most of the interior won't be visible after the model is completed. Had I known this, I would not have put as much effort into detailing the interior as I did. For those who may be interested, here is a link to the Build Thread. The air boxes just ahead of the rear wheels had a yucky looking mesh casting which I cut out and replaced with some old speaker cloth. Lighting this vehicle for photos was a little bit of a challenge. Being a "creature of the night", shooting it in daylight conditions just didn't seem to work. So I tried a darker backdrop and lighting that was a bit less direct. I wanted details to be visible while having contrasting shadows. I wanted lighting that was more dramatic than usual. I think I managed to pull it off well enough. Thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to leave a comment. David G.

Beautiful Work! It could easily be mistaken for the real thing. David G. -

The Tumbler is completed now and I'm working on the final photos but before I wrap up this thread there is one more building detail I'd like to share. When placing the left and right inner airfoil brackets, I was unable to find a way to put them in their proper locations without removing the left and right Upper Body Panels, parts 8 and 9 in the directions. Luckily, I had glued them in place with PVA so their removal was not too difficult. You can see how the right angle on the forward foot of the bracket tucks under the upper body panel. I was unable to work this bit under the panel without removing it. That certainly may be a result of my assembly work or an element of the engineering of the kit. Either way, if I had used CA to glue the upper body panels in place, I would have had to trim the angle on the bracket's foot in order to get it into the proper location. Thanks again to everyone who offered comments and advice. I do appreciate your support. David G.

Thank you for your comment Rusty. The construction design for the Tumbler is definitely outside-the-box and there was indeed a bit of a learning curve there. It's finished and I should be done working with the photos soon. I don't have a lighting kit for the for the DOJ Batmobile but I am shopping for one. I have yet to make a decision on how involved I want to get with it. I haven't built a lighted model and I would certainly like to some day. The DOJ Batmobile looks like it could be a good kit to start with. Though I certainly wouldn't mind having a 1/18 Catwoman (or a full size one for that matter), I have already started the 1/25 Batpod. There won't be a WIP thread for it as it's not any more involved than building an engine for a 1/25 automotive model. I'll just post the pics when it's done. Thanks again, David G.

It looks like you're going down the rabbit hole on this one and the hole just got deeper! I'll be along for the ride on this one. David G. -
It's a bummer about the A-pillars breaking, a frustrating but not insurmountable set-back. You have so many other fine details going on with this one that it would almost be an insult to the build not to open the doors. I wish you the best of luck with the repair work. David G.

Beautiful Work! I've done a few "Nostalgia Builds" myself. It sure is a great feeling to go back and complete and/or conquer those fondly remembered kits of our younger days, isn't it? David G.

Thank you Patrick, I'm glad you like it. Thanks Rusty, I appreciate your comment. If you're referring to this Batmobile... I already have one in my stash... with a Green Strawberry PE kit. But before I get on to that one, I have a Batpod I want to knock together first. Sort of a companion to the Tumbler. Also, there is an available lighting kit for the DOJ Batmobile. Hhmmm... Thanks, David G.
