  1. Thanks! Actually, I used Molotow chrome with Tamiya clear on top - but same idea. The Molotow is easier to get into the small spots than foil too.
  2. Masking for the fender flares - if they are flares. They shouldn’t be on a regular Rabbit, I don’t think, but I didn’t take care of that earlier, so... I made a personal discovery - Tamiya masking tape for curves. It’s magic. Really.
  3. Very nice work, Jonathon. Cool car. Great paint.
  4. Wow. Really great looking model - from a mediocre kit! I don’t like these Mustangs either but have been tempted to build just because they are kind of, well, yuck. You’ve done an excellent job on yours.
  5. Beautiful model. Fantastic work.
  6. All the “glass” has the trim molded in - so a little time masking for paint...pretty easily done thanks to a sharp edge along the trim. Painted and ready for installation:
  7. Ahhhh. Haven’t seen that since I was probably 10 years old. I’ll have to... I like the car and scene.
  8. What movie is that? Looks like Idaho or Nevada.
  9. Oh, mainly the paint job. I think you could build a pretty cool car based on that. I hope they tool up a set of deep steel wheels for the rear - I think the original kit ones are kind of shallow - combination with the cheater slicks is cool. Art work is a six lug...hehe (or 5 lugs unevenly spaced).
  10. Yup, fantastic work. I don’t know how you stuck to it over so many years! Awesome model.
  11. Paint is on and polished. Tamiya TS-58 Pearl Light Blue with Deft Lacquer clear. Dash...
  12. They do look pretty close, Mike. They come with four wheels. There are four “base” wheels, four deep rings, four shallow rings, extra lug nuts, center caps, little plastic plug things and a couple clipboards.
  13. Chris - I enjoy your reviews as well. Please don’t let the ignorant deter you from posting. People that refuse to progress past 8th grade intelligence and maturity don’t deserve the victory.
  14. I wish I had the patience and ability to drill those... They are steel wheels from Asuka 1999. They are pretty cool as you can select two depths. They only come in four lug though.
  15. This model is from the days of "Well, good enough!"...remember this is a reissue of a 40+ year old kit. The engine and associated engine area are definitely weak spots in a lot of old kits - and the Gremlin suffers from lack of/incorrect detail. However, from the outside (did they fix the too wide front piece on this issue?) - it looks good - a 10 footer - get too close and notice the size 1 seats, metal axles, and other deficiencies.
  16. ...and on the inside... Clearly Scale seats (ordered them from Model Builders Warehouse - so no wait) ”Fabric” is what I call “Old German Guy Sweater” - custom made... I should have dulled ‘em one more time - but they look shinier in this photo than to my naked eye.
  17. “Chassis” close to complete. It goes together very nice. Good work ROG. Underhood...with coil and booster and body colored tray thing attached. You can see the distributor from the resin kit comes off the end of the valve cover and hits the stock Rabbit reservoir. The replacement was from AMT Explorer - it actually looks better and fits better; therefore, it is better.
  18. Nothing really close. Checked MPC Chevette, AMT Probe and Beretta, Monogram Turbo T-Bird, AMT Horizon, MPC version of the Horizon thing...even a few 6s to see if they could be modified, but still, nada.
  19. There are many companies that file chapter 11. Kmart, Sears, Hostess - not unusual at all. While there are large discrepancies in pay from truck drivers to CEOs, I don’t think it’s ever the soul cause of a companie’s failure - and I really doubt it with Hobbico.
  20. What’s it from, Ben? Thermostat/water intake on the manifold? oh edit - for the 22R? I’ve got a handful of 4 cylinder kits I can check through...
  21. For real?
  22. Maybe Meng will buy them. Or another Chinese company...molds are already there, right? From other news stories: “In order to support the financial requirements of several acquisitions over the years, the Debtors incurred and began carrying a heavy debt load. Beginning in 2016, the Debtors’ businesses began to struggle due to a number of factors which included…a lack of investment in product innovation and its core platform coupled with a systemic shift in the drone market. In the second half of 2016, these challenges became more acute with the disruption of the Debtors’ supply chain in Asia due to the financial distress of multiple key suppliers. These factors all combined to negatively impact the Debtor’s sales and profitability and, in conjunction with elevated debt service obligations, resulted in defaults under these debt obligations and a sharp decrease in liquidity and financial flexibility.”
  23. Nice work. Great looking model. For some reason these are popular yard ornaments in this part of the country.
