  1. Cool! You should post some of your armor in the "All The Rest" category of the forums here; I'd like to see what you've done, just based on your clean building style. +1 on those high impact colors. What a time in automotive history!
  2. Sweet custom work! I love the head-on view especially.
  3. Watching this with interest; the '57 Chevy is a hard body to customize well!
  4. This is turning out VERY nice!
  5. Beautiful craftsmanship; a piece of sculpture!
  6. We learn from each other, brother. Remember; there are no dumb questions, just a few dumb people.
  7. Just checked out your write-up; very well done. I, too, have always been a little enamored of these fighters with turrets. They just look SO formidable, don't they? As for Airfix, the only ones available to me as a child were the ones licensed to MPC to produce in the USA. As an adult, I have "discovered" both old and new gems from Airfix, and have a generally very positive view of all I've encountered. I was very impressed with the level of detail, for example, on the old 1/72 B-26 Marauder; so much so I bought two off ebay right away. I recently picked up a new tool 1/72 Folland Gnat, and like it very much. Now I want one in 1/48, but at the moment it is commanding high prices! Looking forward to your next build!
  8. I can hear your friends now..." he really was a nice guy, then he went nuts building a model ship with more details than the original ship!" Ho-lee smoke! The only thing missing is the rats.
  9. Really attractive paint work! Nice models.
  10. Out of curiosity, what kit are you using? ( I can't see any photos in your first post, though all others show fine) I dig a good Chevelle built any way that's crafted right!
  11. I promise not to threadjack again, but I want our fellow modelers to understand!
  12. Alan, what you are seeing in the photos is just the highlight at the top of a convex form, not a separate shape ( i.e; the outward "bulge" of the fenders) The cats at AMT (or MPC, whoever first tooled this) saw those outlines (Very much mistakenly) as another convex (Inward cut) area. If you get a chance to hold the AMT body up to the real car, or even the Revell snapper, you'll see exactly what we're going on about with regards to the body's "over-sculpting"; there is a trench created that just should not be there. Revell got it right, even the old Monogram 1/24 got that right. Daniel; so glad to see you back on this; you really are going above and beyond here, and are creating a very accurate model. Well done, sir!
  13. Ditto. Good luck with the move! You get settled, you'll be back in no time. We ain't going anywhere...
  14. " I like that it's red, but not "in your face look at me" red." Agreed! Very classy.
  15. Gotta love a red Chevelle! May I ask what shade of red that is? I've had one of these on the bench for soooo long; still fight it when I have a few spare moments...
  16. File a bevel on the end of an old mechanical pencil or technical pen to male nice circles!
  17. Glad to see you back on this; love watching the ideas unfold...
  18. Snazzy office!
  19. Thanks for the info fellers!
  20. "... I wish I could remember where I got the clear red lights on yellow and black car - they were a custom option in an early '60s AMT kit." Might we see a pic?
  21. Dzus.
  22. Groovy color! What's the interior gonna be? White? Parchment? Buckskin? Black?
  23. VERY cool windshiel/glass tips. Have you painted or tinted any of this pvc sheet? Just wondering how well it accepts paint. Has anyone vacu-formed any of this material?
  24. Steve, you are pretty close; I'm going to do my ham-fisted best to convert them to '59 Imperial LeBaron caps!
