What ELSE did you build? Non auto related.
espo replied to Scott Colmer's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
That's a great looking project. This is what our forefathers did just to clear the rocks out of the fields so they could plant crops. -
Do you have a Cabela's near you ? They usually have a display area setup with several different designs assembled so you can inspect them. We got a two room tent a couple of years ago. The storage case is about the size of a large piece of luggage and it will stand up and has wheels to make it easier to move around. As for the poles, I think just about anything of any size will have to have poles to hold it up or you're going to have to string a support from trees and that's not good. I suggest looking on line to see what different companies have to offer.

I didn't know of a kit issued with the right hand drive or if you made the change yourself, or if the negative got flipped but no one uses a film camera anymore.
-
Very clean realistic looking build.

Great looking convertible. I like the little details on the interior, correct heater color and the plastic trimmed dash since chrome was still in short supply after the War.
-
Beautiful looking build and the lighting is very well done.
-
Nice looking color combination. Right hand drive is also interesting .
-
Great paint work and the trim is very cleanly done also. I like the way those wheels look on this.
-
Wow, what a difference. When this was originally built it was common to use every part on the box. I think the '59 Ford had some additional trim on the front fenders and door, but this looks cleaner to me and makes the car look even longer without the extra clutter. Very remarkable rebuild.

Beautiful looking paint work. The body is really smooth after removing all of the trim.

Please don't think I'm making fun of the wheels, I understand it is part of the overall style that is new to myself. Yesterday I was looking around on You Tube and came across on of their Driver Fail Videos. As I'm sure you have noticed many drivers sort of weave around in their lane and over into surrounding lanes even. The clip showed a little Import of some sort with these wheels on it. Amazing how the surrounding drivers suddenly started to pay attention to staying in the center of their lane. Now I'm thinking this may be a good safety option to consider. Again keep up with your beautiful looking build.

Many good solutions for story the spray cans. I would add that the bottled paint also need some extra precautions for long time storage. The main thing is to story them as air tight as possible I suggest opening every bottle, one at a time, and clean the caps threads and the same for the container. Be sure that the seal between the top of the container and the cap are clear of any paint residue that would compromise their air tight seal. With that I would store them much like the spray cans but in an upright position. When the time comes to put them back into service the pigment will have settled to the bottom just like the spray cans, but if you stir the pigment before shaking the container everything should be fine.

1972ish Chevy LUV
espo replied to Jonathan's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very nice looking Luv. Chevrolet thought of it as a Light Utility Vehicle and thus the name. I worked in a Chevrolet dealership during the era you mentioned and this was a pretty common day 2 type set up at that time. There even a few that put in Chevy small blocks after a short time. The side color panels are much like the Machado trim option from Chevrolet. The Camper Shell was a very popular style also. Your fender flares and the American style Victor wheels were common. Great looking paint work and I'll bet the interior is just as nice. -
Is there something wrong with me? I love this

You're now going to have to create an addiction service for everyone now. -
The only thing that would really be needed to be changed to go with an automatic setup would be the transmission. The kits engine can represent any 396/427/454 engine desired since externally they're all the same save a carburetor setup.

This is now popping up every time I go on YouTube. I watched the Trucks race and then the finals in the Rally Cars and that jump on the end is beyond funny to watch. -
Thanks for the suspension info. That is the same way I'm doing mine, it just looks much lower is why I asked. With the lowering blocks in the back I had to remove the bumper stops on the frame to get the differential to clear. I also cut a little of the front coil springs and bent the lower control arms up a bit. This is a learning curve for me since this isn't the normal style of build for myself. I'm wanting to try something different and I'm basing mine on a car I saw in "Car Kulture De Luxe" magazine. They featured a '48 Convertible in their latest issue. Not to rattle on about my build. Again I really like how yours turned out and I'm going to try that paint treatment on a future build.

Revell 1/24th scale Jaguar E-Type FHC: Test Shots
espo replied to Justin Porter's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Doesn't mater, I'm getting one maybe two if I like the first one. -
Beautiful looking finish and I like the lace roof treatment. You mentioned that you went with the lowered suspension. I ask since I have this same model on my work bench now. I followed the kits instructions and a little more for the front for their lowered suspension and it seems to sit a little lower. The upper body chrome trim looks like the kits provided trim. Did you consider the rest of the trim or didn't care for it ? I'm very sorry to hear of your Lanas passing. They can really leave a big hole in your heart when they are gone.

In time this may get reissued but done in a different style. We could always start a rumor but there are enough of those going around anyway.

A few new Round 2 kit coming out ......
espo replied to Mr mopar's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Thanx, I was thinking that might be the case. -
Some of the Chevrolet / GMC pickup kits had camper shells in them. Maybe someone could cast one of those. The shell on the CHP truck looks like it may be metal rather than fiberglass like most shells. I have seen some guys build their own shells using plastic strips and blocks glued together and then sanded to the desired shape.

I like that, especially the paint treatment. Since this could be built as a stock truck also, how did they handle the side window going from the camper shell down into the side of the bed ?
