Great looking build. I like the paint detailing under the hood for the wiring. Very cleanly built all the way thru.

First off, Happy Birthday CabDriver.. As you can see from every ones replies there are many different yet similar feelings about your "Craftsmanship" thought. I was once having problems in my mind about different levels of detailing of chassis and engines not to mention much better paint jobs. I was told by a far wiser builder to just treat each step as if it was a model of it's own. I started doing this and I feel that the appearance of my builds has improved. I'm still working on the Body painting but I'm seeing some improvement there as well. What I have done and I am doing right now is build a subject that is out of my norm. Build something that represents a subject you have never done before. Another thing this wise man told me was to build it for myself and not worry about the contest or show table display.

Went to the local market to get some odds and ends plus a couple of nice Filet steaks for our Friday Night dinner. Fridays have always been an evening that we sort of have an at home dinner date. After putting everything away after shopping I notice that the steaks I bought weren't in the bags I brought home. I drive the 5 miles back to the market and the two young girls that were the checker and bagger now know nothing about me or the steaks and their supervisor suggest I go to the Customer Service Desk. They finally told me to go and get two more steaks and called it even. Finally someone at the Customer Service Desk mentioned that they were training some new employees and the felt that is what happened. The bagger never put the steaks in my bag and probably gave them to the next person in line. Someone got a couple of nice Filets for nothing.

I look forward to seeing your thoughts on this kit. I have built a couple and have enjoyed them. You mentioned the intent of your build and going to the lower level 300 trim. Exterior wise there are few differences. The most obvious besides the Hood would be on the Tail Gate trim. the 300 being flat without the kits provided chrome trim. Just fill the area in the Tail Gate for the trim. I don't know if you have access to the Revell '66 El Camino kit, but that would provide you with a more accurate flat Hood without the simulated Hood scoop.

While I know little about this style of car 1:1 or 1/25th. But I do recognize a good clean build when I see one. I like the finishes and clean details on this. The images on the trunk and hood are interesting and would like to learn how this was done.

Great tutorial on the painting process that you use. Where do you get your masks ? Is this your own design or is their a guide someone could buy to create a mask ?

I've been watching your VW but you never mentioned the Ford before. I would be interested in what type of masking methods you used.

I think there were a few reasons not the least of wish was to promote the Camaro and the Z-28 package that came about just so that they could meet the engine requirements. The Nova was promoted as more of an inexpensive transportation vehicle. As a past owner you realize just how good of a car it was and the insurance companies had their heads in the sand at the time as to their potential. This was one of the motivational reasons for my purchase since insurance payments and car payments were becoming equal for myself. The possibilities of what could have been is one of the reasons I look forward to following Howards build here.

I have never seen one of these in 1:1 that even look close to this good. I watched as you tackled getting the front end together and modifying the engine and interior. Great looking paint finish and all the trim is cleanly done.

This looks interesting. I had a '72 Nova SS and always liked that car. Many still don't realize the 1:1 is pretty much a Camaro under the skin. Great looking Flares, what sort of rear spoiler do they offer ?

I like the conservative color combination. Your paint detailing on the undercarriage and interior look very realistic. Very cleanly finished thru out.

Very cleanly detailed. The small differences in color and finish on the small parts of an engine, suspension, and chassis make a big difference in the overall appearance.

Great looking El Camino. I like how you used some very slim chrome trim to break the two tone paint.

They're spray cans anyway.

I have used Tamiya's AS-7 Neutral Gray (USAAF). The nice thing about the Tamiya line id they also offer a Military paint line. The colors are based on the different shades and colors used by many different branches of the Military. I have also used some of them for interiors of passenger cars.

I would like to see that one also. By coincidence a class mate of mine in high school had a '57 Ford wagon with that same trim level. His was a 6 cylinder and automatic transmission car in a beige tan color that he got from his parents when they bought a new car.

I remember building this AMT Mustang when it was offered with the Ford Ramp truck kit. That issue was a Drag Race what if kit. As I recall the Mustang kit it's self was pretty well done for the time. I would build one as a Boss 351 that Ford offered that year.

This looks like it was buried in a swamp. The Mud is about as realistic as I have seen.

Great looking conversion. You would never know from looking at your finished model what all you had done on the body unless you pointed it out to someone.
