Excellent job on recreating the body damage on this one.

That'll buff right out...

I remember reading about that. I doubt I'm the only one seeing a new trend in building distressed models of cars and truck that have gone into the drink. -
This is a great kit by any measure and this edition especially with all the extra tires. Great looking engine so far.

Good idea, except if you live in this area. The MHP and KHP just put out the numbers for accidents and fatalities comparing this year to last. The numbers are actually increasing in our area ?? The KCPD said in the last week they have cited four people at over 100 MPH and many more in the 80 MPH range. Seams that with the reduced number of cars on the road there is a number of the population that are getting ready for qualifying for the next NASCAR race at KC.

Like so many artist, either you like it or you don't. Can depend on the music you grew up with or your social group would listen to. Being a certain age can help in this case also. I rest my case. -

Beautiful looking finish. I'm glad you included some of the assembly pictures, they show the attention to all of the little details.. -
Looks like a mind meld between the two. While it still looks like a '57 Bel Air, there is very little of the Bel Air left. You have made the two bodies flow together nicely. Beautiful looking combination.
-
I keep going back over your pictures looking at how you made everything flow together. The colors you used on the interior and wheels give just the right contrast with the Black body color. The stance is great the way the tires tuck up under the body. These 1:1 cars are one of my personal favorites having had a few many years ago, none anything nearly what you have here.

Great looking build. I like how you utilized so any parts from different kits. Looks like you even used the exhaust and interior from the T-Bird kit.
-
Great looking Convertible, The color does come out looking a little beige but I remember seeing on with this same maroon interior color back when and it looked good also.
-
I have not built one of those, but it looks like a very good kit. I like the color you've chosen, have you considered trying a Gold Metallic base coat ? I have only done this with a Candy Red but the Gold base coat gave a dark richer tone to the finish coats. Either way this should look great. Stay Safe.

I would advice something a little heavier than foil, maybe even a couple of layers of masking tape. Scraper is a good suggestion, You might try and find some very small sanding sticks. These would be easier to control in tit spaces close to the outline moldings. Take your time and don't try to rush it, that's when you'll slip and hate yourself for it.

Makes you wonder how many were reported stolen buy their owners way back when. Good way to get ride of a car and collect the insurance money. Car thief's would part out a car before getting rid of it unless these were just "Joy Rides". -
What did you see on the road today?
espo replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Starliner's were a very special looking Ford at that time. Look at this car and imagen the narrow band above the side windows painted a high metallic Gold and the interior in the factory Black & Yellow. I remember see just that in a neighbors driveway on my way to school. Before that he drove a Black '57 Ford convertible with a Black Top and the Black and White Interior. I'd say he liked Fords and he had a good taste in color selections also. -
Ever buy kits...just to "Pirate" parts?
espo replied to Southern Fried's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think as you can see, this is a very common thing to do. Any time I see a close out price at HL I buy the kit even if I'll never have an interest in building it. There are always parts that can be used on other builds and this is the lest expensive way to get those parts in most cases. -
25 Window VW/Porsche Microbus

Besides being an amazing build, the short time in which it has come together. Your Wheels have always been what I have associated with anything in the VW/Porsche line. -
Ya I know what you mean.

1/25 AMT Y-193 '69 Camaro Kit History & Evolution
espo replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
If you stay with the SS Grill and other markings the Cowl hood would have been an option. Just in case you never noticed, Chevrolet and other after market suppliers have sold more Cowl Hoods than were ever supplied in '69. I put one on my base 1:1 Camaro as did most of the people I knew that had Camaros from '67 thru '69. -
You went all the way on this making it a Business Coupe with the short roof. Great looking paint finish.
-
This really looks nice. I like your color scheme with the lite colored wood.. That's the stance I always strive for also. I have seen that resin body at the local Hobby Shop, think I'll has to see about getting this one and the panel.

Sounds like you will have enough to do during the quarantine. Summit Racing is another I was going to mention but I didn't realize how far you were going beyond the struts. I have gotten parts from them through the years for different cars. The last thing I wanted to order from them was a K&N setup for our new '19 Charger but was able to get it direct from them for the same money so I went that way. What model Jeep do you have ? Should you need any parts info there we have used several different sources for JK. Good luck.

Now that's funny.

Glad you're feeling better. You mentioned getting some parts for your 200. I have bought some items from a local Advance Auto Parts and Auto Zone. If you haven't already I suggest going into their web sites. Do a little window shopping and be sure to put in your cars description and join any of their free only programs. Daily I get E Mails with special offers on parts and spend so much they give you so much off. They both offer a range of products and brands and the prices are pretty reasonable. I have found them better than Amazon and Rock Auto for the most part.
