  1. While you may have shot yourself in the foot to have the finishes you were desiring, that doesn't mean it can't be done. My thought is that you will have to brush paint all of the surfaces to get your desired color finishes. I think trying to tape off the parts you're spray painting from one another would be a nightmare and overspray would be unavoidable. I would suggest trying to brush paint the floor boards in you chosen color. For masking the floor boards, since droplets from the chassis painting is a given, I have used small stick-m note pads. You might want to avoid using any part of the note pad that has adhesive on it since it could compromise the floor board finish. These small pieces of paper are just ridged enough to stay in place unless you're turning the assembly around a lot. These can slide in-between the frame and floor and leave in place until all is dry. There still may be some touch up but it will still be better than trying to completely removing the frame which you point out is on the weak side already. Hope this will help.
  2. Because of the way the state governments figure the funding model for public schools might be a good place to start looking. The school districts can close for only so many days and be funded for that time they are closed. Often called "snow days" and other names that they will get paid if the students "make up the time" with additional hours in the school day. One of the local school districts has adding just a few minuets to the school day to make up the time.
  3. I like to give these young cashiers a bill larger than the amount due and then give them some change for the amount that is under a dollar just to watch their heads explode. They'll inter in the cash register the amount I've given them and not being sure what's happening when the register tells them how much change they're to give back to me. They look at the register, then the cash drawer, then the register and start giving me my change. You can tell they really aren't sure what's going on. I smile and put the change in my pocket to leave and the person at the register is now looking at me like I have pulled a fast one on them. I am not mean but sometimes with one of these "Here you Go, have a nice day" cashiers instead of the phrase "Thank You" that is almost never heard these days I just can't help myself.
  4. Beautiful looking cars with so many different verities. This is the type of Car Show I like the best. The first picture of the truck with what looks like a flat bed is real interesting looking.
  5. Great looking finish on these two. I like the Ramp Truck concept and all of the details you added. The more you look at the bed especially the more you see. The '29 Pick-up has a great finish and I like the open door and the Texaco logo on it.
  6. Great looking Jeep. The paint is really smooth and I like the short top and lights on this. I can see a Fire Chief somewhere driving this as their Command Car.
  7. Those Hood Hinges are really real looking. I'm enjoying watching all of your scratch building here.
  8. The front end on the '67 Impala looks a little odd to me. The hood I think is off on the leading edge. The hoods center area should be a little flatter. Where the hood starts to drop toward the grill it almost looks like a bump where it should be turning down. I'm not a fan of the bumper guards but I also understand that that is how the car they're replicating was equipped. I wish they had made the bumper guards separate as they did on the rear bumper. The Camaro looks good but the ride height in the front is a little high. As they pointed out this is an early pre-production issue so I'm sure there will be other things done to it before it comes to market. The "Grumpy's Toy" Vega is going to be a hit with anyone into Drag Racing. I have one of the original issues of this kit in my stash and now I'm sorry I didn't build it way back then. Now you'll be able to buy a brand new kit with some improvements from the original with fresh decals and better tires. They also mentioned another wagon kit. This really got my attention as I've become fond of building wagons lately.
  9. I'm hoping we'll end up with a 3 bedroom 2 bath house and as long as I have an Area in the basement to call my own I'm good.
  10. Thanks for the info. I'll have to check locally to see if anything like that is out there. I'm going to have to get another display case / book case soon as I'm running out of room.
  11. Great looking save on this. The sponsor trim all looks perfect. I wish you luck on your up coming move. We're in much the same situation and looking to down size our home this next year also. I would rather take a beating than pack. I guess it's ok as long as the movers through the boxes with your belongings underhand.
  12. Beautiful looking Corvette. That shade of blue was not often seen and that's to bad since it looks great. The interior here is especially nice also.
  13. Got the stance, got the color, the engine is dialed in. Just wish it was 1:1 scale. Great looking build.
  14. Great looking display case. You mentioned Graigslist, was this a private party sale or something from a company listing it ?
  15. The moldings you have added make a big difference in the bodies appearance. I like those Ford styled wheels, gives it a somewhat of an OEM look.
  16. Nice looking chassis here. I also don't remember the TV show, but anything Anne Francis drove I'm in.
  17. Your 1:1 Dodge looks great and your model of it looks real good so far also. I would think adding the Jaguar front suspension would help the handling considerably.
  18. The paint work already looks very niece.
  19. I have two large book shelve units with adjustable shelves for display of built models. I use the bottom shelve to store reference materials such as original sales brochures and books. The weight at the bottom of the book case assures stability of the book case. I have 30 built models in each book case and I think I'm going to have to buy another book case or if I can find some additional shelves to add to the case that might help. All of my builds over twenty years old are wrapped and boxed for storage.
  20. Amazing looking. I would check in on your build often and watch your different designs come together. Anyone looking at this who hasn't had the opportunity to look at how it all came together might have a hard time appreciating what that went into this build. I like how you created the operating bed and the ramps and many other parts.
  21. Beautiful looking Coupe. You must have a very large group of spare parts to draw from. Besides the paint the detailing looks great. I enjoy seeing the little touches like your floor shifter and shift boot as these types of details really make a standout model.
  22. First of I share your appreciation of wagons and this model in particular. A friend of mine bought a very used standard wagon for a work car. He loved it and I gave him some old Sheep Skin seat covers to help hold the stuffing in the front seats were the leather had not been cared for. I built him a model with the upgrades he said he wished he could afford. He picked up a BTCC model as that was all that could be found. I put together a reasonable passenger car interior while keeping as much of the competition parts as possible. The body was painted Tamiya gloss Black and I tinted the windows. I wish I had taken pictures of it but didn't think of it at the time and have since lost touch with him. My point is that while this is a Curbside build this is a really great kit.
  23. Just like your '56 Dodge build you really captured the OEM paint styles of that time. Great paint finish.
  24. Now this is a flash from the past. I'm thinking of the color combination. The Chrysler products had the best looking paint jobs during the 3 color body finishes era. The paint finishes are all nicely done and the interior looks like the correct patterns of that period. Well built.
  25. The engine detailing is very impressive. Nice paint finish also.
