AMT had a '69 Camaro Convertible they issued many years ago. That one as I recall had a well formed body unlike the later issued coupe. Begs the question is this a comingling of parts trees or maybe even body improvements ? On the plus side this Convertible Boot could make it much easier to convert the Revell '67 Camaro kit into a convertible.

That was fast. At least I still have a couple of the Revell '69 Camaros tucked away.

A question for those who know. The AMT Camaro kit, is this the one with the goofy body proportions ?

Is this the small scale Revell kit or something in the 1/24 or 1/25 range.

What did you see on the road today?
espo replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
With time you forget just how big these cars were. This looks like a 98 so it would have the longer wheel base than the 88. -
Decal drying time and clear coat?
espo replied to crowe-t's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I usually wait 24 hrs. Hasn't been a problem, yet. -
I like the blacked out trim and the wheels. The OEM spoiler would have been flipped from the way you did it, but like you said this is a custom so it can go anyway you want. The exhaust coming out in front of the rear wheels has always given an aggressive look to any build. A Pontiac without a Hood Tach just doesn't look right to me so I also like that.

Revell Lightening McQueen Snap-Tite Max
espo replied to Joe Handley's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
These drawings are amazing. The ability to give a machine a believable personality and make you feel as if you're watching a live person on the screen. -
I really like your concept here. I also would like to build a TROG type early something. Something that came to mind looking at your project and noticing that you live in Colorado. I saw an article on a long standing Hill Climb that is held somewhere above Denver. Similar to the TROG idea but with a local flair. The point made in the article, I think it was Hot Rod, was that many contestants were coming in from the East Coast as well. Just a thought and maybe your build could fit in with either event.

White headers, when started and why?
espo replied to Speedfreak's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have heard the same said of black. I think any paint will have at least a minimal effect. The theory is that the heat from the combustion chamber is held in the manifold. -

Disney has done great things with this franchise but I think we all should stop a moment and remember who created this whole thing in the first place. I think it was Pixstar who created this in the first place. I brilliant group of men and women created the story line and the drawings that became the movie. I remember seeing a TV story about how this all came about and these people are also real "car people" in their own right. -
White headers, when started and why?
espo replied to Speedfreak's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The first time I recall seeing the headers or even the stock exhaust manifolds painted with high temp. white paint was around '62 or '63. The treatment was little more than a styling statement and didn't offer any advantage beyond that. Problems : On daily drivers the paint would need to be reapplied from time to time to keep it looking fresh. On cast iron manifolds the problem seemed worse than the headers for some reason. Near the exhaust ports the paint would often start to yellow or turn a slight beige color. My thought was that the cast iron held the heat longer than the headers, either way respraying them almost always required removing them from the engine or have a little overspray on the engine. This may or may not have been the reason for that style to fall out of style. Silver or black have seemed to become the standard anymore. There was a time on the '90's that some would use a powder coating in a color that matched or contrasted with the colors being used on the engine or body. Too much information ? sorry. -
The wet paint idea sounds like it would make since. On the recovery of the extra "carpeting" regardless of application process. I have used a business folder like you would find in an office hanging file cabinet. After doing the application using the folder to catch any extra material the folder can easily be partially closed and act as a funnel to pour the material back into the container. The folder can be used over and over.

RAIN and more RAIN. I like rain as much as most people and I realize the importance of having rain so I'm normally good with it. Almost all day yesterday and now this morning it's raining in what might best be described as Biblical proportions and thunder and lighting that reminds me of an old black and white horror movie. This is the type of thunder that has the windows rattling and the house vibrating.

WIP Monogram 1970 Chevelle 80's style street machine.
espo replied to larman's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I like your Chevelle. I notice the ridge around the Hood opening for the Blower. Did the kit come with that option or is it something you created ? -
I'm about 50 - 50 on the powder by still like the flocking. The biggest problem I have had with the flocking, besides it having a lot of static electricity and getting everywhere, is the Elmer's Glue sometimes pealing off during final assembly.

Count me as one of the "old fashion" types, I still like to hold a magazine in my hand. I still receive all of my monthly car mags. -
You might consider using a simple strainer to put the flocking in and then tap the side of it as you spread it over the floor area. This tends to make the flocking material just a little finer and it spreads in a more even manor. The same would hold true for embossing powder.

I have only driven a couple of cars for a short time with the stop/start option. If I was buying a new car I'd pay extra to not have it. Another thing I hate is the way the cylinder deactivation worked on the '10 Charger RT we traded off the first of the year. At part throttle on the freeway it would start to deactivate cylinders and it would sound like the car was farting and the throttle response was slowed.

53 Ford Pickup
espo replied to Immortal Chips's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great looking pick up and I like the stance. I always liked the Ford rear fenders rather than the kits Chevrolet optional fenders on this body style. Nice job on the rear wheel tubs. -
Revell Lightening McQueen Snap-Tite Max
espo replied to Joe Handley's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not something I would normally build, but I like the subject and I also enjoyed the movie. I'll be getting one of these. -
Looks good. I'd have hanged on to this one also. This is not an easy body to work with but the kit offered a lot of good build options.

Very nice paint work and the color looks good also. I like the wheel and tire combination.
