The Green color you are using will really standout with the White trim. I like that you're building it as a "Post" car instead of a Hard Top. You have a neat looking Travel Trailer in the background in the first picture. What's the story on that ?

I think the Metal Foil would be the best way to go. As sensitive to touch as everyone has said of Alclad and other products I think you might end up with a real mess. If I may offer something I noticed from your picture. The picture makes the filler panel appear as if it isn't fully covered. Some times masking in tight spots like this it is easy to lose any body lines you may be using for a masking line. You may already have done this, but what you can do is use your #11 blade and draw where it is you want the line to be before you mask the panel. This will give you the visual as well as a line that is visible after you put down the foil. This line will be far easier to see than just the line on the casting. Use than as your cut line for the foil, a light clear coat to create a barrier from the Chrome Pant that you use. After all of the chrome paint work is done and before removing the foil, lightly follow the edge of the foil with a #11 cutting thru any chrome spray on the foil. The foil should come away with no problems and give you a sharp clean edge between the two colors.

The birth of a classic (?)

Hi Bill, My friends Olds wagon was a darker color, almost but not the same as a '60's Mopar Purple. Theirs was a solid one color car and had the lower line Hub Caps. The wagon in your picture is a far better looking car. If you build this please allow us to follow as you usually do. -
Great looking Convertible. Ford sold a lot of those Stainless Steel Fender Skirts in that era. The up top is better looking than what you usually see.

1950 Ford F-5 Grain Truck
espo replied to Keesee17's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great looking truck. The weathering looks spot on. Don't be shocked if this gets moved to the Truck section. The bed sides remind me of some of the owner built side rails from the past. -

Thanks. I'll have to remember this on my next build, I use little other than Tamiya paints is why I asked. -
The birth of a classic (?)

When I was in High School one of my friends father had a '58 Olds 88 station wagon in a new color that year that was very Purple. The car was only a couple of years old at the time but it just looked like it was designed by a committee that couldn't agree on anything. The rear area was so big that we would put an old mattress in the back and leave the tail gate down. He'd wire the back up lights to stay on and we would drive the Farm roads in our area and shot Rabbits all night long. Just a couple of teen age guys with a 20 gauge shooting rabbits during the winter and the Rabbits were eating everything in sight. In the rural areas not far from Chicago there was a very large agrarian population. When I went back to visit in the '70's the old Farms were now all housing developments. -
The $2000 asking price would be high for this and the entire "field of dreams" behind it.

For those wishing to make a '68 out of the '67 Camaro kit might want to get detailed pictures of both and spend some time looking at the differences. There are many differences that most would miss if accuracy is important. The car its self could be ordered with so many variations in trim and interior beyond the Vent Windows and Grill shapes it would be easy to start getting the little details wrong.

Very nice looking build. The paint finish is nice and smooth, how much polishing did you have to do there ? The under hood detailing is very realistic looking. -
Great looking CJ and I like the light mud splattering on the body. Neat looking boat.

Turned out perfect , and I also like the Cuban back story. There used to be a TV show on the Car Culture in Cuba and this would be one of the best ones out there. What the Cuban people have done to keep these older cars on the road is beyond amazing. While the color was not a stock color for the era a couple of years done the road It would be a perfect way to update the look. At that time side view mirrors were an option anyway. I think it looks great.

Beautiful looking Mustang. The color is perfect for this one.

Very elaborate paint work. Watching your build and seeing the paint work evolve and then the finished work it was still hard to imagine just how it would look. In addition to the paint work the entire build is cleanly done thru out.

This should be an interesting build. I thin k the BRG color is perfect for this.

I agree with everyone else on the Roof color. The Tan color better patches the color scheme and using the Fabric Style spray should offer a good texture to the finish.

Your modification of the firewall seems to have gone a long way to compensate for the chopped top. You may have to rework the interior a little also for clearance. From my limited experience with this basic kit I would suggest the Grill area will also be a challenge when you get there. I like the three Carb Flat head engine idea.

1967 - 69 Camaro Wire Wheel Covers?
espo replied to crowe-t's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The wheels that gtx697 suggested may be the best valid bases with the Knock Offs removed. A very small flat "cap" of some sort for the center. The hardest part seems to be getting something that looks like a Hub Cap and not a true Wire Wheel which is what most of the options seem to look like. -

I followed your build on this. I like the things like the paint work and the mismatched white walls. -
I fell while putting down Weed & Feed in the back yard yesterday. We have a pretty good slope in one area and the grass was wet and the leg with the bad knee went under me and my other leg went the other way so I'm doing the splits and sliding down the hill in the wet grass and trying to catch my self while falling I jam my right hand into the raised planters I built years ago. The walls are made out of 6" by 8" blocks and I jammed the ring finger on my right hand to the point that the end of it was hanging at an odd angle and the nail is bleeding profusely. I went to the Care Center this morning and the good news I managed to not break anything. They X-Rayed the finger and the Doctor thinks I may have damaged the Tendon in the finger and has a Hand Specialist that is supposed to look at it. There is very little pain and the nail is all that is really sore. I think it is amazing how one little miss step in the yard can turn your whole day upside down.

Beautiful looking build. The colors, and finish, all work together perfectly. I like the engine upgrades and it all fits under the stock hood.
