Excellent job on the chopped top. The finish is smooth and flows perfectly, hard to do with this much surgery. I also like the LeSalle grill that you used.

Beautiful looking body work on both builds. I like the colors on the sedan. The Tail Light stands seem a little long. I would suggest thinking about a light black wash on the Grill of both just to add a little depth to their appearance.

Great looking color combination on the body. The interior matches the exterior well also. I like the updated drive train idea.

Something to consider if you're over say over 6 ft. tall. My last two every day drivers have been four doors. They have both been Chargers, and they aren't exactly small. Being over 6 ft. means I sit further back than some do. What happens is the B pillar is even with my shoulder and it is actually harder to get in and out than in a two door car. My wife is 5ft 10in. she also has this issue but at a lesser degree. I guess getting older is a factor making this far more noticeable now than in years past. Some thing I have noticed, and this is one of those mind set things, most people of younger generations are not as put off by multidoor vehicles as most of us of a curtain age. This has to do with being raised during a time when a two door hardtop or convertible was considered the most desirable car to own. Four doors and even Wagons were considered little more than taxis of the time. This may just be my personal hang up, but I think others may agree. The main thing today is we are forced to buy what ever the manufactures think we want, and it is up to us the consumer to determine which box full of doors we want to spend a ransom to buy.

PLEASE get that debris off of the Comet. Since your "shop" is in the garage and you said the climate is uncontrolled you might want to think about some plastic sealable storage tubs. This will minimize moisture exposure and hungry rodents. Another idea, when time and money are available, would be to insulate the walls and even put up sheet rock. With a small space heater you might be amazed at the improvement. This has made a very big difference in my own garage, but we don't often see the extreme cold you have to deal with.

Another consideration might be Tamiya's AS-12 Bare Metal Silver. This color is just a little less bright than their TS-30 Silver Leaf. Their Aircraft and Military colors offer some interesting colors and shades that have many uses and the amount of gloss desired can be controlled with what ever gloss top coat you prefer, or use none at all.

Beautiful paint work and nicely detailed chassis and engine. The color blends well with the side stripe decals. This was one of Fords best looking models from that era.

Even new or newer houses are "Money Pits". I appreciate people that want to restore older homes, but with what the original builders had to work with it is amazing any of them have survived this long. You have to really love that old structure since in many cases you'll end up spending as much as a new build to bring them up to todays standards. I do wish you luck though.

I also remember White Castle when very young and living in Arlington Heights. Do they still have the square Ice Cream Scoops ? The Burgers I remember were more like a snack.

While kind of basic compared to most of the newer kits, it still builds into a great display model. Even with several already in the "stash" I'll have to have one of these also.

The only thing I disliked about the kit was the Flathead/Fordomatic drive train. Mine has the Cadillac engine and trans. from the AMT '49 Ford kit. This is in keeping with the early '50's theme of the build.

All of your reshaping and molding should qualify you as a "Plastic Surgeon". I'm sure you have plans for the Cowl Vent before you finish with the body, but I just noticed it is still on the forward section of the Cowl.

I would take this directly to the Post Office and have them open it. That way there will be no question as to who is responsible for any damage. They also need to know that they are the ones who damaged this package and they need to figure out how and what went wrong. Also they can't come back at you and say this wasn't their fault. as the package is in it's as delivered condition.

I have used Tamiya White Primer for a base coat on any light color. This also worked well under a bright Yellow color as it is also very translucent. Best thing to do is the old tried and true spoon test. Save yourself from having to strip paint off of your project if it doesn't turn out like you want.

Great looking truck. In addition to all the nice mods you mentioned I like the '49 Merc tail lights.

Interesting looking kit and the Presidents brother was lets just say was a very colorful person. I didn't realize that there was an I beam front suspension on this build. The 1:1 truck had an independent suspension set up. So is this going to be Billy's Beer Hauler or something else ?

The model it's self looks good. The "dust storm" looks very accurate. I'd be interested in how you suspended the Charger and how you shaped the dust trail.

Great looking build. The paint finish and the striping look perfect. Very cleanly detailed trim and engine.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This split window on this wide of a body just doesn't look right to me. The proportions are just all wrong. I understand there may be those who think it looks great, I just wouldn't be one of them.

I'm not an expert by any means, but a family friend had a '59 Impala Convertible when it was a late model car. His was painted Black with Red interior and cloth inserts. I only recall a couple of other convertibles from that time and the ones that I remember only had the cloth inserts. Maybe someone with a little more in depth knowledge could offer some additional information on the subject. I have seen several restorations of '59 Impalas and many have the cloth pattern printed on a full vinyl interior. The vinyl interior would prove more durable over time when exposed to the sun I think.

Thank you for the pictures. Good Guys Shows are always the best. They used to have a show at Kansas Speedway, about 4 miles from my house, but there was a falling out between Good Guys and the speedway.
