  1. I agree 100 % especially with a car with the reputation like the Charger. That said I sure love our Charger RT. 90k miles and still running strong. With the exception of having too many doors it is ever bit a Charger.
  2. Last night was our Fire Works display. This is provided by the Home Owners Association and has been an annual event for over twenty years. My wife and I take our lawn chairs and head down to the waters edge, the fireworks are launched from the top of the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH and we are about than 50 yards away. We have a concrete sidewalk and some rocks at the waters edge and everything is covered with Geese droppings. I had to clear an area with a broom to get a place for use to sit. Looks like I get to play with the Power Washer again.
  3. The body and paint look great. Novel idea on the drivetrain. I like that, "Dare to be different" mentality, nothing wrong with that shows imagination.
  4. Had the same problem and Revell replaced the body for me, so I was lucky. Also picked up one from a Hobby Shop getting ready to ship it back to Revell for a credit. I was able to buy it for something close to what Revell would give them and I got a great deal on the kit. A thought, not knowing what you were thinking of building the model as, this would also make a great base for a Gasser with no back seat and Roll Bar with the Bel Air body. You could make a rust bucket out of it or an old clunker driver. You could still just sand off the Bel Air side trim and shorten the moldings on the top of the rear fenders so that it looks like a base 150 or a 210 body style. If you think you have a "Lemon" make Lemonade out of it.
  5. The first model kits I recall with an interior was the '57 year models. I had a '57 Ford convertible and then the hardtop. The '57 Fairlane 500 with the opening doors was a much later issue. I remember getting a '55 Buick hardtop and a '56 Oldsmobile 4 door hardtop and a '56 Dodge two door hardtop, but these were without interiors and had metal chassis. this was in 1955 and 1956.
  6. Very impressive engine collection. I would welcome any information and detailing techniques you may have to offer.
  7. Just read an article about the passing of Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen in Auto Week magazine. In the article they had talked to John Force about their relationship and John talked about how close they were and how much he appreciated his guidance thru the years. Again John showing what a respectful person he is.
  8. We get annual visits from some beautiful white Swans. In the spring heading north and the fall when they're heading south. They only stay for a week max and I have identified individuals by their neck tags and intered the information on a wildlife tracking web sight. Often some of the migrating Geese, not to be confused with the lazy year round types, will rest here also. They form large floating masses on the lake. The Swans go where ever they want and the Geese clear a path for them. I have only seen one or two times the Geese didn't move fast enough and a Swan quickly charged the Geese and they would scatter. The Swans are a sight to behold and often will fly about 20 feet off the water and do Hot Laps around the lake and you can hear them breathing and the wind on their wings when they go bye. This is truly a beautiful thing to see. As for Gators, we do have some Snapping Turtles that have been known to grab a Goose by the foot when they're floating around. The Geese that are able to break free usually limp from then on. I have watched one Goose fight for a hour or more before the Snapper dragged him under. The best part is during the winter months if the lake freezes over. There is a population of Bald Eagles along the near by Kaw River and they have sometimes taken a Goose or two on the ice. These are some Bad News birds, I love them. .
  9. If you have other Revell kits that offer the option of a stock build just use that stock axle on this build. That should be an easy installation.
  10. Great background story on the CHP Buicks. I remember these as a child living in Santa Monica at that time. I do remember that the CHP also tried a few Oldsmobile 88's based on the same formula but never heard how that turned out. I only recall seeing one or two Old's so I don't think that was of the same scale as the Buick's. They used '67 and some '68 Oldsmobile Delta 88's that were equipped with the 425 cu in engine and suspension and brake upgrades in later years.
  11. Great looking truck. I agree with you on the Stake Bed, this way you could really personalize it. You know, Wood Stake sides and Tail Gate.
  12. This information has been very interesting. I received this kit as a door prize in June at the Heartland Show and have been thinking about what to do with it. First thought was to convert some other model to a Mid-Engine setup but now I'm thinking maybe as a Prototype instead.
  13. Outstanding job on your conversion and the detailing also. I wouldn't want to "throw a chain" on one of these 1:1 that's for sure.
  14. I'm not a big fan of big body stripes so my opinion should be discounted here. The two Green stripes give the appearance of fish scales, and I'm not sure that is what you're thinking of. Either of the other two could be interesting with the body color showing thru. The wheels look perfect for this type and size of car and I really like how you did the finish on them. Now that I see it I like the Green color, this will be a great looking build which ever way you go.
  15. Great find even if your not a Studebaker fan. If you are a Studebaker fan this would have to be the holy grail Promo. You know what they say about Garage Sales, "One mans junk is another mans treasure" and I think this proves that.
  16. The steep discounting on these and other products makes me wonder if Hobby Lobby is stepping away from those products. I hope not, but still it makes me wonder about that.
  17. I have also thought about the electric tooth brush idea and even purchased the tooth brush part, but that is as far as that has gone. It sounds as though the tool you describe from the hardware store is of the same design, but on a larger scale. I recently got a catalog from Micro-Mark (www.micromark.com) and they offer what they call Micro Sanding Wands that are what I have. Their part number is #81471. They also offer additional sanding belts in 4 different grits, 400, 320, 240, and 120. The only problem is weather or not they would ship overseas. But after looking at their web sight maybe you can find some local supplier that can get the tool for you. Good luck and keep up the great builds.
  18. That is a great looking work truck. I have seen guys with rigs around here that do welding in remote locals, job sights, Farms, Big Rigs stuck out on the highway that need something welded to get rolling again. Very realistic detailing on the tools and wires and clamps. I like the way you designed the Flat Bed.
  19. The injector marks are hard to get to. I have a sanding tool that I have used for some time that works perfectly on those. The tool is just over 15 mm long and is spring loaded in the center. A 1mm band of sand paper wraps around the tool and can be moved to expose a new surface as the old area of the sanding strip wears. The spring loaded center section keeps the sand paper in place until you move it. This gives you a 1mm wide sanding stick much like a large pencil to get into areas like you are working with. I have had it so long that I'm not sure where it came from and there is no brand name on the tool. I don't know what your Hobby Supply shops are like but maybe they offer something like this.
  20. There is actually a service in this area where this guy brings in his trained dogs and they harass the Geese at different times of the day. He will visit the area at different times of the day thinking that the Geese will move on since they will not know when the dogs are going to be there. But Geese are very sneaky birds and they just come back in a half hour or so.
  21. Beautiful looking build. The Paint looks great and the Chassis and Interior color all look perfect. I guess I'm one of the few that think this is a very special car in many ways.
  22. Love it. Nothing like Saturday Night Grass Roots Racing.
  23. If you want to see more of the Suburban I posted it some time ago Under Glass in the truck section under the heading "Family Suburban".
  24. Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed them.
