Good looking stance and a great job on the rear window.

It's certainly big enough, but my suggestion is to be very careful about the vent fan. The possibility of a fire from certain types of fans with paint fumes venting through them is very real. Remember you are passing flammable gases thru an electrical fan motor that my not be designed to handle a flammable gas. It looks like you would have plenty of room for a "down draft" setup. Then you just need some flex hose to the outside thru the window. I suggest you look at the section of the forum where this sort of thing has been discussed in depth. I think you will find many more ideas than I can offer you. Be safe, not sorry.

How many model A Ford kits are there ?
espo replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think it would be better if all these molds were back on US soil and we wouldn't have to worry about this sort of thing. Call me an Isolationist, but that's how I feel. -
The wheels look great. What colors are you going to use ?

Once again, Batwing Chevy...
espo replied to Mr.Zombie's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It seems you have solved your side trim problems. From the pictures your subject is a Bel Air sedan ( four door ). The roof you received is a 2-door sedan roof, it can be made to work by making it longer and add the stationary windows that were in the roof behind the doors. I'll enjoy watching this build. -
AMT 53 FORD PICKUP HOW TO?

Try using some Plastruct and create your own drop axle. -
Like that a lot. Great style.

Outstanding !!

Just some thoughts. As mentioned the OEM wheels on this would have been a gray or as Chevrolet used to call it Argent. The color was more of a semi-gloss and the trim rings were more of a brushed aluminum finish. Just depends on how close you want to get. In later years , around the '77 Z-28's they started painting the wheels the same color as the body. Many good ideas on the running lights. I have had good luck with bare metal foil but used Tamaya clear yellow and clear red. A dab of clear afterwards might help protect the finish.

Lots of good work here. On your 1:1's front spoiler, If you want to try to add one, Chevrolet used to have a replacement center section for the '73 - '77 year model. It was the very short style to replace the ones that everyone was ripping off. It used a simple "pop rivet" type attachment. Your hood moldings look right on, are you going with the tall or short rear spoiler ?

1941 Chevrolet light rescue

I remember this type of utility box on many types of trucks years ago. Many times the utility box had already been on more than one truck and usually they didn't care if it was pretty or matched the new truck. Often they were just painted black so that it didn't matter what color the new truck was. -
Looks great. I like your color choice better than the blue on the box.

Great paint job, I think Larry would appreciate it also. I didn't realize they still had Pabst Blue Ribbon. I used to live in way northern Wisconsin and that is about all we ever drank, and a lot of it.

Henry never made them looking this good. Great build as always.

Great looking build. I noticed what looks like LT emblems on your 1:1 Camaro. That would account for the one piece headliner. Since I have not built this kit I'm not sure what you would have to do to the seats and door panels to match an LT, but I noticed in the model pictures it has the correct hidden wipers. Are the window moldings correct on the model? I like your 1:1 Camaro, I had a '69 for many years and ordered a '77 Camaro LT back when. They are great cars.

Jesse, I'm enjoying your build. For body filler you might try Tamiya Putty. I've had good luck with it and it doesn't seem to shrink later on.
-
Great build. If you have not yet done the engine, I have used Tamiya X-14 Sky Blue on a '62 Pontiac Catalina and some GTO's and it looks very close to my eye.

Modelhaus/AMT question about 57 sedan delivery

Build it with the 409 that comes in the kit with the blower and four side draft carbs. Nice surprise when someone lifts the hood. -
Seeking new modellers ?
espo replied to Krazy Rick's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm what you could call "old school" as I'm not on Facebook or any other such things except here. From what I have seen at the car shows and Good Guys events is that the young people seem to enjoy the Make and Take type of events. I think most of these kids are there because their parents are into or are showing their own car. That may make them predisposed to be interested in cars because of their parents. I have seen Revell advertise kits in some of the auto magazines that I read, but again that is some thing they would be looking at anyway if they are interested in cars to begin with. Not sure what the answer is, but for our hobby to continue as we know it today we need to attract new and younger modelers to keep it financially adventitious for model companies can stay in business. I'm afraid that there is more of us "ageing out" than new modelers coming in to the hobby. If it means more late model cars and trucks I would welcome that. How about some of the new cars of today with the detail we sometime take for granted on the Tri 5s, Camaros, and Mustangs that we all know and love. Just a thought. -
Clark - Great looking engine , hard to tell what color you used. Looking forward to the rest of your build.

I like the "stink bug" stance and the tire trailer is very cool. Is the Cuda going to tow the trailer or is there a support vehicle for the Cuda and tow the trailer ?
-
This is great, getting to spend time together building. Only problem I see is she looks like she's very good at this and you two may become competitive. What a great problem to have. Now you have to buy twice as many kits.

I agree with Steve on your door problem. While all of the other information is good to have it really looks like you need some more work on the doors. Depending on what you have available you could use a simple nail sanding stick from the woman's section at the drug store. You might use a bit of tap to mask the molding on either side of the door so you don't lose that detail. Sand everything until you get almost all the primer sanded off and you will start to see any other additional body work you need to do. It is real hard to tell were your at on just white plastic. Just try light dusting of primer and sand as needed.
